Very interesting to see a mental disorder being included and blended together in a historical/ political fiction like this. I never expected this, such a wonderful writing plus an indirect social commentary. People thought that mental illnesses are exclusive to the modern day, saying that our ancestors are stronger and that the younger generation are weak, when those people back then most probably just didn't get diagnosed. Of course modern lifestyle may also influence the prevalence of mental illness but it's not like they're non existent or even rare in the past. It's better cause I've literally just learnt about this in my class recently lol. Ume cooking as always.
