Fuyuki sighed. "No Senpai, it isn't. Like I said before, I have a girlfriend." He really was doing detective work!
It's just that he didn't have something convenient like a demon searching tool... Well, according to Satan, those did exist... sort of. A demon could learn how to see traces of the supernatural, and the same thing applied to angels. The problem was that Fuyuki was neither.
Which meant that he had to do this the old fashioned way.
Mai rolled her eyes. "You know, I've been thinking... How do I know this girlfriend is even real? You talk about her a lot, but it's not like I have seen her." Ah, she was accusing him of a classic crime, huh?
He shrugged. "Think whatever you want, but be aware that I spent all night sending lovey-dovey messages to her." He had learned Iroha liked emoji's like a lot. "Anyways, now that we have reached a new neighborhood, let's start with the testing."
She huffed. "Do as you will."
Fuyuki then proceed to walk up to a random stranger. "Hey, excuse me for sec!" It was a brown haired guy.
He smiled towards Fuyuki. "Um... hey! Do you need something?" He appeared to be around his age as well. Though that didn't matter right now.
Fuyuki nodded. "Yeah." He pointed at Mai. "Do you see a person there?" She wasn't dressed as a bunny girl, so even if he did see her, there would be no negative consequences.
He tilted his head, quite clearly confused. "N-no...? Is this a prank of some sort?" He recoiled into himself. Fuyuki felt like the poor boy was expecting to get punched.
He smiled. "It's not a prank... I'm just doing a social experiment. So, here's the next question, do you know Mai Sakurajima?" He should, since he was a high school boy.
That said, there were people who didn't know of course, even leaving her special circumstances aside. Which is why he would ask a few more people around the neighborhood after this guy.
He nodded, a sudden excitement in his voice. "Yeah! She's that actress who almost joined Hope's Peak Academy right!?" He scowled. "To think she would waste such a good opportunity..." The legendary Hope's Peak fan boy appears!?
Leaving that aside, he remembered her.
Fuyuki took a 1000 yen bill from his pocket. "Hey, here. I know it's not much, but I want you to have it." He was actually going to be using this bribe the boy.
"H-hum...? Is this money for participating in the... erm... social experiment?" He was clearly confused at the shortness of it.
What type of social experiment lasted two questions?
Fuyuki nodded. "Yep. But I want you to do something for me in exchange, nothing absurd though." People wouldn't do crazy things for a single 1000 yen bill. "I'm gonna give you my number, and I want you to call me up every single day from now on. Okay?" Not at school hours though!
His eyes widened. "S-sure...?" The boy was thinking just what this social experiment was. "Hey, you aren't hitting on me, are you?"
"Nope! I'll make it worth your time though, because by calling me you will enter a giveaway for more money... Oh, and messages are fine too. Just remember that I'll be asking a question and you have to answer." Though that question would never change.

In the end, the boy agree, gave his number and name, and left.
Fuyuki returned to his Senpai. "And so we have recruited Hajime Hinata to the cause! Now we just need to do this with four more people." Just in case he didn't message or call him like promised. Most people wouldn't after all.
Mai crossed her arms. "What is even the point of this, Mister Schizophrenic?"
"Please change my nickname to Mister Detective, I beg of you." He sighed. "Besides, isn't it obvious? I'm testing whether people will forget you even if they're constantly reminded of you. It also let's me keep track of the areas where you have been forgotten."
She pouted. "Okay, but why do we have to use my money? Stingy man."
He looked away. "You're a rich actress, I'm just a jobless high school boy, so give me a break. Besides, it's just a bunch of 1000 yen bills right? No big deal." Just a incetive so people would actually keep contacting him.
"Now let's keep going, once we finish this area I'll be satisfied." He was feeling confident. Perhaps he would even catch this dumbass demon or angel by tomorrow.
She raised an eyebrow. "I know I'm not part of the supernatural exactly, so I may be missing something, but what sort of progress have we made for you to be satisfied in the first place?"
He put a hand to his chin. "It's pretty simple. We discovered that there are three levels to your... curse."
First there were those who weren't cursed at all, they would both remember and see Mai. Then there were those who would ignore her existence, even if she did something that bothered them. Then there was those who ignored her existence, and then forgot about her as well, and even when someone showed a video of Mai Sakurajima, they would forget it again soon after.
In essence, it was like a evolving disease.
Which meant... "So we can completely ignore the areas where people still see you, and where people don't see you, and focus on the areas where you have been forgotten. Because the curse definitely started there." Those areas was where the curse had existed for the longest, after all.
She finally understood. "Ah, that's true. And assuming the curse spreads itself in equal speeds, we could also probably pinpoint more or less exactly where it started."
He grinned. "I see you finally get my genius! This way we can find that bastard super easily, and kick their ass!" Fuyuki was quite a bit scared of fighting a demon or a angel of course, but it was what it was.
She frowned. "You're assuming the power of our enemy is something that could only be applied in close contact." T-true. "For all we know that spot will simply be where the curse was started, and the enemy is some idiot living in Paris."
Fuyuki awkwardly chuckled. "I can't deny that, but this is our only clue for now... And to be honest, we have to be optimistic. Because if he really is some guy on the other side of the world, there is no way I can track him."
Her eye twitched. "So in that case, I'll just be forgotten?"
He hesitantly nodded. "Yeah. Sorry." Though maybe one day he would get some power to counter the guy. Who knows? "But at least I'll never forget you." Hopefully. For all he knew even he would be affected someday.
She blushed. "How romantic. Should I be impressed?" She was trying to be sarcastic, but it was clear that she was indeed charmed by it. What a weak actress.
Well, in her defense, this was a pretty shit situation. Since he was helping her, he was probably getting tons of prince charming points.
He smirked. "Yes, please be super impressed, Senpai. That way when you contact Kana Arima, she will see the admiration you hold for me, and quickly copy it." People like her could see stuff like that!
Mai rolled her eyes. "Ugh, you're such a perv... You know, if you didn't have this strange admiration for that brat, I would totally assume you were the one who actually cursed me."
"Huh?"
"After all, wouldn't this be a easy way to seduce your crush? Your curse her so she completely relies on you, and then you fake breaking the curse so that she falls head over heels for you." That... actually made a lot of sense.
Fuyuki looked away. "I don't actually have any way to defend myself, but please believe me when I say I didn't do it." He totally would if he had this power though! That sounded super fun!
She shrugged. "Don't worry, while I don't completely believe you, I have found a easy solution." Oh? "I will simply never ever fall in love with you. Even if you do become the last man in the planet."
He chuckled. "Fair enough Senpai, but as revenge, even after I save you, I won't fall for you either. Even if you come to me and Kana's bed begging for a threesome." It was now a pride thing!
"T-that would never happen! Even if I fell for someone, I wouldn't act in such a pathetic way." What a shame. "Anyways, I hope you survive having so many strangers with your cellphone number." Now that she said it...
"That's gonna suck..." Maybe he would change his number after this was over. "But it's a necessary sacrifice. Now let's go back to work, I want to finish this before night falls..."
"Um, why? Do you need to spend more time with your girlfriend?"
"Yes. We are gonna fuck hard."

Yumiko Miura felt like an idiot.
Entertainment? Staying here sucked because she had nothing to do? Who cared about that in the slightest...!?
She was dying. She was definitely dying. When thst bastard took their water bottle, he had said it was a heavy punishment because people died if they went three to five days without water. Without a doubt she was close to that limit.
Why had he not come back? Wasn't he supposed to give them new jobs or whatever!? H-had he abandoned them...? He had. And it was probably her own fault for being so aggressive... And now she was going to die a death where she couldn't even cry anymore.
She tried her best to get up. "U-ugh..." But her body felt weak, and her head hurt. It was due to the dehydration of course, but the lack of food wasn't helping either.
Funnily enough though, what actually bothered her the most outside of the dehydration was the itching feeling on her face. She had no way of removing her make-up, and now that it had stayed on her for so long it was starting to bother her.
Yukinoshita glared at her. "What are you doing...?" Somehow she looked even worse that Yumiko. Probably because not only had she been here for longer, but also because she wasn't sleeping well.
She had slept of course, eventually her body had just given in. It was a complicated thing however, and she constantly woke up...
Yumiko didn't bother responding. Their relationship had only gotten worse with time.
Yukino hated her, she lost the favorite spot because of the blonde. She lost the chance to get on Fujiwara's good graces because of the blonde. If if wasn't for Yumiko, this wouldn't be hell.
Yumiko hated her, because she was originally the favorite, even though she hadn't done anything special. If it had been her getting that treatment instead, she wouldn't have lost the post. Fujiwara would have kept coming back for her.
The high school girl started hitting the wall with all the strength she had... which wasn't much. "F-Fujiwara... come back... I'm sorry..." She felt like she was going to fall down. She felt too weak to even stand.
But she had to keep apologizing, or else she would die. "Please come back to me... please... Fuyuki..." Then she wouldn't die.
Right now, the thing that would make her the happiest would be seeing Fuyuki Fujiwara again. An unbreakable lioness? What a joke.
Lionesses needed water too.

Fuyuki summoned the door with a bright smile. "Hello everyone!" He was in a good mood.
The investigation with Mai had gone great, and he had just finished checking a map to see where the curse had started... which yielded interesting results. And that wasn't the only thing... Iroha had sent him a pretty funny cat video too! Life was great!
As soon as he entered the room, he saw what were basically two zombies on the floor.
"F-Fuyuki..." Yumiko was the first one who spoke, though that seemed like a great struggle even for someone as willful as her. Not a surprise, seeing as she was clearly on death's door.
The same thing applied to Yukinoshita of course, who didn't even have the strength to speak in the first place. If she didn't get any water in a couple of hours, she would probably die.
In essence, things were just fine. "Oh? We move to first name basis...? You guys are finally being sweet huh?" He shrugged. "It's a shame though. Now I have a new girlfriend..." It was true! Even if she was a brat.
Yumiko trembled. "No..." It was easy to guess what was going through her mind.
He walked over to her. "Oh, don't worry. You can always gain my love back... Here's a job for you one of you! Give me a passionate kiss and my heart might shake! Also, I'll give you water."
She stretched one of her hands towards him. "K-kiss..." But she didn't have the actual strength to get up.
Fuyuki giggled. "Ah, you look so cute like that..." He never thought Yumiko Miura would be begging him for a kiss like that.
"N-no... K-kiss me instead..." And it seemed the almost victory from Yumiko had renewed Yukino's strength. She began crawling towards the boy.
But she did not have the strength to reach him. Eventually she stopped.
Fuyuki opened the bag he was carrying, and picked up a water bottle from it. They hadn't fulfilled the job of course, but this would be even better. And so he knelt down, open the bottle, and put it on Yumiko's lips.
She was definitely surprised. "Huh...?" But she also didn't resist when he started making her drink it.
For her, it was almost like she could feel life force being returned to her body. She still felt awful of course, she would need to frequently drink water to return to normal, but at least she wasn't going to die anymore.
She gulped down the entire bottle. "Thank you...! Thank you...!" She wanted to cry, but she didn't have any tears. Thankfully that would change now.
Fuyuki pat her head. "No worries Yumiko, I just felt so awful seeing you like that... You are my favorite after all." He stole a glance at Yukino.
The girl looked like she had just lost everything.
Fuyuki started messing with his bad again. "Anyways, here's something." He took a cotton cloth from his bag, and a cleanser. After wetting the cloth, he began gently touching Yumiko's face.
"H-huh..." He was removing her make-up. "W-why...?"
He smiled. "It's been bothering you right?" He sighed. "I would be a pretty bad boyfriend if I didn't notice something like that..." He closed his eyes. "No, I have been a pretty bad boyfriend, haven't I?" One could even say he was the worst!
"Sorry Yumiko... I didn't mean it. I... It's wrong of me. B-but I just had to have you." He tried his best to look remorseful. "Because I love you. Because I just can't live without you. I would be helpless." He was lying of course.
He didn't feel bad or anything, and he certainly didn't need Yumiko to live. However, he had to start giving the carrot... and most importantly, he had to start looking like he desperately needed her. Because Yumiko Miura protected her pack.
Yumiko looked away. "But..." She didn't even know what to say... but her heart was speeding up.
The reasons for that was because she was being heavily manipulated by a psychopath who had caused all her troubles in the first place, of course. It was hard to think about that in a situation like this, however.
Fuyuki gave her a sad smile. "But nothing, I refuse to lose to Hayato." He decided to bring her crush into the equation.
Not only because she would start throwing blame at him for this, but also because maybe some of the love she felt for the most handsome boy in class would then pass onto Fuyuki. Besides... If Yumiko knew Hayato was in the competition, once she chose Fuyuki over him, there would be no coming back.
He finished removing her make-up. "There, do you feel better now, Yumiko?"
She gently nodded. "Uhum..." He was already seeing some color return to her face. Water really was an amazing thing...
Fuyuki grabbed his bag. "Okay then, rest a little." Now that he had dealt with one target, it was time to move on.
This time he walked over, and knelt next to Yukino.
The girl's eyes completely lacked hope. In fact, if her chest wasn't moving, he would have assumed she was dead. She didn't even try speaking to him to beg for water... Yukino Yukinoshita completely gave up on living.
So he took another water bottle, and did to her the same thing he had done with Yumiko. Much like the blonde, she downed the entire bottle without a single break.
Once it was over, just a little bit of hope had returned to her eyes. "Why...?" And with that hope came confusion. She had been abandoned right? Because she was the inferior girlfriend, right?
Fuyuki pat her head. "Because you're my special princess Yukino..." She shivered. "There's no way I could ever let you go, ever. It's why I brought you here in the first place after all. You were so amazing that I just had to have you."
Much like Yumiko, she wanted to cry. "I'm not special... I'm not the favorite..." As she talked, Fuyuki silently helped her sit up, supporting her back against the wall.
Then he hugged her. "Of course you're special..." He leaned over and began whispering on her ears. "You know, I could have picked anyone right? But I picked you, who's not even the heir to her family."
He ended the hug. "So don't worry, okay?" He began messing with his bag, and took a few pills from it. "In fact, please have this Yukino. It should help you."
She weakly grabbed it. "W-what is it...?" He could see a gentle blush on her face... She really was a weak woman. Well, he couldn't blame her when he was the monster tormenting her in the first place.
"Sleeping pills. You haven't been able to sleep well recently, right?" He had bought them with his Satan given credit card! Thankfully a prescription wasn't needed.
She nodded. "Yeah... Thank you Fuyuki..."
He got up. "Okay then! You guys are clearly beat, so I'm gonna leave for now." He took his bag and finally closes it. It was a shame, but in the end he didn't manage to find a present for them.
Fuyuki began walking towards the door, but before that...
"Wait..." Yumiko somehow managed to muster enough strength to get up, and began slowly walking towards him, using the wall as a support so she wouldn't fall.
Fuyuki raised an eyebrow. "Um? What does my cute Yumi—." She threw herself at him, wraping her arms around his neck.
At first he thought this was another murder attempt, but then... she began desperately kissing him. "Mmmm...Fuyuki...mmmph...!" It wasn't a kiss born out love. It most definitely wasn't.
But it was a start. "Please... don't take long to come back... please..." In the end, she chose to kiss him out of her own volition, even though there wasn't a need for it anymore. That had power, that would mess with her mind.
It was a total win. "You know I can't stay away from you for long, Yu–mi–ko." And the scowling Yukino on the background just made things even better!
His girlfriends were so cute!
