I think it is similar, yes! I think some have even described the hesychast prayer as a kind of navel gazing. Although I'm not all too familiar with that term and its use.

Is this similar to the practice of Navel gazing? Absolutely loved how the energies as a description was used, tapping into these subtle energies is becoming harder to do when we are so fixated on the material.
