Squid Game 2 - Episode 3 | REACTION
🕑 Added 2024-12-27 03:11:17 +0000 UTCMan crazily enough, so far all I've really seen in my YouTube comments about this season are complaints about how "boring" it is or how it "sucks and will never live up to the first season", but do people not understand that this isn't the purpose of this season?
Season 1 was so novel and out of control with its reception that nothing, let alone a second season could even hope to live up to that. On top of that even, as the novelty has worn off and this season expands on the story which many of us are already familiar with, things are going to feel new but familiar, and exciting, but in a different way: here we have the excitement of kind of knowing how this thing goes, as opposed to the shock factor that season 1 had.
That said, I think this season so far for me is so much more about paying attention to the social commentary and underlying themes - something which I didn't really pay much mind to in season 1. Season 1 for me was so much more about action and death and the tough to watch scenes that the underlying themes didn't hit until later, whereas this season is the opposite. So far, its a really refreshing change of pace and whilst action and pew pew pew KABOOM is great and all, seeing these characters become more complex and lines blurring between who/what is right or wrong is so much more enjoyable for me.
What do you guys think? Let me know below!
Oh also - enjoy the episode! We're back on the island! Ahhhh

Damn you said it perfectly. Same game, new characters, nostalgia and just pure tension. They did that so well. Only on episode 3 but I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy this season more than the first. Glad I started this with you, Lok!

Regardless of opinion, it’s not meant to live up to the first season…because the creator never meant to make more than one season, but got pressured into it by Netflix (ironically proving the point of the show). 😭

Coming to this after binge watching season 1, season 2 is a study as to the why where as season 1 was shock and awe. The people in this season also seem to have much more debt. Social commentary and psychology aside it is going to be a ride.

It’s interesting we can see from the perspectives of the staff now. So far No-eul is definitely among the characters I’m interested in. 🙌

No worries man I gotcha

Him having already played the games and knowing whats to come isnt really much of an argument anyways. If nobody dies the price money wont increase. We might aswell stop then and there its not like anything would change.

Season one had the shock factor. Season two is just good stuff. So much social commentary and character portrayals.

I had a feeling but I had to ask. Thanks

i totally agree, also idk what people expected. season 1 is great, but season 2 is also good. generell i dont think its boring or bad at all. people just love to complain. people saying season 2 wasnt needed is also weird to me. yeah, when you think about what season 1 stands for, i get it. but within the squid game universe, just having 1 season would have felt so incomplete. definitly not disapointed in this season

Let's go man! That's so awesome to hear you're enjoying it. And facts! The writing is so good and the acting has improved so much! There's so much more depth to this now than just "woooo look at all those people dying damn" and I like that a lot for whatever Season 3 looks like.

Bro, I haven’t seen any of your reactions. But the family and I sat down today and have been having a great time. I enjoyed the first season greatly. But as my brother and I were talking, we have been loving this second season. The writing and characters have been incredible to watch and enjoy. The acting has stepped up from the first season. The first season was like, “damn, people are dying.” This season is me hoping for particular characters to make it. And now we have two episodes left, lmao. We had to force ourselves to stop and finish tomorrow. It's a great second season.

I'd honestly say you need to watch the first season to know what's going on. This season carries on from Season 1 so you'll have a looooooooooot missing if you skip it imo

I haven't seen season one yet but does this seasons story completely different from the first? I was excited that Yuri was in this that i was thinking on watching this first.
