Alvida rolled over and looked at my back as I began to put my clothes back on. She let out a contented moan as she asked. “So. What’s the plan going forward?” I stepped into my boots before tossing on a shirt. “Well, we keep recruiting people for Luffy’s fleet and help him become the king of the pirates.” She looked at me confused as she sat up with her feet dangling off the bed. “Why do you follow him?”
I turned back to look at her. “Because. He has the devil's luck. When we first met I was going to capture him for his bounty along with all of the other bounties that arrived with him including yours. He fell into a trap by Buggy and had no hope of living and yet… He still managed to survive his own execution and he did it with a smile on his face ready to accept death. The only other pirate I’ve known to be like that was the pirate king. I knew then that I needed to follow him no matter what.”
It was more to it than that but I didn’t want to explain it to her. I was fine living my apathetic life of claiming easy bounties and just making my way through life but seeing Luffy like that and all the other times he narrowly escaped death over and over again. Getting swallowed by a whale and then fist-fighting it, eating drugged food even after being warned.
Hell, even right now after dismissing one of my clones I could see him feeding a drink to the duck to give it a brain freeze. He was just insanely lucky and a fun guy to be around. It wasn’t just him either, each crew member brought a unique feeling to the ship. I had been on many crews when I made my way back to Loguetown but none of them felt even close to the same as his.
That being said. “Well, we’re getting close. Grab those sea prism handcuffs while I explain my plan.”
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
We arrived on the island and our logpose was already filled and pointing in a different direction. “Huh, that was quick. These normally take a few days to fill.” Well, I had originally planned to spend a few days waiting for the pose to point toward the next island before I went forward with my plan. I pulled the three prisoners down off the ship as I made my way towards the marine base here.
I entered the branch and got many shocked looks as I brought the three wanted criminals through the building. Thankfully most of these were designed the same so I practically knew where everything was. It sucked, this was a resort island but we were going to be leaving as soon as we landed. Glove was the head here, I think he was only a commander rank, one rank lower than Smoker.
The island was a resort which meant it had a bigger police force but a weaker overall leader because many other marines would take their vacations here. It made it easier to steal from them but if they managed to spread the fact that someone was attacking the island you would have higher-ranking marines and possibly even pirates who didn’t want to rock the boat attack you.
Glove looked at me before speaking. “I heard you joined the Strawhat crew.” I looked around. “Does it look like I’m part of any pirate crew? Smoker is upset that he let them go and is blaming me for his mess. I feel sad for him that he cares that much about his reputation. Can you give me the bounties on these three here?” He looked at me with a questioning gaze before nodding his head and bringing in a few marines to escort the prisoners to the holding cells until they could be taken to a better prison.
I don’t think they would be sent to impel down but I could be wrong. As I’m led to the door where the treasure is kept I club the guy on the back of the head before dragging him into the room and splitting into ten clones to rapidly collect all the belly. Now, why did this work? Shouldn’t they have better security? Normally yes they would. The security snails inside the room would have alerted the entire base the moment I did this.
The room itself had an open window(yes this is almost every single marine stronghold) that would let me knock both out with a slingshot before claiming the reward for the prisoners. I gather everything but it’s too heavy to carry away with my smaller clones which was the second part of the plan. As they’re placed in the holding cells, Alvida takes the key and undoes her cuffs(yes they use the same key for all their handcuffs).
She quickly undoes the other two and they get to work. Mr. 5 begins to pull vials of spit out and place them on the wall. Six vials later he places two on the door which they didn’t have the key for. They wait for me to give the signal and after dragging all the treasure to the door I give five knocks to let them know it’s me. Mr. 5 activates his devil fruit and blows a hole in the wall and the door off the hinges as Miss Valentine runs out and makes herself as heavy as possible.
I gave both of them suggestions on their devil fruits as I wondered if Mr. 5 could store secretions for later, which he could. I also wondered if Miss Valentine’s weight change affected her strength, surprise surprise it did. It allowed her to carry thirteen times more weight when she was the maximum weight her devil fruit could reach because it increased the mass of her muscle without increasing her size.
The snails started blaring their sirens to alert everyone but I think the giant explosions already succeeded at drawing attention to us. Alvida and I picked up the bits that Mikita couldn’t carry, not because of weight but because of the size of the load. Alvida began skating on her feet toward the ship and we followed. I was already devising a combustion system to use Gem’s body fluids to propel us forwards but it wasn’t needed for this heist.
All of those were plans for the future. I was both surprised and not at the same time by the ease of the heist, it could have gone smoother but the biggest thing when preparing things like this was not to overcomplicate them. It was hard enough to get Mikita and Gem to agree to help but the alternate was being turned in for real. We also had the best chance for them to escape, as we were drawing more and more attention as we ran towards the opposite end of the shore, where I moved the ship.
As gunfire rang out behind us I couldn’t help but start laughing as I said. “It only took them five minutes before they realized what was happening! We’re already-” That clone was hit and with only missing a beat the one behind formed another picking up his loot and speaking for him. “Gone. They have no chance of-.” Another lucky shot and another clone replacement. “Catching us now.”
The marine who was leaning forward was suddenly struck with a rubber bullet from the sniper clones I had on the ship as they began providing counterfire. We quickly loaded into the rowboat and I yelled at Makita. “Swap you’re weight the boats sinking.” She quickly dropped her weight but did so before she dropped the treasure. With a loud thump, the sudden decrease in strength makes it so the boxes drop directly onto her. She speaks through a squished mouth. “Keep going.” Two of my clones began rowing us to the ship.
