I hadn't heard about this until the ol patreon peeps sent me this email. I'll go into my setting and see if I can adjust knobs and tweak levers until this doesn't really affect you guys. I apologize on behalf of the treasury department or whichever economic screwball department brought this change about.
But we all know that if there's money involved, someone is going to look for their cut....
But I included a picture of a new shirt I ordered!
Hopefully by now you’ve heard that we’re being required by law to start adding sales tax to more patron pledges starting July 1st. We’re here to help you and your patrons get prepared, and we’ve included links to all the info you need in this email.
If you haven’t already, we highly recommend that you reach out to your patrons personally before we email them on June 1st. We really think they’ll appreciate hearing it from you first!
In addition, you can use our new sales tax settings to potentially save patrons money on taxes, so we highly recommend you use them!
Resources to help you prepare:
Info and FAQs about the new sales tax requirements
A sample post you can use to let your patrons know
Guide to our new Advanced Sales Tax settings: these give you more control over how sales tax applies to your patrons and can save them money

Ask any questions you may have in our Community Forum. We’re watching that thread to answer everyone’s questions.
Hoping you’re safe and healthy,
