The gloomhaven board game is legit reallllly good, pretty hard though(highly recommended for board ae players, probably not the easiest to get into for casuals). I've bought the switch game and if I'm honest I get what you mean, I still feel like it's worth persevering probably, but I haven't actually got past the tutorials and the first mission yet. Tracking the monsters and setting the game up is the most tedious bit of the board game so I thought have the switch do that for you would be great, but the controls are pretty horrible.
