Wonderfully good!

R. Maxwell Steele

I thought he would kill the spider by teaching it magic that fried it's brain and take the healing fluid to replace the special water he needs. Then use the healing fluid and the white Wyrm heart to make his cure.

R. Maxwell Steele

Here I had the opposite thought process. Why didn't he put the egg in his inventory and get out with a prize. Now he has no idea what the spider did with it and loses another invaluable treasure. Which maybe running through valuable treasures is going to be his thing? Ah didn't see that story flower already said the same thing.

Still, the falling egg has no purpose. Why not put it in the inventory, the spider would have known? It could be connected to all kind of other story lines, the cure perhaps? It never says, it seems, that the carp is the dungeon boss.

This is mostly my fault as I probably did not make it clear enough, but, when the spider tried to get into his mind, he saw its intent, too. The spider eats things, takes skills or properties unique to them, and evolves from it. Which is why it is such an outlier among other monsters in the dungoen. It just needed to understand how the magic worked before eating Adom as well and he knew it. The egg was to lure it, and kill it before it killed him. I'll edit the chapter and make that much clearer, thanks for the feedback!

I have winged over getting stuck I. Another dungeon. But dam this was a good fight, clever.

FrozenFingers

I did not like that chapter at all. Why destroy the egg, why even take it. Use it as a distraction to escape I can understand but for that it did not need to be taken or destroyed.

Obran

I thought he made it out of the dungeon when he killed the final carp boss. Isn’t that why he saw his remaining time for the cure quest? After having spent weeks with the spider, time hadn’t moved forward on the quest due date.

Gopard

Thanks for the chapter! So now Adom just needs to find a way out of the dungeon and not reveal everything of all the crazy shit he got up to lmao! And of course master alchemy to a degree only masters millenia ago last managed to heal a sickness with currently a 100% death rate in the world but that's more of a small side Quest for him I'm sure^^

So for all my complaining I liked this fight a lot actually... What with you bringing in the Egg as a new variable telling us the distance to the Egg (3 kilometers also FITS with giving Adom just barely the few seconds to escape into the air with its before demonstrated speed of several dozen meters per second (obviously yes I did do this calculation after the last chapters lol) I was trying to judge just how outmatched Adom was since this was obviously coming down to a fight)... Also the water and Carp was a nice way to make the fight realistic because well... No matter what I really didn't see with all tricks and secret spells how he could win against the Spider alone. I was actually expecting something about his indomitable Will coming into play with the lake. Basically he wouldn't "beat an impossibly strong monster" but "survive the impossible addiction with his Willpower" but this works out as well.

> He'd need it if _that_ scenario came into play. Just a small pet peve of mine, I hate this type of hinting with a passion. Either say what it is or say "he might need it later". > No need for complex water spells here. I think you say something along these lines a couple too many times. Also, why was his plan to balance the fight and kill the winner? It seems to make way more sense to get the carp to win and escape again. Trade the spider for another enemy, but one that can't chase. I do really enjoy this story, I'm paying for a reason. I don't want to just sound negative. I'm excited for how this turns out, especially the main line stuff.

Hey everyone - took some time to read through all your comments and feedback. You've made some really good points that hit differently when I look back at the chapters as a reader rather than a writer. It's funny how you get so caught up in writing that you miss things that become super obvious later. Gopard - seriously, thank you for that detailed breakdown. Really helped put some things in perspective. For anyone wondering, please don't worry, I'm not changing the core story to please everyone (that'd probably make it worse), but when someone makes good points about the narrative, it'd be stupid not to listen. Was planning to drop all the remaining chapters at once, but going to polish them up a bit first based on what you all pointed out. The illness arc and its ending deserve that extra attention. The goal is to get ahead of RR by 20 chapters in about three days - so I'll be posting 1-2 chapters daily until Archmage tier hits that 20-chapter buffer. After that, for every 100 new subscribers, I'm planning to bump it up by 5 more chapters. Hoping to eventually reach 40-50 chapters ahead, step by step. For Book 2, definitely keeping all these feedbacks in mind from the start. Hope you enjoyed this chapter - working on making sure the ending lands right for both you and me. Yeah, the book's done, but there's always room to make it better, especially when readers point out solid ways to improve it.
