Reggie doesn't strike me as a romantic per se, but I feel like when he's being earnest he'd do it accidentally. Maybe he'd even pick up on the visual cues that would let him know the comment landed better than he intended.
Alex not being used to that kind of sincerity and taking a moment to process it with a deflection seems right for her.

I think Reggie's politeness means he'll say this about her eyes, now. When they're both unclothed? He may say that about her body being uncovered. That's the kind of flirting I imagine Alex to appreciate.
