Personally like the "concept album/RPG soundtrack" idea. Curious about how you'll approach the overall album. It could be along a more "literal, classical" bent where the music acts out a single thought/story like Peter and the Wolf by Prokofiev (most immediate example I could think of). Or maybe in a traditional-VGM sense, where the world-building (characters, cultures, artifacts/events) is documented - either by you or an external writer transcribing/translating your ideas - and referencing THAT for composition? Speaking only for myself, the phrase "my soundtrack to a video game that doesn't exist" definitely intrigued me. Maybe incorporate the "existence/non-existence" concept into the narrative? (Joking here, but the thought came up while watching). Either way, looking forward to what this turns out to be in the end, and I hope the journey to that point is a fruitful one for you.
yesssss, flat ride cymbals are jazz staples! Just wait until you start buying different sticks to get different sound profiles out of your cymbals ;)
