When I was a kid, one could say my siblings (me-female, one sister 2 years older, one brother 4 years younger) had created a tulpa, We had an imaginary brother Chuck (to balance out the boy girl ratio). Arguably, we were kind of creepy kids (but that is another story). We invented this imaginary brother Chuck who was 2 years between my brother and me. After a while we sent Chuck “away to live at the home”, and now he is just a faded memory of a boy.

I feel more like I’m in between real and real-ish cause I think it could be either one or both. I never have concrete theories on these things unless I’ve had real personal experience.

My theory is that it is a form of disassociation. I feel like the distinction between "real" or not depends on what you mean by "real". It's not separate from you, but it is more than just a hallucination.
