HxG Chapter 1-5
🕑 Added 2024-10-04 22:03:52 +0000 UTCThird-Person Point of View
A boy sat in bed, his entire body in pain as he fought to stay alive. When the boy turned seven he started to get sick. Slowly he became more and more bedridden until by his tenth birthday he spent more time in bed than out of it. When he was thirteen he spent most of his time awake trying to manually breathe so he didn’t have to have the oxygen up his nose.
He was unlucky. No matter how many doctors looked at him they couldn’t find out what was wrong. He was also lucky though as he was born to a rich family. The family was from old money and as the only heir to the family fortune, the boy's father was willing to spend any amount to find a cure for him. Millions, then tens, then hundreds of millions of jenny(HXH currency 134=1 dollar) spent on trying to find a cure for his unknown illness.
Finally, one was found. Someone who was looking to claim the reward turned out to be a hunter. The person named Ging noticed the boy was leaking aura even though his nodes were still sealed. He had never seen an overflow that powerful before, opening his nodes could cause irreparable damage to him if they were unlucky. Ging struck the boy with enough force that if he was a grown man he’d have died. Everyone looked on in shock as his next blow was enough to bend metal and the boy barely flinched. The Nen in his body kept him alive.
The boy had almost limitless Nen in his body and it was causing his body significant problems. The overwhelming force of Nen causes his body to be damaged but also heals from that damage at the same rate instinctively. If he learned to control the Nen he had at that moment he could have been a god… But that wasn’t what the boy wanted. He still viewed himself as a boy even though he had reached eighteen.
The past six years of his life had been spent watching TV, anime, or cartoons. Before that, he played video games until his body couldn’t anymore. He was sick of it all. All that power and he was sick of it, sick of his weak body, sick of being so weak he couldn’t do his favorite thing anymore, which was play video games. He was just sick of how much pain he felt, sick of needing to stay still because moving slightly caused pain. Sick of living his own life.
As Ging struck him for the last time, the blow was filled with Nen he just wished to start over. To respawn into a normal body like in a video game.

I looked at the screen that popped up when the short man finally attacked me with all his strength.
Character Creation
The first choice was sex. My mind hovered over the female option for a second before clicking male. Skin tone next. I tried to match it to as close as what I was, maybe a shade or two darker. I was about halfway through the other options trying to recreate myself when I realized what I was doing. I didn’t want that weak and feeble body anymore. I could choose any appearance that I wanted now so I went more toward male celebrities than my sickly pale hollow-eyed anemic previous self. It’s either a celebrity look-alike or a green monster-like Dark Souls character.
Settling on a look between Brad Pitt from Fight Club and Chris Hemsworth from Captain America is what I go with for my physique. Sky blue eyes, light blonde hair, no tattoos or piercings even though I think they’d be cool. I got to scaling and go with 6’6” for my height and for my junk I dragged it to the biggest size. The massive elephant penis that drags on the ground was a bit too much so I keep lowering it until I’m only a foot long length.
Finalizing my looks I get to the good part. I click over at the choices I can make for my future growth. An option pops up. Please choose one Nen type(will affect future growth).
Enhancer- Higher offense and defense(focuses on melee attacks)
Transmuter- Increased ability to alter aura
Emitter- Easier time separating aura from body(focuses on ranged attacks)
Conjurer- Creates material from aura
Manipulator- Use rules to manipulate other individuals
Specialist- Allows the gamer system to be shared with others, increases effect the gamer system has on the outside world, boosts Nen skill leveling rate
I don’t know why it even gave me the choice. Specialist is clearly the best option to choose. I don’t think most people got to choose their aura type though so of course they’d pick specialist if they could. Please choose one aura specialization.
Ten- Defensive
Zetsu- Concealment
Ren- Offensive
Hatsu- Specialization
Which do I go with? Defense is always good, I liked building defensively on my first character in any game that it’s possible. That was normally because I wanted to learn the game and surviving was the best way to do so. Something pointed me towards Hatsu though, I picked the specialist aura type, so why not go all out with it then?
After choosing the two I’m offered yet another choice. Choose Nen ability(Gut feeling).
Aura Body Strengthening- Pull aura into body strengthening it but losing all other aura abilities
Elemental Control- Control an already existing element inside your aura
Aura Bullet- fire an aura blast to hurt someone, the blast fades the further away the target is
Healing Palm- secrete a healing liquid from your palms
Summon Minion- Summons a minion to fight for you inside your aura
Aura body strengthening sounds strong but it limits me. The same goes for the elemental control, if I could produce the element it would be far better but it meant I’d need to keep a lighter or something on me. Aura bullet sounded weak but under the right circumstances would be the most valuable. That circumstance was that I was afraid to fight up close for some reason. Healing palm seems like the best for groups and I was leaning towards it.
I also wondered if I could possibly bottle the liquid to sell or make healing potions anyone could use. The final option felt like the best choice but it also had the negative aspect of not knowing what my minion would be. How big is my aura as well? If my aura was only a five-foot sphere around me then summon minion would be useless. That was the question, did I go with the pragmatic option of healing or the more interesting option of summoning?
Chapter 02
I decided to follow my gut and go with the interesting option. I just hoped in the long run it didn’t screw me. As I selected it I knew in my gut I made the right choice. With my final choice, I looked over my stats for the first time before I felt a tugging sensation pulling at me like the moment I focused on it I would be pulled to wherever it wanted to take me.

After looking everything over I follow the feeling. The moment I do I come back in the same moment I was attacked by the man. He looked at me as I looked at him, I looked around the room and we all looked at each other before I broke the silence. “Who would have guessed punching me was the cure to my illness.” Everyone sat in silence until they realized I was making a joke.
The man began to laugh and slap his knee while my father came up to me. “So you’re Cloud then?” I scratched my face as I began to explain what happened. Ging gets his payment and moves towards the door before I ask him. “Can you explain Nen to me?” Ging stopped mid-step as he looked at me. “Become a hunter before you talk to anyone about that. You don’t want to know what will happen if you mention that around the wrong people.”
Alright, so I can’t even do one of the quests now, I needed to figure out what the hell a hunter was. No, before that I needed to experiment with my body. As I walked into the kitchen I started eating the plate of cookies someone prepared. I looked over to see my mother had her tea cup halfway up to her lips, eyes wide open in shock as the cup slipped from her fingers while she looked at me.
As the tea cup exploded she screamed before she fainted. Jeez Mom, I can’t believe even with this new body she somehow recognized me and knew I had been cured. I put on seventy pounds and a foot of height, plus I was handsome and moving around which was impossible before. I picked her up as the men working for my father came in to see what the commotion was.
“Sorry about that. Someone should have told her what happened before I walked in here.” The rest of the day was spent just moving around and getting used to my body as I waited for my mother to wake up so I could speak with her. As I walked in she looked at me with tears in her eyes. I couldn’t help but smile, her pain at my situation was finally gone. Tears running down her face she spoke. “I can’t believe it. This feels like a dream. How many times have I prayed for you to get better, no one knew what was wrong with you. Come, give your mom a hug.”
I moved up and hugged my mom, the most she did was sit next to me in bed and hold my hand. I was holding back tears as well, I couldn’t believe how good and bad my luck was. To be struck down with this incurable illness that only because I was born into a rich family could be solved. I had been given a huge advantage and knowledge most of the world didn’t know from enduring my painful illness. Trapped in my body unable to move to a perfect body everyone would be jealous of. It was hard not to have mixed feelings over the whole situation.
I let my mother go as I spoke to my father. “Can you bring me a list of these things?” He looked it over before giving me a questionable eye as I waited for the items to arrive. My father watched on in shock as I began to make the items disappear by putting them into my inventory. I had tested the size of my inventory but as it stood, it looked to be almost limitless. I stored a BMW and boat without any signs that the size was affected.
Nen might be cool but an AK-47 could solve just as many problems as special aura powers and a briefcase full of money could solve twice as many problems. I wondered if I could drop the boat onto a person to kill them but as I tried to the icon for allowing it glowed red. I wasn’t going to kill one of my father's men but it was nice to find it out now instead of when I tried to use it in a fight. I got to the best part now. I smirked as I put my hand out wondering how the skill worked.
I thought about how to use summon minion and the gamer’s mind gave me clear information on how to use it. I needed to think of a minion to use and whatever I think of will appear. Picking a stronger minion will make my Nen run out faster and because of my specialist Nen type, I could pretty much choose anything to be my minion… Including game characters, manga characters, or cartoon characters where they’d have the same properties they had in their original world.
So I could summon Tom the cat from Tom and Jerry and he’d be impossible to kill but very weak and him being unkillable would make me burn through my Nen at a rapid pace. Jerry would take relatively less because he was a smaller target. Summoning a person with no superpowers was the cheapest option for useful summons. So… Who did I summon first?
Chapter 03
How about Bulma from Dragon Ball Z? She’s a normal low-powered woman and she’s very sexy to boot. My summon skill was showing its weaknesses as I would never be able to summon someone like Android 18 or other strong characters. Hell, Master Roshi could destroy the moon at a power level of like two hundred. Summoning her she is practically right against me as I do so. I go to speak but pass out before I get the chance to.

Intellect +1
I woke up just a few minutes later, my body fully recovering from almost instantly depleting my Nen. Gamer’s body working overtime the moment I went to sleep. I wondered how long it took everyone else to fully recover after expending their energy. It was probably like running a marathon, if the person drained themselves completely it would take weeks of recovery before they were back at one hundred percent.
I decided that leveling my summon minion skill was all I was going to do that day until I could hold a conversation with Bulma. Laying down in my bed I began to summon her directly on top of me. The second time I summoned her she managed to get halfway through a sentence before I passed out. Slowly but surely I worked on it until I reached twenty. At that point, I could speak to her for a few minutes before I started to get tired and could stop it before I passed out or kept going.
Twenty wasn’t enough though, I kept doggedly grinding my skills taking full advantage of passing out from lack of Nen to instantly replenish my Nen. Summon Minion reached twenty-five and I got a pop-up.
Summon Minion reached a breakthrough level! Please select an option
Multi-Summon- Allows you to summon more than one character
Dismiss Summon- Dismissing a summon gives back 50% of the Nen spent on the summon
Inanimation- Summoning animate objects is now possible
None of the options are really that good. Right now I was struggling with a single summon, in the future, it would be the best option but who knows how long it would take to get to having an army up for more than a second until I passed out. Even with all those negatives, it was still more useful than the other two that were completely useless. Sure I could summon Excalibur or something but then I’d pass out right away. I picked multi-summon and moved on.
My summon minion reached level thirty, then forty. Every few levels of the skill I would gain another intellect reaching six extra points for pretty much free. Each time I summoned it lasted longer and longer before I finally reached fifty.
Summon Minion reached a breakthrough level! Please select an option
Affinity- Build affinity with each summon, the higher the affinity the less the Nen cost to summon them
Siphon summon- Gain 10% of the stats of any minion you’ve summoned
Outside access- Allows summons to function outside of your aura
…Mother fucker, all of those options were good! Affinity was necessary if I wanted the minions to stick around for any real amount of time, which hurt because both the other options were also good. I could finally talk with Bulma but this was the first time she remembered being summoned. I could move her around but if I thought about how useless a summon minion would be if it was only a five-foot radius… I fucking wish it was a five-foot radius.
Bulma had to practically be touching me otherwise she risked disappearing in a puff of smoke. Slowly I explained my situation to her as she grew to understand before she asked. “If you could summon anyone? Why me?” I thought about it more before I explained. “Well, for one you’re gorgeous. Not only are you beautiful but you also have the brains to back it up. You’ve probably thought of a million different ways to utilize my powers or improve upon them. Even if not you could think of a gadget or something to help me.”
Bulma couldn’t help but blush as our bodies rubbed against each other. My hand roamed her body which felt completely real to the touch. Was it kind of weird that I was thinking about fucking my summon? Maybe, did I care… Not even a little bit. I couldn’t help myself as I moved in and kissed her, this Bulma was the one at the beginning of DBZ who just broke up with Yamcha. Short blue hair, I wondered if I summoned a Bulma at a different point of time would I need to build her affinity again? Could I have had more than one Bulma summoned at the same time?
The answer was no to having more than one summoned. Well, no exploiting my summons to massively increase my affinity with one then summoning them over and over again. No to that but as I kissed her she kissed me back. Her strawberry-flavored lipstick gives it a unique feel. Was this technically masturbation? Being attractive is such a cheat but Bulma was always looking for a good boyfriend.
That was the entire reason why she wanted to wish on the dragon balls. You could even say that Bulma being thirsty for a boyfriend was the reason why the Dragon Ball series existed. She was also in her rebound state as Yamcha just broke up with her. I placed one hand on her breast as I rolled her off of me before kissing her even more deeply.
I was still clumsy in this body, my mind still getting used to all the new sensations of moving without pain. I took off her top and looked down at her perfect perky breasts. As I moved to take off her pants we break contact for a moment and she poofs out of existence… I couldn’t help but yell. “Mother fucker!” Why is this a thing? How the fuck do I make my aura expand out more than an inch or two off of my body? Was it even possible?
It had to be, otherwise, what was the point in having summoned minion as an option unless it was to completely troll me? I thought about it, what did the description say? Life energy is produced by the body. So was it possible to push that life energy out in an attempt to expand my aura further than my body? My freshly improved intellect pulled double duty on allowing me to figure it out. As I struggled to push my life force from my body, it suddenly all clicked.
Aura gained subskill Ten- Increases the radius of aura outside the body
Quest completed- Gain a Skill!
Aura smell 01- Can smell everything inside your aura

I couldn’t really feel it but I knew that the range my aura reached was now farther than before. If I were to guess, it was about a five-foot radius from my body… Yay! I got it to where I thought it would be shit and was happy with it. On top of that expanding my aura to that size was draining, I could only do it for about ten minutes at the moment… But that might be a good way to level my aura skill.

Aura smell 04- Can smell everything inside your aura
I have made a significant amount of progress since I gained this body. It hadn’t even been a day but I had reached the peak of human strength by being reborn and my otherworldly powers were growing so quickly they both would reach level 100 by the end of the day. Expanding my aura was like filling a balloon with one breath of air. The more I filled it the faster it drained my Nen. I could expand to about thirty feet now but it was difficult to keep it up for the full ten minutes at that size. Expanding it more than that would rapidly drain my Nen.
That sounds bad but passing out was a good thing for me. As I reached level 25 in aura I wiped off the sweat from my body before looking at the changes.
Aura reached a breakthrough level! Please select an option
Sub up- Unlocks all the subskills for aura
Perfect control- Allows you to keep a perfect 10ft sphere at no cost but expanding it is far more difficult and expensive
Nen technique- Gain another Nen technique at random
…Another difficult choice. Sub up seems amazing but the biggest problem was I could gain subskills through practice. If I just waited until I found a good enough teacher I could get them all eventually. Perfect control was the best option for leveling my aura even further but that was thinking short-sighted. I had only been working on it for an hour and it was already reaching three times the amount it wanted to cap me at. Who knew how big my area could grow in my lifetime if I was this far already? I chose Nen technique.
Daily log-in reward- Once per day if you open your menu you’ll be rewarded with a random item, stat, skill level
No level on that Nen technique either but it seemed like it would be amazing for growing my potential for free. It was used immediately as I had my menu open.
First-time log-in reward! +1 to all stats, +2 to all skills, 3 gold bricks
Each gold brick was about 150 million jenny, so 450 million for free(slightly more than 3 million USD). That plus the 100 million jenny briefcase I had enough money to comfortably buy anything I wanted if it was required. I got back to grinding placing items around the room to continue to smell them with my aura smell, it seemed kind of useless but if I leveled it to twenty five it might gain more versatility.
Aura reached a breakthrough level! Please select an option
Gravity is relative- Gain slight control over gravity inside your aura, the closer to you the more control
Guardian- Choose one animal that will always exist in your aura for free, if the guardian is killed it will reappear after you sleep
Party aura link- Allows you to piggyback off party members' aura for your techniques
…Fuck, another difficult choice with three good ones. Party aura link is the first I did away with. It sounded cool but I hadn’t seen another person use aura and didn’t know how big theirs would be. Guardian seemed great but… If I picked gravity is relative would I be able to fly after my aura became big enough? That was why I picked it. As I locked in I could immediately feel my body become lighter. Even now it was about 50%, which meant at max I would be 100% lighter. It wasn’t flying but I bet I could get some crazy jumps with enough strength to launch myself. I had made it to sixty-seven aura before my aura smell hit twenty-five.
Aura smell reached a breakthrough level! Please select an option
Pleasant scent- Choosing this will give you a permanent pleasant smell that changes depending on the person who is smelling you
Poison scan- If something is poisonous it will have a foul smell to it
Pheromones- Females inside your aura will find you slightly more attractive
Dude… Why do I keep getting these good choices now? Give me a clearly worse one instead of all good or all bad, please! Well, the pleasant scent is gone. As useful as that would be for not showering I didn’t plan on not showering so it wasn’t really that much of a problem. Poison scan seemed super useful… But I was a horny guy and wondered if pheromones would affect future choices. Aura smell was a gimmick skill in my opinion so any bonus it gave was worth it. I picked pheromones.
As I kept grinding one of my bodyguards finally knocked on the door before quietly speaking. “Dinner is ready.” I breathed in as sweat dripped down my face and I passed out for the last time right as I reached 75 with aura.
Aura reached a breakthrough level! Please select an option
Minion manipulation- Minions can survive outside your aura at four times the cost
Small roster- Reduces the number of minions you can choose to five but they’ll cost 10% their price
Recycle Nen- The cost of Nen abilities is reduced if you or others have used Nen techniques in that area, cost reduction caps at 50%
This was a tough one. In the long run, Recycle Nen would be the best but it was also the most boring. Minion manipulation sounded good but once again it was less impressive as my aura kept growing. Small roster wasn’t going to happen. Sure it meant that I could summon Bulma for hours now but I wanted a large… Roster of teammates to rely on. I picked recycle Nen even though it was boring because it was the best and moved on. We ate, and my mother cooked even with all the butlers and maids as she had her entire life. She was always such a kind soul which made me feel awful that my illness was her biggest heartache in life.

I increased my weight on myself as I started to struggle to eat. I wasn’t sure but tomorrow I needed to see if I could improve my stats through exercise. If I could then there was no reason to use my unused stat points until I needed them. My mother noticed. “What’s wrong Cloud? You seem to be having problems eating… Is it…”
She didn’t have to finish her sentence as I cut off that train of thought. “No, I’m actually increasing the gravity on myself to train my body… It’s harder than it looks though.” I spread it to the guards and all of them were only getting about a quarter of the effect but were struggling more than me. When one of the guards who had been with us the longest went to take a drink I flipped the gravity making it super light causing him to launch his drink into the air.
My laughing let everyone know it was because of me as I stopped messing around. I was just ecstatic, for almost ten years I was a cripple and now I was a magician bodybuilder. It felt surreal. I could see the weight had been lifted from my parents but it looked like they were waiting for the ball to drop. They both thought I’d die, the money my father offered had been a hail mary attempt to save me. The fact that it did left both of them feeling anxious.
I picked up my chair and moved it between my two parents as I kept eating. The food was always good and my mother treated the bodyguards and maids like family so it just rubbed off on me as well. Finishing dinner I really wanted to get back to training but we spent the rest of the day playing a board game. It was one of the last things we did together before I was fully bedridden, I remember it took everything I had to move my piece to the end, my parents rigging the game in my favor.
They still viewed me as the small child I was when I got sick. The game we played was four or five years ago, I could still play video games for about a year after before I became almost paralyzed. While I had been cured, my father was looking even further into the process of Nen. As a multibillionaire and one of the true elites of the world, he was given access to information others did not have.
There was a surefire way to cure any disease but it was beyond costly and I was glad getting punched was enough to cure me. I fell into bed tired after playing my part as the good son but I was already getting anxious. I had spent all my life cooped up in this house and even though the smart move would be buckling down and leveling my skills I wanted to go out and explore. What has changed since I was last outside?
I put on my clothes and greeted my parents again. “Hello. I’m headed out for a coffee, which bodyguard should I take?” They tried to talk me out of it but I needed to go outside and they realized it as well. As I motioned for him to move out of the driver's seat he gave me a side eye but accepted it. I didn’t know how to drive a stick but it shouldn’t be that hard to learn right?...
“Well… At least it was only a six million jenny luxury sports car.” The bodyguard tried to placate me after I somehow blew the engine and crashed into a railing at the same time. “Yeah, we’ll just hoof it, the coffee shop is only six miles from here right?” I waited for him to realize I was being serious before I opened up my aura and applied gravity to myself while making him weigh slightly less. After just a mile I got the verification I was looking for.
Weighted running has increased strength, agility, and endurance by +1
Another mile and even I was feeling the pressure of the increased weight. I waited for the next alert before I lessened the gravity on myself so I wouldn’t be panting while my bodyguard looked fine. I think he’d have been fine even if I increased his gravity… I wondered if I could see his stats. “Yo… Wait a second.” I figured out how to invite him to a party before making one.
Cloud Black LVL 01 Gamer
Ken Sanderson LVL 14 Bodyguard
So I can see his level, I wondered how he increased it but it probably had to do with being a bodyguard, he had been with us for about seven years now, maybe two levels a year. I couldn’t figure it out but there was a definite lack of information. How else would I check his stats… Maybe focusing aura into my eyes? I thought about it and gave my bodyguards a hard stare trying to focus my Nen until I felt that familiar pop again as I gained a new skill.
Skill gained Observe 01- System altered version of gyo, allows scanning a person place, or thing as well as what was possible through the use of gyo
I scanned Ken and was greeted with his stats.

Woah, I was surprised at his stats. They were higher in some areas than I thought while being lower in others. I knew I was missing information as well because of my low observe skill. I had thought my stats were great but it appeared they were just average. I needed to find a dungeon and level as well. Training my body I could possibly surpass him in just a day or two as well. My list of things to do just kept getting larger and larger.
I went up and bought my coffee and coffee for the house before another guard showed up in another car to bring us home. As silly as this was, I did learn a lot… If I get a vehicle, it shouldn’t be a stick is one thing. My bodyguards are much stronger than I thought they were. Finally, I needed to get stronger before I looked into the hunter exam if I was average I needed to be far above average before I even bothered.
I was going to hardcore grind when I got home and try to reach a hundred in my two important skills before grinding my stats.
