That "phew" is interesting. I'm thinking Jacob was either doing (or about to do) something else when she walked in on him or (more likely) he just doesn't like social interaction, hence why he's holed up in his room with his computer. The "phew" may be him glad she isn't coming there to talk to him or try to get him to go downstairs.
