This is a very impressive book. Not only is it the only comprehensive biography of this fascinating man, but it is an incredibly succesful marriage of accessible, engaging historical narrative and rigourous, nuanced scholarship. The amount of work put into this is so impressive. I highly recommend the book to anyone interested in the subject!

Filip - maybe I'm one of the few here who wouldn't know enough, to know if interested in this subject and would just blindly Google his name without your (better than most) guidance? Could you enter a bit more on context of this persona/subject? I love history in general and spiritual impacts in particular (guess that describes your followers!)
