Working for Trevor was implemented in ver. 017 alpha and more scenes will be available in the final ver. 017 release this month. In ver. 016 the scenes were not implemented so you can not "Work for Trevor".

so does trevor just never give you work? I've been told to come back in a few days for weeks now. It seems like it is one big loop, I've progressed through on the story lines as far as I seemingly can for each character.

Trevor path (work) is in progress and most likely is going to be updated in this month release. Also there is going to be implemented a hint system that will help you with the tasks in the next release.

Enjoyed the game up until it reached this point where it's like you have to just randomly roam and roam and roam to find one encounter that's not even related to progress the storyline further
