Hypothetically Tessia wouldn’t have been at Xyrus, right? Wouldn’t the slavers have kept her? Since Arthur wasn’t there to save her…

I know I’m a month late but what I’m thinking is these are similar but just slightly realities what his life could’ve been like if things went differently. I think he’s unable to experience true death in the keystone. But with each reincarnation he gets further and further from the grey / Arthur that we’ve been with. I think that when he’s reincarnated enough times he’ll lose the memory of the grey Arthur we know and with that will forget he’s actually in a keystone. And when that happens he’ll be trapped in there maybe even after his actual body outside the keystone is killed/ gone.

Aranox

there's still a royal family which would've tried to rescue her or butterfly effect took place and the kidnapping didnt happen in this sequence of events

Louis Pösselt

I think this is about maximizing with every opportunity … and sacrificing what ever it takes to get to the goal one aspires to reach. Building a position, gaining pieces to use and taking away from the enemy. Raising pawns and sacrificing them where needed. Basically playing the same game Agrona has been playing all the time. Finally realizing that there is no gambit without playing above the board. Because if u are just a piece on the board you are not playing, you are just being played.

Heartfelt Thanks for this great story. It's great stimuli for my consciousness. As I found myself often remembering things of other lifes and using such inherent knowledge and how it influences Life. I always thought it would be most beneficial if you could remember much as possible, to grow further but i understand know. That's it has to be in a good mixture of being a child and just who you are right now, to heal, to gather wisdom. It was always clear that there has to be some struggle in life to grow, so there are maybe times where it's important to be unconscious. Ultimately it's your thing how to settle the balance between old and new.

She wouldn’t have

Okay, here's a thought: could the original baby Arthur's psyche be fighting against his lives before this? As Cecilia fights against Tessia's will, will the same be for Art here as he realizes that he does have these former lives, sorrows, mistakes, victories, tragedy, joy, love and struggle? I could see a kid trying to run from his own fate because he didn't want to relive the heartache but he has to, he must, even though he will know it's coming the entire time.

Tomatoz for pickin

Hard chapter.

Sansan

I think he’ll just ultimately accept that the past can’t be changed. Also, wasn’t Tessia abducted by slavers? How did she get out of that situation without Arthur?

Faylix

of course changing things has consequences. He turned from a soldier to a flower in a green house.

Nik D

Hoooly shyyt!

Leadslinger2019

So changing Fate has its consequences, I’m thinking that the less he changes the more likely the outcome will remain similar and so he will change only one little part of an event to shape it into something with just enough change that the outcome becomes favorable for everyone. But which fateful moment will he alter ? The only one I could think of would be the fate of the Glaydirs dying or not dying .

Camo7

I hope so. I don't want Arthur to lose himself.

FlakyArtz

Agreed I think this is the lesson he has to learn too.

Kodi457

The way that he addressed Tessia, its as if this reliving of his life there has altered his way of thinking. Maybe it's an influence of slowing losing his grip on King Grey, maybe these relivings are rewriting his psyche. Maybe we lose the Arthur we've grown to know. Maybe, after this additional rebirth, he regains his former psyche back to his original self. Maybe it's all for him to learn that controlling fate isn't really the goal, but understanding the pathways of different fate, kind of like God Step.

Camo7

I would assume Tess would have been saved by a Lance, but since Arthur didn't find her so soon I would assume she would have some sort of mental trauma

Duncan Rodgers

I think the fourth godrune enables the abillty to perceive fate.

Matthew Ao

wow, this adds many layers to the story…

So changing things made it worse, and he died started again. Will this be groundhog day next chapter? Also, we see how aether, is visible to him as long as he's thinking in high Arthur. Also, we see how aether was doing stuff around him the entire time regardless of weather he could see it or not. We knew some healers had barely been using aether to heal, and it didn't seem very significantly described, but when he made a core early, aether DID get a curious and investigative qualities. So if he did stuff using his high Arthur thoughts and abilities, did it change what should be, and every time will have attracted curious and investigative aether. And does it DO something in response, like trying to restore what should have been for example? How does agrona even know about the keystone and fate runes? Did some djinn have them? If they did, were they not able to use them in a non-violent way? Maybe they DID use them, and Arthur is the best they could conjur up? For example, Arthur could only master time runes to a point, and maybe any djinn who had mastered fate were historical, and/or the djinn alive leading up to the genocide who did have fate/time masteries only had enough to bring about a certain level of changes to their fate. Like, they couldn't stop agrona or kezess, but could line up a comeback later in the form of current events.

VincentP

It sounds like the technique Itachi used on Kabuto, Izanami. So it will be more or less the same thing: destiny cannot be changed, so you simply have to accept it. Nietzche said to accept his life as if he would return countless times, in this case it is quite literal. Very intresting.

AntiMatterDynamite

so he'll probably loop a bunch of times right? in that case turtleme i hope you're actually working on an 11.5 volume of alternate arthur timeline one off stories

LordCruaver

Called it, also this kinda slaps it in his face "Stop being a control freak, some things are fated to happen."

Joseph Phoenix

What if it’s telling him he can’t really control fate?

George

Wow..... this chapter opened so many possibilities... I consider this one a masterpiece. The brain stimulation I got from this chapter is priceless.

TurtleMe you be cookin something mighty fine

DawnOfHavoc

Oh no, it's Dark Souls. Art's probably gonna have to relive his life exactly as it was and get to where he is now and discover something about Aether through these lives he's living in order to get out of the Keystone. So the event he changed first was the bandit attack, which means no Sylvia, no Dragon Will, no friendship with Tess, no bond with the elves, no adventuring, no Elijah, no Legacy. It seems he was a bi-elemental augmenter with Fire and Water attributes (same as Grey's preferred styles) with deviance in Lightning (at the very least). So did the Dragon Will influence the connection with the four elements? Or was it the lack of Grey's memories sticking with Arthur? Anyway, he will most likely try to change some things other than the bandit attack next time. Sounds like his memories as Grey will also fade with time, so he's gonna have to somehow get a grip on his emotions in order to follow/control Fate. Maybe when he tries to change something, Grey's influence just stops after that? What other events will change? Maybe he'll try to act on his emotions with Tess sooner? Maybe he'll try to disregard Tess entirely in order to protect her? What if he just never became friends with Elijah and pushed him away instead? What if he accompanied Tess back to school so Lucas didn't get his hands on her, and Elijah was never kidnapped? What if Arthur never gave Tess the beast will? What if Arthur never gave Gideon the design for the steam ship? What if Arthur never told his parents about his previous life? What if Arthur stayed in Epheotus and trained longer? What if Arthur was adamant about his Plan at the Wall and didn't leave? So many questions.

xroninx

So basically, he just keeps forgetting his previous life and lives his life as “Arthur Leywin”? I’m guessing the key is to follow his fate. Its probably along the lines of “fate is written and cannot be undone, there is no being who can change what fate had decided”. If he could just manipulate fate after he unlocks the new godrune, it would be too broken so it’s probably like “he can look into fate but he can’t change it”. Considering the aether all went around him both when he was injured and when he formed a core, the energy that literally forms everything was “curious” about him. Everything was the same as his past life but this time he could see more so the aether was there the first time. He’s an anomaly brought to Dicathen by Sylvie and every action he takes is chosen by fate and until he realizes this, he’s probably trapped. He needs to live his life exactly how he lived it the first time and then most likely once he reaches the “present” it will unlock the godrune. Also, how did Tessia get saved in this reality?

Sam

Oh this chapter made me so anxious especially the ambush part and onwards

Matt Columbus

Trying to channel aether without a core and it somewhat responding is very interesting.

Matthew Williams

Very Interesting.

Jace Oliver

Absolutely amazing chapter. I need more!! Can’t wait for the next one!

John Bray

It's like this is... The Beginning After the End! 🎉🎉🎉

JakKnife

So his mind is stuck in a time loop reliving his past seeing what could have been. Neat.

Camo7

This must be what Mordain meant when he said that the keystone wouldn't let arthur leave until he either learned Fate or died.

AntiMatterDynamite
