New Ambience: The Great Lift

This week's track started from a set-piece idea about a clifftop castle, market, civilization etc. that had only one point of access. Over millennia a massive system of platform lifts was built and added on to. This was essentially a vertical rail that ferried passengers to and from.
I seem to be focused on large machines lately (see last week's Terraforming). The Great Lift has a more dark-fantasy vibe. The constant churn of the winches, the creaking of the ropes and chains. The voyage up and down could take an hour or more. An interesting opportunity for storytelling, or platform-based action sequences.
Musically this track is what I'd call 'heavy orchestral'. Large drums and low brass keep the momentum. String ostinatos and tubular bells come and go as the energy ebbs and flows. On its own, it can be a fairly useful underscore track for a variety of scenes.
As this track is in patron-only sneak-peek mode, I've attached the mixed version (live on the site next week), as well as music-only, and ambience-only versions. Additionally, I created 2 'no-lift' versions which are essentially the cliff environment, plus a wooden structure. I hope these add some utility and could be useful for stories where the lift isn't working, has been abandoned, etc.

I love how the noise of the lift ties in with the constant pressure of the precussions. It implies a kind of impending and literally unstoppable event.
