Saber is a beauty, the type that you don't get used to no matter how much exposure to her you receive. So having her come to me and suddenly declare herself as my personal maid is quite the dream really. The perverted type of dream.
The problem then comes from the fact that my mother is here! Couldn't she have done this in private!?
"Y-yes, this is a bit wrong, Saber..." My mother is nodding on my side.
Considering the whole situation with Meltryllis this must not even be the most embarrassing thing she has been forced to watch these past couple of days. Nonetheless, no mother should be subjected to watching a woman throw herself at her son.
Saber first points at Sakura. "Your objections are completely worthless. Know that the only reason I do not insult your character, is because a maid must be conscious of her master's family." If you said you wanted to insult her, is that still not a insult!?
A true king really was something amazing. I have much to learn/copy.
After shouting at my mother, Saber faces me. It's my turn to be killed. "And Hideaki... Take responsibility for what you have done!" Those words are terrifying.
I flinch. "Y-you make it sound like something that didn't happen, happened!"
"Do I now? All that I remember is you taking me to a room, and wanting to teach me new things..." She had basically made this joke already! Are repeats really allowed!? "It was enough to change my whole perspective really."
My mother covers her mouth in shock. "Saber, you..." She can't have taken Arthoria's words at face value, can she?
Because even if it's a embarrassing joke that totally ignores boundaries, and that I'm not really okay with the maid thing, it's at least pretty clear that this sex talk is just Saber joking around. I suppose my mother is just a really innocent person—
I am immediately proven wrong. "You're too old for Hideaki! Aren't you on your thirties?" My mother was teasing too.
Or she was just stating facts.
Artoria freezes in place. She didn't seem like the type who would care for insults about her age, but I suppose that to my eyes she also didn't seem like the type that would suddenly decide to become a maid.
"Sakura..." I can see the gears running through her head, trying to come up with a retort. "So, I have decided to become your maid, Hideaki. As I've said, your objections went unheard." She couldn't come up with something!
"Why though!?" I need to know that.
So far I have seen King Arthur, Artoria... as a dignified and powerful Servant. In some ways she reminds of Altera, but at the same time she feels a lot more malicious.
She called herself a dragon in a really chuuni way before, and I think that's a decent enough way to describe herself. If Altera is akin to a natural disaster that overwhelms everything in her sight, then Artoria is a dragon who burns everything that makes her mad.
Or at least that's how I was perceiving her.
"I..." On her face that is as pale as a porcelain door, to the point where she almost looks sickly, her blush is easily visible. "I simply enjoyed cleaning. As you have advised me, I found a hobby."
She clears her throat. "And so I have decided to become the supreme maid, the one who stands above all other maids, losing is for your father, not for kings." She really hated him, didn't she? "As such, I have come here to declare my servitude for you. Make no mistake however, my Servant contract still takes priority."
So basically just cleaning stuff around wasn't enough for her, she wants to role-play as a real deal maid. I almost respect it really, it takes a pretty big level of delusion to try and pull this off during the apocalypse.
It's also my fault, which is probably why she chose me to come with this... Since I was the one who introduced her to the absurd world of being a maid —I just let her clean some stuff, what the hell is happening— I should take responsibility.
Also, I want to keep seeing her skimpy outfit. In fact, I want to put my hands on her while she's wearing that.
But sadly I can't accept such a masterpiece, for the sake of social norms I must question it instead. "Okay, but why that outfit though!?"
"I found it in one of the apartments and it seemed fitting." In what world!? "And so, I took it as my rightful spoils of war." What war!?
The one that BB waged!? Because in that case, showing up after the fight against humanity is basically over should disqualify anyone from taking spoils of war!
"I... guess I just to accept it." I want to accept it. Really, I want to lick her body all over while she's wearing that.
Hah... I have fallen way too low recently.
But can someone even fall lower than lusting after a woman that looks like their mother? Especially when that woman also played a part in the apocalypse, and wanted to kill you? Yes, the existence of Meltryllis shows that Hideaki Emiya can be... a troublesome person.
"Good. I'll pass by your room later and do some quick cleaning." It wasn't exactly dirty though.
"Ha... haha... hahahahahaha!" As I my mother starts laughing, I feel like mt soul has left my body.
It started suddenly, silent at first, but eventually became incredibly loud. My mother was laughing like she had just heard the funniest joke to be ever be conceived by mankind.
I pout, hiding my embarrassment and my shame. Back when this whole mess had started, I had been... strangely free, but now with my parents around I don't want to go through events like these.
Saber however, seems to get genuinely angry. "This is not comedic, Sakura."
I suppose her attitude is expected of someone who just acquired a new hobby. Nobody liked having their interests laughed by, and that was especially the case for something you were new at. Your confidence wouldn't exactly be high, after all.
"Hahaha, hah... S-sorry, Saber, I just... Hahaha!" Even with Saber's warnings, mom just kept laughing.
A strange weight suddenly appeared on my stomach.
It only got worse as my mother's laughter quickly descended into silent sobbing.
I don't know what to do. I don't know what to say. My mind tells me that comforting her is the natural way to go about things, but I don't even know what the problem is. Just what drove my mother to tears...?
Saber sighs, disgust filling her face. "As weak as ever." He casual comment makes me insanely mad at her.
But I never actually act upon that anger, I simply don't have the time for it. Instead I hug my mother. Even if I don't understand what her problem is, a hug won't care about that. It's the type of universal affection that works on every human.
As my mother sobs into my arms, Saber silently leaves the room. I am left alone with a mess that I do not know how to solve.
But I have to at least try.
"I-It's gonna be okay, mom..." I meant to ask her what's wrong, but once I actually opened my mouth completely different words came out.
However, if nothing else that started a dialogue.
"W-why...? Why is this happening?" My mother made a very human question.
One that I hadn't really thought about. Not in the way she's asking at least. Sure, I had wondered what events had lead to this outcome that we were facing, but it was purely on a analytical perspective.
This was happening, simply because certain things had happened before, like a domino. There was no deeper reason.
I couldn't just say that to my own mother though. "I... this... sorry." So I just apologize.
In a way this is probably my fault. I've participated in the Holy Grail War, won, and somehow made an enemy of BB. And so, until I completely crush that A.I. I can only say sorry and hope that's enough. If she wants to hate me however...
That's completely fine too.
"Don't! Don't apologize...!" My words just made her even more distraught. "This is not your fault...!"
"..." If she won't accept that, then I really am lost.
Don't misunderstand me, it's not like I have grown hatred for myself or anything, but I'd like to at least take responsibility for what I have done. Not out of a desire to atone, but simply due to a desire to not run away.
Even so... I have to accept her words. It's not like I can argue back against my own mother when she's like this.
Some time passess in silence.
Eventually she recomposes herself. "I'm sorry for suddenly snapping like that, Hide. I... I don't know why, but seeing you and Saber just joking around like that made me feel like..."
"It's fine, you don't need to explain, and you don't need to apologize. Sometimes people just feel bad." That was just human nature.
It was... kind of sad.
"You're right." Mother quickly accepts my words. The reason for that is probably simple.
She doesn't want to talk about what just happened.
That aside, I am now faced with a conundrum. Obviously I have to stay at my mother's side, at least until my father returns. But I also kind of wanted to explore this place and see how the other Servants are faring.
So I quickly come up with a solution. "H-hey mom... D-do you want to walk around for a little bit?"
"Hm?"
"It's just that..." He had a feeling it would clear her head. "Um, maybe I could introduce you to Rider and Saber... I mean, Aria and Altera?" I don't even mention Meltryllis. "Well, you technically already know them, but—"
"I would love to, Hide." And that's all I need to hear.
Suddenly I feel a bit nervous though. I wonder if my mother will approve of them...

The first person I manage to find is Rider. Just as Artoria had told me, she's going around doing magic... stuff.
I don't really understand it of course. Frustratingly, there was an entire world invisible to me for most of my life. Thankfully, now that I know of it I can begin to think of how to deal with mages for my eventual conquest.
Which is especially important, seeing as most of the humans who survived the mud rain were mages.
I wave at the small servant. "Hey Aria." I almost feel bad for distracting her.
Clearly she was very focused on something, considering she hadn't even noticed me and mom getting close. She was just cutely humming some unknown song to herself while writing in a wall her nails of all things.
Thankfully, she doesn't seem angry at my interruption, considering she suddenly turns around and jumps at me like some sort of animal about to bite onto the neck of their soon to be dead prey.
"Handsome!" And she does all that with a smile on her face.
The strength of a Servant is an amazing thing, enough for me to fall backwards on my ass.
"Aah..!" This is not what I expected.
My mother covers her mouth, hiding her instinctive shock. "O-oh no! Are you okay, Hide!" But as I look deeper into her face, I see that she's actually hiding a smile.
It must be because Aria looks so much like a kid. Which means every mistake she commits is cute, instead of annoying. Especially when it's not my mother's ass that is now hurting from the impact with the cold hard ground!
Aria at least looks sorry. "Oops..." But then she quickly realizes she's on top of me, and starts smiling.
"Please just let me get up..."
"O-of course, Handsome!"
With much hesitation, the small Servant gets off me. She's not tall enough to help me get up, and mom is busy being charmed by a kid's innocence (which Aria doesn't actually have), so I'm forced to get up by myself.
Aria interlocks her hands. "S-so, what do you need, Handsome, mother?"
"Mother!?" My mom reacts as one would expect. "D-do I remind you of your mother...?" Actually she doesn't react as one would expect.
It seems Sakura Matou's mother instincts activated and now she's trying to adopt Aria. What she doesn't know is that Aria is actually a shark, and that mother has a completely different meaning.
Aria's face becomes pale. "You don't. Don't worry though, that's a compliment! I-I think..." Her origin is a mystery as always.
"Um...? Then what did you—"
"I want to marry your son." She drops that bomb with no hesitation.
I have to wonder where her sudden courage came from however. Because this is forward even for her. Maybe she feels threatened by Meltryllis being around? If that's the case she will become even worse with Saber and her new maid thing.
Not that Saber is looking for a husband, but I doubt Aria will see it that way.
My mother's face becomes completely red. "T-that's so cute...!" Her reaction is completely different for this, than to Saber's shenanigans.
Once again, Aria looking so young is working in her favor. If Saber does something to me, she will look like a cougar, if Aria does she looks like a young girl who is just now learning about love.
I pinch my nose. "Let's please move on..." This is too embarrassing for me.
I'm glad mom is cheering up, but I would like to survive this ordeal to see her smile afterwards.
I shake my hand. "We pretty much just came here to see you, Aria." I reply to her earlier question, hoping to set things on back on track. "So, what you're up too?" I already pretty much know, but once again this may allow me to escape.
"Hmmm..." Aria considers her options for a moment. "I'm just raising up some bounded fields to protect this place."
In the end she actually decides to comply. Judging by her face, I'm guessing she's content with my mother approving her, and me coming to see her. Content enough to spare my life.
"I don't really know what a bounded field is, if I'm being honest." Although I can kind of guess from the name.
Nonetheless, Aria tries her best to give a concise explanation. "It's an area full of magical effects, typically defensive ones. Your dad already had one up but... Well, I shouldn't speak ill of your family, but I tore it down."
I chuckle. "Those words are enough to make me guess that his bounded field sucked."
It doesn't surprise me. Shirou Emiya doesn't tend to be the talented type, instead he compensates with a lot of hard work. And considering he was ignoring magic... even if one day he had been skilled, he would be rusty now.
Aria looked away. "I-I'm certain he put a lot of care into it..." That only made things more depressing
"Senpai has always been bad at magecraft." Mother says a scary nickname with a depressing amount of pride.
What is there to be prideful about over being bad at something? Well, my mom has always been the type that thinks the world out of dad no matter what he does, so it doesn't surprise me that it applies to this as well.
Now that we are talking about magic though... "By the way Aria, could you teach me, magic or whatever?"
Aria raised an eyebrow. "For you Handsome? Anything. I don't know if we have enough time for that though..." That's right. The clock was ticking.
Mother didn't seem to approve of it either. "Yes, it takes time to learn magecraft, and... it's just not something nice to focus on, Hide."
Was magic really that bad? That even in the apocalypse mother didn't want me to learn of it?
Even if that's the case, it's not something I can ignore. "Aria, at least try to teach me the basics. Even if I fail, I'll still be happy I tried."
"Hide..." Mother is clearly against it, but this is something I can't ignore.
Aria tilts her head, and cutely puts a finger on her lips. "Your Aria doesn't mind helping, but it will hurt you know? And the Regalia you care can probably imitate a ton of magecraft anyways."
"All the more reason to learn." He looked at his ring. "It might help me comprehend this thing better."
Suddenly Aria began looking a lot more motivated, it had to be because she now actually saw a benefit to this. That actually made me a bit mad, it showed that she really wasn't expecting me to make any progress with magic on my own, which was understandable, but...
I would definitely be proving her wrong.
"Okay Handsome, I'll teach you everything I can." Her tail became completely straight, it was kind of cute. "First we have to awaken your Magic Circuits though. That's what mages use to actually do magecraft."
Mother interjected. "Is that even safe? Awakening them when he is already this old?"
Aria nodded. "It should be fine. Well, it will hurt a lot, but I can deal with that." Her smile became smug. "I'm an amazing Rider blessed with good looks, fighting skills, and even magecraft. How enchanting is that?" The first trait only applied to a a very special individual.
More important than that though, was this weird thing they were talking about. "Why would it hurt? Is this just... how it goes?" Pain was nothing though, so I don't care.
"It's because Magic Circuits are just another muscle... One you basically never used it in your life, so it's gonna hurt. If that makes you want to give up... You will always be the handsome man I care about no matter what!"
His eye twitched. "Just tell me how to use them already." Like hell he would give up.
"The method of awakening them is fairly simple. It's with self-hypnosis... You need a certain word, preferably of a different language, and to think of a certain image to trigger your flight or fight system. Naturally, this means you will have to come up with those." Sounds easy.
She continued. "It takes a few weeks... or months until someone actually succeeds at the process, but I'll make some special tools to help you succeed, Handsome."
"But I could do it right now in theory, right?"
"Y-yes...?" That's enough for me.
I close my eyes.
I have experienced a lot of shocking things these past few days, but there is one image that will never leave my mind. I'm pretty sure that even if I lost all my memories I would still remember it. It would become my starting point.
That image is a beautiful Altera, answering my call.

Dang this story too is really good. Honestly I think I just love your fate /Tsukihime fics I'm too scared to venture outside of the basics though of fate 0 and the three main routes there's so many characters and lore that it's hard to keep track but you manage to make it digestible and funny
