Hollie heard him move and turned to look at him with a frown. “Why does it hurt worse now than last night?”
Seth chuckled and said: “All the perks of losing your virginity. Sorry about that.”
“Let’s fly out. If I have to take one more step, I think I’ll beat you up.”
After Seth destroyed the bed again, they took flight. After a while, Hollie looked at him and asked: “Besides destruction, space, and lust, what other sources do you have?”
“Creation, time and perception. Creation was the one I used to create the bed. Time allows me to stop time in a small space. As for perception, it allows me to see if other people have a favorable or negative opinion about something or someone. At least for now. That’s another source I have no clue where it would take me.”
Hollie kept asking him questions about air energy and other stuff about his sources as they flew with barely any stops for one more week. During their stop, to Seth’s surprise, Hollie asked if they could have sex again, saying that despite the pain, she slept well after it.
Seth had no reason to decline and a repeat of the last time happened. After around a month and a half since they left the capital of the Oath kingdom, an equally large city appeared in their sights.
For the first three weeks, they would have sex about once a week, but during the last three, Hollie would occasionally ask for more.
They passed the border without issue once Hollie increased their altitude, and no one was even aware of their presence.
After landing in a nearby forest, Seth turned toward Hollie and said: “Thank you for taking me here.”
Hollie raised an eyebrow and asked: “Don’t you want me to wait for you?”
“No, I already told you I just needed a lift. Getting them out will be a lot easier on my own and if your presence gets spotted in the Wrath Kingdom, Iris might look for trouble with you.”, replied Seth while looking at the immense walls of the capital.
Hollie nodded and said: “Alright. I’ll see you back in the capital. Take care.”
“You too. Thanks again.”, replied Seth and Hollie flew straight back right away. Looking at her disappearing back, Seth muttered: “You could have at least given me a goodbye kiss or something…”
Once she was out of sight, Seth’s body started to change slowly. His hair turned purple-black and his eyes pure dark red. His build became a lot more muscular, and he chose some clothes traditional to the Wrath Kingdom’s nobles before heading towards the city gate.
The guards moved to stop him, but Seth just threw them a gold coin and didn’t even look at them as he stepped inside. With his noble features and expensive-looking clothes, the guards didn’t dare question him and let him pass.
Working with the system, a map of the entire city quickly appeared in his vision. The structure differed slightly from the Oath capital, with it only being split into two parts. The king’s castle was in the far north, at the base of a small mountain range, and the rest of the city was just a mess of both residential areas and commercial ones.
Not willing to spend too much time inside the city, he headed for a residential building around the center of the city.
After finding the decently sized house he was looking for, he walked up to the front door and knocked on it.
A middle-aged man appeared at the door wearing only a pair of trousers. His face looked quite tired, as he had just woken up, and he looked Seth up and down before asking: “What do you want?”
Seth had a serious expression as he said: “Prison guard, Tito Borjon, I came here to investigate some concerns about abusive treatment of the prisoners in your care.” He finished his righteous words with a wink at the man.
Tito sighed and moved to the side to let Seth in. Once Seth was inside the house, he closed the door and asked: “Which bastard complained now and how much do I have to pay for it to go away? I’ll show him what…”
Before he could finish his words, his head left his shoulders and his dead body fell to the floor with a thud. Seth sent one more wave of destruction and wiped all the traces of the body before changing his appearance again and grabbing a uniform that was lying on a nearby couch.
“Well, you didn’t exactly deserve to die, but I needed you to. You could at least brag about getting killed by a god in the afterlife.”
Out of the guards at the prison, Tito was one of the decent ones, even if he still had a habit of torturing the prisoners as well.
He chose Tito as his disguise because he had no immediate family and was in charge of supervising the sector where the Valdez family was being held. His other choice had a wife, so Seth didn’t feel like dealing with the trouble.
He waited inside the house, looking over as much information as he could before walking out around noon, heading straight to the prison. He looked through some more information about the prison on the way there as well.
“Tito, weird of you to be here on time.” said another guard at the prison door toward Seth.
“Shut up and let me in, Hamza. I’m not in the mood to listen to your bullshit.”, Seth replied using a prompt generated by the system based on previous interactions between the two.
The guard laughed and opened the door to let him in.
Seth walked in, saying nothing else, and scrunched his nose right after. Even at the door, it smelt of human sweat and fecal matter, the smell so powerful that almost made him throw up. The prison had six floors and all of them were underground. He was quite happy the Valdez family was locked on the second floor, since he didn’t even want to imagine the smell on the deeper ones.
‘No wonder all the guards are like that. I would also be quite angry if I had to work in here every other day…’
Once he reached the floor he was in charge of, he spoke a few words to the guard on that floor before watching him leave. Seth did his rounds as normal, feeding the prisoners and bringing them water.
A few hours after the night shift started, and he put out over half of the candles lighting up the place, Seth slowly made his way towards the one cell shared by the head of the Valdez family with his wife.
They placed all three of their cells next to each other. One of them had the head and his wife. The one to its right had the head’s brother and his wife, while the one to its left had two young men.
All of them were dressed in tattered rags, and he knew between those rags, their bodies were covered in bruises and whip marks. Whenever the guards got bored, they would torture the prisoners to pass the time.
Hearing footsteps drawing near, the family head of the Valdez moved his wife behind him and looked at Seth with a look full of hatred.
‘Monitor the other prisoners and let me know if anyone looks this way or notices anything. We can’t let the royals figure out the plan before we’re gone.”
<Host should enter the cell and mock abuse them. It was common practice for the previous guards and none of the prisoners dared to watch when that happened in fear they would be next.>
Seth smiled before teleporting a note inside the cell, straight in the family head’s hand, before opening the door. After the rattle of the keys was over, the system informed him only one prisoner was watching the show.
The family head grabbed the note and frowned, but before he could make sense of everything, Seth grabbed him by the neck and pushed him deeper inside the cell.
After the man’s back was against the wall and Seth’s face was covered by his own shadow under the flickering candles, he changed into his usual face and started punching the wall behind him hard while bringing his mouth close to the man’s ear.
“My name is Seth and I’m a friend of your daughter, Pearl. Over the next few days, I’m going to be bringing you food and water, so make sure you recover your strength. In one week, I’m going to bring you all out of the prison.”
“How do I know you’re telling the truth?” asked the head with a frown. His time in prison taught him that if something seems too good to be true, it usually was.
“You have no choice. It’s that or you are all dead come winter. Your execution date has been set.”
As his words ended, Seth cut his palm and smeared blood on the man before dropping some food from his storage into a corner of the cell and walking out. He dropped some food in the other cells as well before returning to sit in his chair.
After returning to his place, he noticed two marked prisoners on his interface. With a sigh, he waved his hand and closed his eyes. He seeped some destruction energy inside their bodies to lay dormant. He was going to activate it if the system told him they intended to talk to anyone about the incident.
The Valdez family shared the news and started munching on the food Seth had left them. They didn’t know if he wanted to help them or if they were simply pigs prepared for slaughter, but as Seth said, what choice did they have?
At noon the next day, his change of shift arrived to replace him. After some casual talk, Seth passed him a note and left. The note was a fake order to feed the Valdez family properly and stop beating them to prepare for their execution.
He was sure that note was enough since he even faked the king’s seal. Returning to his house, or better said, Tito’s house, he changed his appearance again and visited a local brothel. Using one worker there, he broke through to the third shell of his lust source before returning home and doing the same with the other sources as well, since they were all full after the journey here.
<Host, perception source shows signs of instability. You need to gather more negative perception energy.>
“I know.” Replied Seth with a smile before waving his hand and creating two portals.
Chuckling to himself, he threw a chair in the air and snapped his fingers. The chair froze in the air without moving.
“Hehe, finally I can use time and space properly. Going past the two first shells is always a pain.”
Closing the portals and letting time around him flow again, an iron sword slowly started appearing in his hand. Seth knew the sword was quite crude since he couldn’t replicate the forging process, but it was still quite good.
“And my money stealing is also no longer necessary.” Muttered Seth before destroying the sword and creating a small gold coin.
“I’ll wait to experiment with the lust and perception sources when I return to Oath.”
For the next week, Seth spent his shifts feeding the Vasquez family while in his free time, he started doing his vigilante charade again to gain some negative perception. He also made sure the empty a large amount of the kingdom’s coffers to delay their alliance and attack on Oath.
Since he didn’t need to steal their gold anymore, being able to create it quickly, he just destroyed it and replaced it with painted iron. This will give him some time until it was discovered and would also make a lot more chaos when it did.
His deeds over the last few days have created quite the commotion, but no one had any idea who was behind all the sudden murders happening inside the city. On the last day before the escape, he also stole a few horses, one for each of the Valdez family members and himself, before using a portal to take them outside the city walls.
Today was the day of the escape, and Seth returned to the prison as usual. After taking the shift from his fellow guard, he waited a couple of hours and, at around midnight, he quietly knocked all the other prisoners out before adding some dormant destruction energy inside their bodies again.
After arriving in front of Valdez’s cells, he opened the doors and looked at their condition. Their wounds have mostly healed and there was also a trace of newfound hope in their eyes.
“How are you all? Ready to get out?”
Seeing everyone nod, he wasted no time and made a portal. When he saw them hesitating, he lost his patience and said: “If you don’t go in, I’ll leave you all here to die.”
The family head nodded and walked into the portal first. The others followed one by one, with Seth going last and closing the portal behind him. This portal used two-thirds of his energy and only led to Tito’s house.
He quickly threw some cloaks he had prepared beforehand to them before they all walked towards the entrance of the city.
“Where are we going?” asked one of them.
“The Oath Kingdom. That’s where Pearl is. We’ll talk after getting out of the city.”
“At least my plan worked.”, muttered the clan head, making Seth’s eyebrow twitch slightly, but it was not the time to tell him what happened.
Seth stumbled upon a few guards on the way and had no choice but to kill them all and wipe all traces using destruction energy. He couldn’t risk alerting the city too soon. He could leave with no issue, but it would be a pain to carry an entire family with him.
When he reached the gate, he killed the guards there as well before heading towards the place where he left the horses. Each of the Valdez understood the horses were for them and wasted no time in cutting the ropes and mounting a horse each. Even the two women seemed incredibly agile while doing that, obviously having received their fair share of training.
“Truly a knight family…”
Once everyone was mounted, Seth took the remaining one, and they started traveling east, towards the border with the Oath kingdom.
