Time to get eaten and restart the loop. I guess he would made the Spider's day by offering tasty Mage Flesh.

Eldar Zecore

Completely forgot and haven’t heard about Ave Xia Rem Y in the longest time, once I’m caught up here I’m going to go binge that story. Thanks man!

Ace_the_owl

Those are some solid titles, I especially like William Oh

Richard Davis

Just considering ones that are not yet complete .. and are actively updating: - William Oh - Bog Standard Isekai - Ave Xia Rem Y - Butcher of Gadhobra + Tunnel Rat (ok, two stories, but same author+world) I also quite enjoy Orichimama. But it so rarely updates.

Thank you Blauefeder. Hopefully, this'll be satisfying.

What's your other 4?

But he WON'T get a "third chance" Death was quite clear when he met her... "Live your life again as full and good as you can and when your times comes we shall meet again for me to take you like everyone else..." he gets one retry and nothing else. At least thats how I understood everything so far. I do agree these seemingly random bouts of huge action do seem kind of forced. However they were at least so far always explained with in story logic. Could it have been done better? Sure! But was it actually really bad so far? I don't think so, while the circumstances of the labyrinth are suspect if the Author decides Adom alone won't be able to handle the magnitude of desasters coming thats a good plot device actually. This dungeon Arc honestly would be amazing if it didn't come so (relatively) close to the long labyrinth one... transportation crystal gone wrong... Its something every single character in the story knew about and was concerned about. The odds were also so far at least NOT impossible I would say except perhaps once with the "race against the Golem"... That scene went over a bit the board with the "demoralizing thoughts" before the race itself was actually solved in a pretty straightforward manner. Anyway I do not think him dying again would be good for this story... This wouldn't benefit from ANOTHER timeloop, its so strong because while Adom HAS future knowledge its really only in limited parts usable for human interaction beyond his obvious Magic prowess ofc!

Patryk Rys

Counterargument: I feel like him "dying" there would actually be REALLY good for the story. You know—too much on his plate, too many screw-ups, too many things he doesn’t understand, etc. And then—boom—somehow, he’s back at the beginning. He doesn’t know why, God doesn’t know why, but now we essentially have a loop where he’s facing impossible odds. However, this time, he has a better chance because he’s not relying on those unrealistic, convenient coincidences that might otherwise pull the reader out of the story. If you establish impossible stakes, a more realistic approach would be him dying rather than surviving through ridiculously lucky encounters. This way, the challenges remain brutal, but he has a sort of "backup"—the ability to die and restart. In my opinion, that would make for a stronger story. But I understand that author maybe doesn't want to go this way if this was not planned as "loop", its just one of the solutions for these impossible odds.

Drowning/not-drowning scene: cool. I found the tussle between Helios, Gale, and the golem slightly hard to follow. Whom did the golem punch? Whom did Adom order the golem to kill? Were Gale and Helios both caught up and transported with the golem -- seemed that way. I do think your text probably specifies all that, but in a casual read I found myself getting mixed up between the actions/positions of Helios and Gale. The self-destruct mechanism: yes, cool. Did the golem somehow absorb the self-destructing energy and transfer into its last punch..? Like a number of other commenters, I found myself frustrated to find Adom put into a dungeon ... again. He just got out of one. I didn't find it 'super unlikely' though. Makes some sense with the 4 Leaf Clover altering the luck. Oh, I also liked the ambience of the obsidian dunes against the dark lake. And the addictive nature of the lake seemed (in an effective way) classical fairy-tale-esque. And the monotony and care with which Adom had to address the stabilization of his rest was an effective bit of realism. I did enjoy the read. This story is one of the top five (out of all of RoyalRoad..) that I look forward to reading.

BlaueFeder

Don't worry, I will keep on reading. Just because I didn't like one chapter, doesn't mean the story is ruined. There are always better and worse chapters in a story, I just hope you take our tips in consideration for future chapters :)

Storyflower

Over the top. You set yourself up for a lot of future inconsistencies.

Ace_the_owl

I am about to upload the last chapter for this arc, but I think there might be a misunderstanding here. I'd just want to say - this isn't actually a power-up arc. It's meant to wrap up the illness storyline. All that alchemy stuff he learned, the book he got his hands on - there's a reason for it. I thought this would be a more interesting way to close things out than the obvious route. And hey, he's way too weak to beat that boss right now. There are other solutions besides fighting. I get it can be frustrating when a story seems to be going in a direction you're not feeling, but I hope once you see how this plays out, it'll make sense to most folks.

Patryk Rys

Yes I know its "not lucky" because "its painfull" or hard on him etc. But it doesn't really feel that way, it feels like another powertrip arc. When he woke up in the water - that was amazing. I felt it, the atmosphere, the fight for breath etc. But I hoped that he is just somewhere really far away, and it will be hard to go back/survive on open water, not that he will jump directly to some dungeon and he will need to defeat some boss, AGAIN.

Patryk Rys

Eh, nah, at this point, it's not a "coincidence." He keeps ending up in these places after "fucking up," then somehow gets "stronger," and it's all just part of the big plan. I'm not sure why you put it there—sometimes it feels like two different people are writing this novel. Some parts are genuinely great (for example, the city stuff with the young mage and most of the school-related content—I couldn’t find anything wrong with that). But then suddenly, it's like, "WE GOTTA GO BACK TO BASICS! DUNGEON! PLOT ARMOR! IMPOSSIBLE COINCIDENCES! THAT'S THE WAY TO GO!" Besides, he's already strong—all he has to do is remember/re-learn things from his previous life and get a bit more mana. That's it. He was already powerful, right? There's no need for these artificial power boosts; they serve almost no purpose and just break immersion. It just feels too lucky, too artificial—it throws the reader off and makes it hard to maintain suspension of disbelief when things seem so forced. Why do that to yourself and your own story, bro?

Putrick

I don't really like him being stuck in a dungeon again. This repeated loss of agency and control seems incredibly forced this time around. Especially since it invalidates so much of the prior plot build up to get his ingredients. Hopefully you'll find a good reason as to why this has to happen otherwise it would be quite disappointing.

james belz

Was there some kind of mix up that had later chapters out ahead of the correct ones

Gopard

Oh no hope everything will sort itself out! Family always comes first of course!

Gopard

Thanks for the chapter! So I wonder how you will solve this realistically while also leaving both enough time for him to solve his illness trouble (though in the worst case with his father and BOB and enough money he msx be able to get those 2 things still quickly) And most importantly we know in 3 days his Mother will arrive, considering the urgency with which he send for his dad he also won't be far behind and by evening the Academy will be searching for him at the latest! So the true question is how will he survive in a way (Because well in this kind of story it is obviously impossible for the MC to just randomly die so early lol) that doesn't also force him to reveal his impossible secret to everyone summerly getting him executed for insanity...

John Koor

Ok, I'm confused. At what point did he swap places with the golem, and where did the golem end up? There seemed to be a lot of interchangeable text last chapter with his point of view being both him and the golem. And talking about his hands without indicating if it was actually his or the golem's. And if he didn't swap places, how did he break his arm when it should have been the golem's?

Beside this chapter was juicy

Simon Hoerder

Thanks for the chapter!

Ace_the_owl

Thank you Mark! Yes, it's all good now, thankfully.

Mark

We understand, life happens sometimes. Hope everyone's OK!

Ace_the_owl

Sorry about the late chapter, I had an unexpected family emergency and had to take care of it urgently. Everything's fine now, thankfully. Finishing the chapters. I hope this one was enjoyable, and as always, feedback is more than welcome :)
