🕑 Added 2022-10-24 00:17:24 +0000 UTCI feel like I've been working and working and not really getting much of anywhere. I've no idea how that works, but that seems to be where I am.
Anyway, so the primary bulk of my work as of late, I suppose, has been adding new animations for Isolda despite constantly saying "oh just one more, just one more"- every time I go to work on the 'one more' I think up a new idea or a way to improve on an old one, and I have to add in a little more. So she's going to have a fair few little details I didn't intend to add originally, for the better I hope. These additions have all basically been for her when she's standing up- I have to resist the urge to add in AV or anything else lest she *never* get finished up. Way more work than I ever intended to put into a "bonus" character.
I might, one day, return to the giant version of her; but for now, I'm more than content to keep it to the 'smaller' one, for now.
What else have I been working on? Well-
I am *hesitant* to show him off just yet because it's still super, super early, and I don't want to get hopes up too high. But, I kind of felt like I wanted to finally be in my own game, again. I think the last time I drew and animated my gryphon self was in like, 2014 or 2016, something like that?
Anyway, the gryphon is BY FAR one of my most complicated and impressive characters to date; designed from the ground up to allow me the fullest range of pseudo-3d stuff I've been enjoying doing as of late.
(This is just kind of a test animation, which is why I don't care too much about all the little imperfections and flaws)
Downside is, he's also REALLY complicated which makes working on him... well, complicated. So, while he's crazy impressive, if he ends up being too much work then I might just have to downgrade him to getting his own mini-animations on the side. I don't know yet, I need to mess with it more.
And then there's Sandoval, who I'm a rather big fan of myself despite no one really giving him too much attention. Admittedly I'm kind of lacking in ideas on making him unique or interesting, so I might just keep him simple- like a Good Ole' Days Barbftr character making their appearance. No idea, honestly.
And now you might ask, "Hey Alsnapz, those are all new projects; are you ever going to revisit some of the old characters? Like Juniper, or Ezmir?"
At this point, I'm trying my best to rediscover what I enjoy about animating; and that is, pushing boundaries, trying new things, exploring new concepts, etc. I do tend to move forwards more than finish things, and I think I just need to accept that at some point, rather than constantly stressing out over what people want and expect. It stresses me out, it ruins my drive to make *anything*, and at the end of the day this patreon isn't selling anything specific of making any promises. If hearing that your favorite thing from the past might not get any new updates makes you want to unsubscribe, I don't blame you in the slightest. As much as I would love to dedicate the time and effort to going back and fixing up old characters, I'm trying not to make any more promises I'm not going to keep from this point on.
To those who continue to support me despite all the setbacks, despite my sad brain frequently keeping me from getting things done, despite me working in a super outdated software, I salute and thank you so much. I wouldn't be able to keep working on fun stuff without y'all. <3
(oh also I've maybe been trying to learn 3d modeling and it's kind of going alright so that's cool too I guess)

Just going to throw this out there, you could just NOT resist the urge to add AV to the loog lol. I will support whatever you decide to do but a man can dream!

May your unfinished works live on as memories of the skills and talents you have developed and continue to develop. May they inspire you to finish those pieces that just keep you coming back for more, and may you ride that high of satisfaction for a completed work through to the completion of the next great adventure!

Great as always AL, watching you grow over the years has been an awesome experience.

Nah- I needed to make one for a project- so it's basically the opposite, the beginning of something new rather than the end of something else xD

Great to see some new details on your progress! Pulling off a convincing parallax effect on a 2D character is difficult, so I applaud you for what you've already achieved. Best of luck on the 3D venture as well! I've been passively 3D modeling as well and it's a very cool skill to have. Also, if you aren't already, get used to modeling in quads. Best to make good topology a habit early before you make bad habits and have to break 'em. lol
