So, a friend and neighbor of mine is one of the hillbilly cops in this movie. He's the deputy with the thick glasses that is taken out by the quills of the porcupine woman. I've done a film with him and while we were never on screen together, we talked a lot when doing publicity and I kept asking him about Nightbreed. I guess Barker was battling with the studio everyday for control of the film. Supposedly, my friend George's character had a much bigger role, but studios notes kept coming back to shorten the movie and George lost a lot of screentime. To make up for it, Barker said he could choose how his character dies and he asked to get stabbed in the eye as an homage to Battleship Potemptkin. He lives only about a mile away from me and I still talk to him.
