Kroashent: The Legacy
🕑 Added 2021-07-17 18:55:42 +0000 UTCI suppose it was only a matter of time after the Hastilude for this to happen. In hindsight, it was stupid. I should have just kept my head down. I don't regret the choice I made, but that doesn't make it easier. But I wasn't about to let that putain use House Bisclavret's Arms. I would do it again, just to see that smug look vanish from that creep's eyes. What is done is done, and I live with the consequences.
A heraldist from Roazhon showed up at the Ash and Hazel today, well into his cups. Those quill-scribblers can't hold their tongues or their liquor. He recognized me, unfortunately and was rather upset about the whole ordeal. Evidentially House Frihep has been stirring things up there, to no one's surprise and this buffoon proudly proclaimed that the Arms that Melion wore were from a tainted line from the start. I broke his face and sent his friends scrambling out into the Forest. Haizea will give me hell for it tomorrow, but I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.
The worst part is that I can't even truly disagree with him. What he says was all true. How fitting that that cursed line ends with me, the bastard who became the Oathbreaker. All the finery and prose only hides what everyone knows. The heraldists say that sire of House Bisclavret was the "Great" Sir Guyon of Dreger, loyal friend to the Golden Falcon and champion against the Black Dog of Poher, ending the line of the accursed Conomor. Guyon's own arms, incorporated into House Bisclavret's? Vert, three Bezant. Three golden coins on a field of green. The three coins that Muludmarec paid a mercenary. There was no grand quest against evil. Our great founder was paid to be there. Off to an auspicious start.
And the blood of Conomor, wiped from the world? We all know that isn't true either...
That little encounter has put me in a fowl mood, and the timing of it doesn't help. I'm reminded of Melion, standing on the crown, watching the sea, the wolf of Frehel fluttering on the standard behind him. He really seemed to think that that standard meant something beyond the shit and blood that we find ourselves in. He was so sure of it. He claimed I was his daughter to the day he died and would have challenge that heraldist where he stood. Probably wouldn't have broken his nose, but rather his credibility. I suppose, in a way, it is fitting that I am the last of House Bisclavret. In the whole line of things, my father was the exception, and I am a return to normalcy to bring things to a close...
