About OldSunset's timeline and consumer research for upcoming news
🕑 Added 2022-09-10 11:44:33 +0000 UTCGood morning people! I hope you're all right. I'm passing by to share some information about the future of OldSunset and answer some questions you might have about the history and timeline of the world.
OldSunset will take place just before Pleasantview and after OldTown.
Which means:
-Bella has not yet been abducted.
-Lothario and the Calientes, like Cassandra, are still teenagers
-The Pleasant twins and Eric are children
-Some characters who were deceased in Pleasantview are still alive
I stitched up the timeline the way I would have liked to see The Sims team doing in The Sims 4. It didn't take an alternate universe to make this possible, just fry my brains for a few hours. What was it worth hahah
This is just a small glimpse into the future of OldSunset. The starting world base in this story roadmap will feature 100 Sims. There will be Sunset Valley Sims as well (For them in this case, a few years will have passed)
Of these 100 Sims, approximately 56 will be dead. They will not be created just to fill in the family tree. They will have history, memories and be part of OldSunset's living history.
History in OldSunset is like an entity of its own. You will be able to see the ambassadors of the Goth family raising Cassandra's grandfather for example. Everything changes all the time.
Of course, just 52 Sims (which is more or less what will be left of all Sims) is not enough to populate a world like OldSunset. So you will be introduced to new complex and equally fascinating stories!
An example of this are characters like Marcela, Saffron and many more that were introduced to us but never made it to the game before the release of The Sims 3. You can count on them having parents, grandparents and in some cases... Possibly cousins.
This is the kind of complexity I expect from OldSunset. I know it might take some time, but I'm sure that time will make up for the wait, with a world that is completely alive, reactive and with the chaotic vibe of The Sims 2.
It is important to remember, that different from the inconsistency of The Sims 3, where for example the description says that certain Sims are surrounded by friends and when entering the network of relationships there is only 1... or in other cases it is a popular neighbor friend of the neighborhood that despite being "coherent" has several friends but doesn't know the personality of any, OldSunset will bring Sims who:
-They know each other
-React to each other positively or negatively
-It has unique personality traits, but also has reward traits to make it even more quirky!
Now, I would like to do some research with you. Creating all the Sims to make this world great will take some time, and I'd like to know what you expect from this process.
-Would you like me to share every month, the Sims that are being created through the SavedSims folder? So that you could get to know, experience and play with them while the whole complex web of personality, history and relationships is not developed?
-Or do you prefer to wait to stay on top of this process through several posts telling what's going on behind the scenes?
It is evident that there are still several lots to be built, but I want to leave space to create special lots for certain families, because the lot will be one of the ways I will use to tell the story, hanging custom frames, expanding the narrative through small puzzles and more.
And answering possible questions that may arise about lots: Yes, we will have diving areas. We will have stations for houseboats and we will have coastal lots. We will have tombs and mysteries (but a lot of that will need to come with the Sims so that they are tools used to tell the story of the world and not just superficial exploration).
Thank you for your time and I look forward to your response in the survey <3 Again, thank you all for your usual support. Skintone and eyes got an update a day after I shared it with you and the improvements are amazing! I recommend you download it again if you haven't already, because we've fixed a lot of details, making it more polished and beautiful than ever!
