I'm not sure how good a fit the Cepheus Engine is, given my lore. Perhaps this more suitable for the BRP system. I think Star Frontiers used a % system too. Cepheus Engine suggested adding ship+30% volume for hangars, but after some tests I think that's an order of magnitude off for practical hangars. I'd have to change the SRD quite a bit to make it work.
Sci-fi is a tricky match for TTRPGs in general, because of the variety in scale (from starships down to fisticuffs), but I guess it's down to the GM & players to work out suitable transitions. I think I mentioned earlier that considering the ship (or perhaps company) as the actual persistent, upgradable character, and the PCs more as hitpoints is a way to manage it.
I could also use the setting for a short story or something I guess, having gotten a bit of an appetite for writing recently (unsure about sharing anything yet).
