IM/DC Chapter 168
🕑 Added 2024-08-02 17:12:32 +0000 UTCI was slurping noodles from a famous ramen shop when my cell phone started buzzing from Kitty Pryde. I couldn’t help but say in perfect Japanese. “Shōtaimu.”(Showtime.) Tossing yen on the counter I blip to the battlefield. Still eating the ramen as I look over the battlefield. Both sides engaged in a gigantic fight with the important members all splitting off the fight one on one.
That’s how you can tell it’s a comic book because one side isn’t overwhelming the other outright and the deaths are going to be much lower than the spectacle of the giant battlefield would allude to. The Marauders were broken off doing their own thing on the side, most likely making a completely different comic than the Black Panther comic that the real battlefield would take place on.
So the big question was did I help both, one or none? I mentally redirected a killing blow that would have struck Rose Wilson. Blinking over I give her a quick power boost since that side had the unfair advantage that the Marauders couldn’t kill them because they were just mind-controlled metahumans. I kept making similar small changes to the Marauder fight while not outright ending it instantly.
A blade passed straight through Kitty as she caught it on the other side of herself and blocked another blow from hitting Illyana as she fired off blasts that disabled many of the mutants. Orca was cut up and bleeding as she started to slow down until I slapped her on the back instantly healing her wounds and boosting her. The fight started to swing in their direction so I asked Kitty. “Mind if I go check out the battlefield elsewhere or do you still need my help?”
She phased through a big guy before yelling so I could hear her. “Boost me first then go!” I teleported over slapping her on the back. It wasn’t until I was teleporting around looking for anything interesting that I remembered and shouted out loud. “...FUCK! I used my other powers! There goes my self-imposed rule… Well, fuck it then. Full tryhard it is as punishment.”

Achebe’s Point of View
We were making good progress. The mix of starving prisoners, criminals, rebels, and mine and Doom’s voodoo magic golems were fighting on par with their ground forces while Doom’s cyborgs were taking on the elite troops and his doombots were attacking the flying vehicles keeping the battlefield locked in a stalemate. I began to chuckle because that was perfect. The more death the more power that Mephisto can siphon from their deaths.
We had been playing a game of cat and mouse with them for the past few days but everything was all a misdirection from the real goal, which was creating a ritualistic sacrificial circle underneath the prepicked battlefield. My hand puppet turned and looked at me before asking a question. “You think we should help them fight?” I couldn’t help but laugh. Hue hue hue hue “Does it look like they need our he-.”
A swath of troops were all knocked unconscious at once as if they were all struck with an insanely strong spell. It would take so much magic only a handful of people on the planet would be able to cast once but it happened again, then a third time before I began to move in panic towards the battlefield.
Finally viewing the person doing it I’m confused. It was… A normal white man? Normally people that powerful put on costumes so you know how strong they are. The puppet turned towards me to say something else before the man cut him off. “Shut up bitch! I taste… Shitty magic in the air.” The man flew down and looked at the ground as if he could see through it.
“Wait… Did you? Yup, looks like someone put a ritual that will siphon souls to Mephisto. They didn’t lock the direction the magic will get channeled so… And now all the power is being siphoned to me. Thank you kindly.” I reeled back stunned as I felt the connection to a portion of the souls immediately break as the plan to empower the army with the souls of the dead fell through.
A second later I looked over at the loud explosion of our only ship going down. The next second I heard blood-curdling screams as many of the doom cyborgs had their metal ripped from their bodies. The next second without any indication of what happened the doombots began to fall from the sky inactive.
The man teleported back in front of me. I felt he was using me as a soundboard for the entire army we were leading as he sighed and began to speak. “You see how boring things get when I actually try. With my strength, it’s hard not to immediately win any fight I’m in.” He looked at me again as my puppet spoke. “You will die for what you did.”
My hand suddenly exploded killing the puppet in the process. This man clearly wasn’t a hero as my body that was strengthened through my worship of Mephisto began to wane for the first time since I was given my body back. As I feel my powerful body weaken my consciousness fades and I blackout.
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
My foot came down squashing his skull. As fun of a villain as he was. He was still a killer and an agent of Mephisto. Killing him was something that needed to be done otherwise many other lives would be lost. I stepped on his body and wiped his brain matter off his shirt before just biting the bullet and casting a cleaning spell to fully clean the blood off me.
I found the women villains and captured them but I was still looking for the leader. The doom cyborgs and Doombots were a clear sign of who the real enemy was for this war and he hadn’t shown himself yet. I was afraid I made the fight so uneven that Doom would run away. Doom was brave enough to fight gods but at the same time, he was smart enough to know when he was going into a losing fight. He normally has the knowledge or power to swing losing fights in his direction but that wasn’t going to happen this time.
T’Challa walked over with a group of his royal guards as I kept looking for Doom. He spoke with a smile on his face. “I assume it was you who tilted the battle in our favor then? Thanks to you we have won!” As if he was waiting I heard his voice and couldn’t help but smile. “YOU HAVE NOT WON! YOU’VE ONLY SLOWED YOUR DOOM!”
I couldn’t help but chuckle as I was proud he stuck around even while completely outnumbered by an army and a mystery person who thwarted his plans. Doom was here for the vibranium… I was surprised he brought his smoking-hot mother with him as well.
