Additional shows / movies / genres?
🕑 Added 2024-07-30 04:56:03 +0000 UTCHey guys - hope you're all well!
If you haven't had a chance yet to look at the recent post which is the watchlist for this month then click here but this post is just regarding some additional types of shows and content I've been thinking about bringing over here and I wanted to see what you thought.
To cut to the chase, it's no lie that Asian media and our collective love for / interest in whether it be Korean or Japanese music, movies, dramas or anime has brought us together, but something that has been on my mind for a while is the question:
"What about WESTERN media?"
I'm not really the type of person who's SUPER into Western media honestly, because movies generally lost their charm for me some time ago, and I'd fallen out of some TV shows quite a while back and never truly got back at all.
That said though, there are plenty of shows (PLEASE don't kill me for those I'm about to mention lmao) that I haven't watched, and seeing how I've really enjoyed venturing into longer shows like One Piece and Naruto over here which I never thought I'd watch and also some dramas, I thought "why not then? why can't this work?"
Some of the shows / franchises I'm talking about here are:
Lord Of The Rings (I haven't seen it 😭)
Game Of Thrones (the classic ol' One Piece problem: by the time I was interested there was too much to catch up on)
Avatar The Last Airbender (not an anime but more of a Western animated TV show, I was a Cartoon Network and Disney Channel kid, not Nickelodeon)
and more!
I'm also here to see whether you guys would be interested as well in more movies in general (Korean, Western and Japanese) and also animated movies too say like the Ghibli movies. Spirited Away got a little love over here when we shared it but I didn't get a grasp really on whether you guys would be chilling with that too.
So if possible, let me know below!
Would you be interested in content like this also? (yes I'm going to do it because I want to if / when I want to, but tell me what YOU think!)
Thanks for the love and vibes always guys, and I'll look forward to seeing your responses!

As long as you know what you're getting into re: GOT (as in, content-wise, not necessarily writing, which is a different story lmao), I'm all for it! I'm also more than happy to offer recs if you'd be open to it and give me some guidelines to work with!

All this sounds good I'll be down gotta admit tho never seen the first two LOTR or GOT & only seen a quarter of ATLA so I'll be down watching it with you!

I've been waiting for some more Ghibli after you did Spirited Away! Same for me, I've never seen GOT and I honestly don't remember LOTR. Lol but your reactions help me venture into stuff I normally wouldn't on my own. 😁 definitely interested.

I vote you watch the How To Train Your Trilogy
Stups99
I’m not sure what your tastes are…but out of the three things you listed…Lord of the Rings is a classic and needs to be watched lol. Also if you like the Karate Kid movies, then Cobra Kai is a good series on Netflix to watch…new season was just released.

Mother of Dragons, you have not seen LOTR or GOT we must give ourselves up as tribute so you can watch them with us.🤦🏽♀️

Shut the front door, you've never seen Lord of the Rings?!?! I made it my whole personality in middle school lol. I'm down for anything tho to be honest.

an Arcane reaction would be super cool too if that's up for consideration (relatively shorter so maybe easier to start with)
Mike
Probably comedies, skits, or general reaction stuff. Or games?

Always down for another rewatch of game of thrones! Don't let peoples disappointment of the ending put you off, while it was rushed and could have been done better, it was still entertaining and worth watching. And the first 4-5 seasons are some of the best tv ever made imo.

Oh, bro fuck yeah. Never seen LOTR. Let's fucking do it. My big-ass geek heart is ready. GOT either. Damn, we got work, my guy. I'm curious: What else haven't you seen before? 🤔

A+++ to Ghibli and LotR Also for GoT bc I can’t be invested in it past season 4, so I’ll need the lok reactions to keep me going lol

I was gonna watch Game of Thrones too, considering at least! Gonna be nice to add more variance to contents bruh

It'd be a change of pace but fun! I gravitate toward Korean stuff mostly but there's some gems out there

Yeah, even if you watch nothing else from Western media, do watch the LOTR trilogy. And if I may recommend, you should watch Cyberpunk Edgerunners on Netflix by Studio Trigger, very good mix of Western writers and Japanese animators and only 10 eps. Won Anime of the Year too!
DangerMac
You didn't miss much with game of thrones. Did not stick the landing at all. Consider yourself lucky

I hope you can watch and react to Lord of The Rings, the best trilogy movies of all time, IMHO. ...and one more thing, instead of watching and reacting to Game of Thrones, I would recommend you to watch best TV series ever: Breaking Bad (if you haven't watched yet).

Movie nights get the green light from me man - weekend movie nights with the Patreon homies would be lit

This would be my excuse to watch ATLA finally so that's my vote. Movie nights are a pretty cool idea too 👍(No idea why I typed "movie nights" when I meant "movies" my bad lmao)
