Two short buzzes: a text message. The butterflies in Dakota’s stomach began to flutter again as he pulled his phone from his pocket and gave the screen a quick glance. Sure enough, the message was from Daddy.
Just pulled up! Need help with your bags?
The time had come. It hadn’t even been two months since Dakota had wet his diaper for the very first time. Now he’d be doing it every day - multiple times a day - for the next three weeks.
It’s not too late, Dakota’s inner monologue raced. You could tell him you’re feeling sick. Or that some type of family emergency came up. Hell, you could just tell him that you’re having second thoughts. He’d probably understand.
Three weeks. It was a hefty chunk of time. Nearly a month. A quarter of his summer break from classes. Certainly a lengthy absence from his adult life. Would his friends and family believe his cover story about going backpacking in Thailand?
Dakota closed his eyes and drew a deep, meditative breath. He again thought back to his first time regressing, his first wet diaper, and all the other things he’d enjoyed doing with Daddy that had once made him apprehensive. He recalled how quickly his apprehension had turned into excitement each time Daddy nudged him to further explore his Little side. Why would this be any different? Sure, it was a decidedly bigger leap than anything he’d experimented with over the past year, but shouldn’t that be part of the thrill?
He recalled when Daddy first proposed the idea. It was a Saturday evening, just a couple weeks after Dakota’s first wetting.
“There ya go Mr. Pottypants” Daddy teased as he finished taping a fresh diaper around Dakota’s waist. “That should keep ya, at least for a little while.”
Dakota blushed, both at the nickname and the implication that his diaper likely wouldn’t stay dry for long. It was true. He’d been wetting with reckless abandon in the short period since he first gave it a shot. There was something so addicting about having a soggy diaper. The warmth, the pleasant dampness, the weight of the waterlogged padding a constant, physical reinforcement of his baby status…. It was new, it was taboo, and it sent him deeper into Littlespace than anything he’d tried previously.
“Oh wow!” Daddy exclaimed as he flipped up the lid on Dakota’s diaper pail to dispose of the boy’s soaked pamper. “I think we’re gonna need a new bag!”
He set the old diaper on the changing table and fished out a fresh liner from the cabinet underneath. Then, skillfully, he extricated the old liner and its contents from the diaper pail and set it beside the changing table directly in Dakota’s line of sight - a decision that was clearly intentional.
Daddy smirked as Dakota stared in bewilderment at the sheer amount of diapers he’d gone through that day. There were at least ten, maybe fifteen in the bag. The boy had been so immersed in his regression that he hadn’t realized how often he’d been wetting.
“What are we gonna do with you, kiddo?” Daddy chided, returning to the diaper pail to install the new liner. “If we’re not careful, you’ll be doing more than just wetting your diapers soon.”
The words and the nefarious wink Daddy gave Dakota as he tossed the wet diaper into the now empty pail made the boy’s heart skip a beat. It might be a while before he was ready to do that.
Daddy returned to the changing table and undid the changing strap. As he began re-snapping Dakota’s onesie, a pensive look came across his face. Dakota could sense the man had an idea brewing.
“Wha?” the boy attempted to ask through his pacifier.
Daddy chuckled as he popped the last snap on Dakota’s onesie into place. “Nothing, I was just thinking….”
“Thinking what?” Dakota took the pacifier out of his mouth and sat up on the changing table, temporarily stepping out of Littlespace as he often did when Daddy wanted to discuss new things to try.
“I was thinking… that you might be ready.” Daddy looked Dakota in the eye penetratingly, as if trying to pre-gauge the boy’s reaction to what he was about to say.
Dakota returned Daddy’s quizzical look, obviously a little confused. Daddy wasn’t usually this cagey when suggesting new role play ideas.
“Ready for what?” he asked.
“bABy Island,” Daddy replied plainly, his gaze remaining fixed on Dakota to see if the name elicited any recognition. It didn’t.
“bABy Island?” Dakota looked even more confused than before. “Is that some kind of ABDL reality show or something?”
Daddy laughed. “Haha, no. But that’s not a bad idea. Wait here a second.”
Daddy left the nursery and returned a minute or so later holding what looked like some type of brochure.
“Take a look,” he said, tossing it on Dakota’s lap.
It took a while for Dakota to discern what exactly he was looking at as he unfolded the brochure. It appeared to be a stylized map of a small island, vaguely heart-shaped with various areas and features labeled. It was crisscrossed by a number of streets and roadways. The streets came together in a uniform grid pattern in the northeast lobe of the “heart” and along the western coast. The streets in each area were lined with small, numbered house icons, giving the impression they were neighborhoods of some kind. The area in the northeast lobe was labeled Marine Heights, and the area along the western coast was labeled Oceanview Village.
There were also gridded streets in the center of the island, which seemed to be some sort of downtown area. It contained a small park and town square, several buildings labeled as restaurants and cafes, and one labeled as the “Bambino Island Administrative Headquarters,” whatever that was supposed to mean. Directly outside the town square area were a couple more restaurants and cafes, a department store, a grocery store, a library, a gym, a fire station, and another rather large building labeled “Daycare and Play Center.” South of the downtown area, at the southern tip of the “heart,” there was a port. Or at least that’s what Dakota assumed based on the large boat icon it was labeled with. It was flanked by a car rental building to the west and an airstrip to the east.
The three developed areas seemed to be the main features of the island aside from an empty-looking area south of Marine Heights and east of downtown labeled “The Preserve.” There was also a similarly undeveloped area labeled “Farm District” directly east of Oceanview Village spanning the east half of the western lobe of the “heart.” But what really caught Dakota’s attention was not the map but the photographs that surrounded it.
In the corners near the neighborhood areas were photos of adult-sized nurseries much like the one Daddy had, complete with cribs, playpens, changing tables, and the customary childish wallpaper and other decor. It appeared that every house in both neighborhoods came with one; “Fully furnished for your little one!” read the caption beneath the Oceanview Village photos.
Then there were the photos of the babies. They weren’t real babies of course, but they hardly seemed aware of that fact. Near the park area in Marine Heights, there was a photo of a man about Dakota’s age outside in broad daylight dressed in nothing but a Sesame Street t-shirt and a very thick ABU Kiddos diaper. He wore a broad smile beneath his pacifier as he gleefully slid down an oversized playground slide, evidently not concerned about the prospect of onlookers seeing him in his baby garb. There were similar photos all over the map - men and women dressed in onesies, rompers, overalls, sunsuits, or often just their diapers playing in sandboxes, laying on picnic blankets on the beach, being pushed down the sidewalk in strollers, sitting on their caregiver’s laps on park benches. In the downtown area near one of the restaurants, there was a photo of a woman who looked to be in her mid-30s seated in an adult-sized version of those wooden high chairs restaurants often supply for babies and toddlers. Her diaper was clearly visible beneath the pink onesie she was wearing, and her daddy was smiling sweetly as he fed her a spoonful of applesauce from a small porcelain bowl. “Our restaurants serve people of all ages!” said the caption.
After studying the front of the brochure for a couple minutes, Dakota flipped it over. “Welcome to Bambino Island” it said in big, colorful letters. “A place where bABy boys and girls can feel at home and be themselves.” Dakota read on:
“Bambino Island, which lies about a hundred miles off the coast of the Mindanao Island in the Phillippines, was purchased in 2016 by entrepreneur and philanthropist Karina Hamilton. A lifelong ABDL, Karina long dreamed of creating a space for adult babies of all ages, shapes, and sizes to live out their fantasies without fear of unwanted exposure or judgment. Three years later, she finally realized that dream! Bambino Island, operational since 2019, features 300 cottages that can be rented out by guests on a nightly, weekly, or monthly basis. Each cottage has about 900 square feet of indoor space plus a small backyard. They come with a kitchen, a living room, a master bedroom, and a fully furnished nursery for your Little one. 100 of the cottages are located in the scenic Marine Heights neighborhood, which occupies the northeast corner of the island and offers picturesque views of the vast south Pacific! Oceanview Village, which straddles the island’s cozy and sheltered west coast, houses 200 cottages that also come with a miniature front patio. Each neighborhood has a park where your kiddo can play outside and meet other babies, and both are a short drive from the restaurants, stores, and daycare center in the island’s Town Center. Enter Bambino Island (also known affectionately to some as bABy Island) via the South Port, where you can rent an electric car, a car seat, and a stroller to transport you and your kiddo wherever you’d like to go at your convenience. We can’t wait to see you!”
Daddy watched Dakota closely as the boy pored over the map and infographics, curious to see how he might react. After a minute or two, Dakota finally lifted his gaze from the brochure..
“Is this real, or is this some kind of fantasy piece?” he asked.
“100% real,” Daddy replied with a grin.
“You’re shitting me,” Dakota responded.
Daddy laughed. “I tell no lies, I swear. I can call Karina up right now if you want to verify with her.”
“Wait…” surprise spread across Dakota’s face. “So you know the lady that started this whole thing?”
“I sure do!” Daddy beamed proudly. “We met back in my business world days and became close friends. I had no idea she was into the lifestyle until I stumbled across an article she wrote in one of my favorite fetish lifestyle magazines about being an ABDL and a businesswoman.
“Wow!” Dakota interjected.
“Right? What a coincidence!” Daddy replied. “She was open enough about it all to use her real name for the article, but I was still nervous as hell to bring it up to her. I found the courage to do it though, and that’s when she told me about her idea for the island. I thought she was joking at first, but she was dead serious. I told her to call me up if the opportunity ever presented itself, and she did. That’s how I became an investor.”
“Hold up, you own part of this island?” Dakota asked, bewildered.
“Well, it’s a share in the venture, not a physical part of the island. But yes, technically, I suppose.”
Dakota chuckled and shook his head amusedly as he took another look at the brochure. “I sure hope someday my degree pays off as much as yours did.”
The quip elicited another laugh from Daddy. “I caught a few lucky breaks,” he said with a wink.
“I suppose you did,” Dakota replied.
“So would you be interested?” Daddy inquired as Dakota continued studying the brochure
Dakota’s eyes shot upward. He looked confused, almost as if he wasn’t quite sure he’d heard Daddy right.
“You mean, like, in going to the island?” he asked timidly, a slight hint of red flashing across his face.
“Yeah!” Daddy replied enthusiastically. “I went a couple times with the little guy I had before you. It was fantastic. They do a spectacular job over there. I know you’re still a little new to all this, but I think you’d really enjoy it. I can see how much you’ve been enjoying your Littlespace lately. If you want to experience what it’s like to be a baby again, this is the best way to do it short of turning back time to when you were two.”
Dakota paused for a second to think through what he had just been offered. He looked down at the photo of the diapered man on the slide again. If he took Daddy up on his offer, would that be him?
The crimson that had been tinging Dakota’s cheeks deepened. He had to admit, he didn’t hate the thought. Being outside in the fresh air, diaper out for the world to see, throwing all care to the wind and fully immersing himself in Littlespace for a day, two days, a week, however long Daddy wanted to spend there…. It was tempting. He couldn’t deny it. But it was also intimidating. He’d never been in Littlespace for more than a day. What if he needed a break? How would he handle other people seeing him in baby mode? How would he find time to get all the way to the south Pacific? How could he possibly pay for all this?
As if he could read Dakota’s mind, Daddy cut in and interrupted the boy’s moment of contemplation.
“I’d pay for everything,” he assured. “I can easily afford the extra plane ticket, and as an investor I get to stay for free in lieu of dividends since most of the island’s profits get reinvested.”
Dakota nodded in response but kept his eyes fixed on the brochure, still mulling things over.
“And as always,” Daddy continued, “there’s no obligation to do anything you’re not comfortable with. We can keep the baby stuff private if you want. You can go back to being adult Dakota when you’re outside. Or if you just need to pause everything for a little while, that’s no trouble at all. There’s plenty of regular grown-up vacation stuff to do on the island.”
Dakota remained silent for a few more seconds as he considered Daddy’s assurances, then finally said something.
“Well, classes end in early May, and my internship doesn’t start until the middle of june, so there is a window where I could maybe….”
“May is actually a great time of year to be there!” Daddy interjected excitedly, relieved that Dakota appeared to be leaning toward saying yes. “Less rain compared to other times of year.”
“Will there be enough time for you to make travel arrangements?” Dakota asked. “May’s less than two months away.”
“Oh, that’s the easy part,” Daddy ensured. “And again, I realize this is a big step for you, so I can book travel insurance in case you change your mind. Honestly, I usually do that anyway.”
“Okay, cool!” Dakota said cheerfully, warming up to the idea more and more with each passing minute. “I feel like some baby time on a tropical island might be kinda nice after finals.”
“Ha!” Daddy laughed. “No doubt.”
- - -
And that’s how Dakota found himself where he was - sitting at the edge his bed, his duffle bag beside him packed and ready to go, with Daddy two stories below in the parking lot waiting to whisk him across the ocean to a suspended reality where he’d live as if he were a baby again for twenty-one whole days. The idea had seemed a lot less daunting a month and a half ago when Daddy first proposed it. But now that Dakota was on the precipice of going through with everything, the nerves were starting to mask some of the excitement.
But isn’t that how new things usually are - scary at first, but ultimately rewarding? That had typically been Dakota’s experience, and he had yet to regret pushing through nerves to chase new pleasures.
Life is short, youth is even shorter, Dakota thought to himself. Live it while you can.
He unlocked his phone and replied to Daddy’s text: No help needed with the bags. I packed light ;). Be down in a minute!
With that, Dakota popped to his feet, grabbed his luggage, and made his way out of his apartment door and toward the stairway. The butterflies were still with him. They might never leave. But he knew it would all be easier a day from now once he was safely on bAby Island with Daddy, back in diapers and once again free from adult concerns and responsibilities.
