Loved the failed writer insert.

Samantha Lane

"Because that's exactly what they are *," Cass murmured in response, watching a countess pay 65,000 gold for a mirror that showed the viewer as they wished to appear rather than as they were. => insert: doing

Samantha Lane

Everything about * sounded expensive. => insert: it

Ace_the_owl

So sorry about that lol

Ace_the_owl

Thank you! Haha, I was kind of going with the Tarantino style of putting himself in his movies only to kill himself off in the most gruesome way like he did in Django Unchained.

Michael

Same here! I am really hoping John does not get destroyed from this - damage is one thing - wiping him out is another.

Josh Cothran

Obviously he identifies as an owl

Josh Cothran

My thoughts exactly

John Koor

Have we met this Artun guy in the past? It seems like we are expected to remember him based on interactions between him and Adom, but there seems to be no mention at least in the first part of the chapter.

Rick

'"You want to destroy us?" he shouted, raising the device. "Let's see how your guild functions without its new leader!"' I'm intensely curious: if the disruptor damages only artifacts, how is it supposed to dispose of the "leader"--not the golem, not the com crystal (which is hidden), not the multiplier, but the leader! I'm on pins and needles to find out how this is going to work!

Rick

Love the chapter! I certainly got caught up in it. However, when I had a chance to think about it, I have two quibbles: First, how is it that whatever magical screening used for weapons failed to identify the disruptor (and you can't tell me that the cutthroat merchants and nobles would lack such screening). Second, since Deroq smuggled the disruptor into the auction house, he must have intended to use it--i.e, premeditation is clear. He didn't just reach the breaking point: he was prepared for confrontation. (Just sayin'.)

BenjiVoid

Does the disrupter affect the golem? I assume it's not a powerful enough variant for that. It would disrupt the communicator to adom though? But if not the golem then he can at least see and hear right? If not talk back. Also, he could teleport the golem out and back in with a new communicator. Also, they have a sound dampening enchantment, but it must be manually controlled right? Her saying the numbers for the bids needs to be heard through it.

Daniel

I don't know, if he says he is an owl, I trust him. He would know best.

Will Iam

Thanks for the chapter. The ending feels a bit abrupt, i understand that is the point but attacking them there is foolhardy

K

Love this arc. Has gentleman bastards vibes.

Jacob Oswalt

Man why the self burn? Yer books are good. Like this arc is fucking fire.

Morten Bork

That cliffhanger was cruel. Good. But cruel :)

Alexander Belousov

"The guy wasn't even an owl". I loved it. Excellent self-insert. :)

Michael Olson
