Hardwar
🕑 Added 2023-10-03 12:54:11 +0000 UTCHardwar is an elite game, but set in the misty craters of Titan out in to orbit of Saturn. Society there has collapsed, and the player is tasked with... well, basically just managing to leave, or fool around.
I bought it back in the day but only played it a little. I didn't like the FMV stuff (which was also in Privateer 2 and later Wing Commander games). Also, the Moth/ship designs were... well okay I guess, but I think an Elite+Wipeout style would be more up my alley (and fit the Designer's Republic thing that's going on). The ships can't leave the atmosphere of the craters (will stall iirc), so I thought it could be interesting if they are hover ships which go faster near the ground (where there are obstacles of course). It would explain being stuck, and also give the player a bit of strategical choice in battle (rather than altitude being just another dimension which is a bit flat). Ships could have more interesting performance differences too. Cheap ground hover cars just can't go up at all.
Also from my social media:
Space 1999 Eagle redesign - Here I wanted to see what it looked like with some VTOL engines. I gave it a small radiator, but couldn't squeeze in realistic fuel tanks, so I was thinking perhaps it's compact nuclear engines of some sort. Nuclear power is a theme of the show.
Signalis - Haven't played (not much for horror games) but I liked the PS1 aesthetics and character designs.

Beautiful re-imagining of the Eagle. Perhaps my favourite sci-fi ship of all time.
