and welcome to another Jawesome Possum Update!
This week we released a new Quickie episode where we go on what seems to be a date with our teacher? Huh.
This past week has been rather odd for me as I have been doing a lot of editing and a lot of reflecting. More of the reflecting later.
This week I edited the segments we filmed the week prior for JPW and when I say segments I mean just Josiah's. My computer is definitely not top of the line and had some difficulty editing the greenscreen effects plus multi-camera. I got it down though and we recorded the commentary for JPW 4 this weekend.
Unfortunately the quality is not the best. I may keep it however since it was our raw, genuine reactions and I don't know if we can replicate that. It's easy for me (Sal) to be surprised cause I normally film the matches a month or two in advance so I kinda forget what happens anyway. I will try to get the audio to a suitable level but it may need to be redone.
Now onto the rebranding! At the end of the month I am going to be overhauling everything and I mean everything, hell I might even start earlier just because. Jawesome Possum is going to have an all new look to it. Which is very exciting for me. Next week's Onimusha video will be the last with the old art, intro and outro. You shall be missed <3
Last but not least, my reflection. Earlier this year I said very proudly that Jawesome Possum will hit 1,000 subscribers this year and if it did not I would be stepping aside or greatly reducing the amount of content put out.
I stand by this.
As we near the latter half of 2020, the world has been struck with a deadly virus that is killing and sweeping everywhere. Not to mention the killing of George Floyd that has struck a much needed revolution. Combine all that with a terrible president we have decried here on Jawesome Possum since before his election, it has been a most awful year. The world is rightfully tuned into the matters at hand. Not so much my silly lewd gaming videos.
I am not blaming the problems of the world on the lack of success my channel has seen, but it definitely kicked a dog while it was down.
At this point we are not on track to hit 1,000 subs by year's end. I love doing JP and will continue doing it in some fashion. However, I cannot commit 100% of my efforts as I would like. The reason we have videos out every week is because of the time spent working on them. Not to mention our monthly show, JPW. These are efforts that could be used elsewhere.

Unfortunately, I am a man of many passions and ideas. These things lead me down avenues and areas I do not expect. The resurgence of Jawesome Possum at the end of last year came out of a desire to put out content relatively quickly to, for once, feel like I was accomplishing something.
Pavel Hall, as proud of it as I am, ended in a resounding thud. My musical career did not take off. The Escape Pod has floundered in the desire to be relevant while also wanting to produce good, quality content. And my writing has not seen the light of day.
I found a fun niche with JP but lewd videos are not what I want to be doing forever. I don't want to see the views and subs decreasing and think "Well, I need to do another lewd video." Because even then, those types of videos are losing their novelty.
This isn't to say that JP is over. It's just going to change. I tried for nearly a year to produce top rate quality content consistently and while yes, it did give the channel a boost, not a big enough of one.
Which fucking sucks.
After 4 and a half years, a bit over 300 subs should not be where we are at. At this point I know it isn't the content. I know I make good stuff, that isn't ego, that's just working at this for so long and honing the craft.
For now on I am going to be experimenting with ways to reduce the amount of work Jawesome Possum requires. Don't expect my crazy editing unless it's for a special video. I am going to try to ease off the gas and take it slow.
I want to work on my book. I miss writing and story telling.
In a closing note, there is a trend I have noticed after being on the internet for so long. Success is a bitch and is dodgy. You can work your whole life at something and never get noticed while someone else who is less talented and less dedicated than you gets noticed and skyrockets to success. Success doesn't care about you or how hard you work. It may eventually, it probably won't. So I'm not expecting it to. JP is something I care deeply about and will keep working at. If that means most of my videos are chill long plays with the occasion ten-minute meme video in the hopes of hitting some viral acclaim, fine.
But I am not throwing away my shot
Stay Jawesome <3
