I love this movie so much. It's so cozy and comforting and well made. I love the atmosphere, that it takes it's time and lets scenes breathe. I also love that all of the music and sounds were from the environment, and it didn't have a score. I think movies with minimal music can sometimes build amazing suspense, like old Spielberg movies and this. So glad you reacted to it. Love your channel.
Of Butterflies and Books
If I were forced to choose my favorite movie from Hitchcock's catalog, as in I could only watch one for the rest of my life, this would be my favorite. I would say this, Psycho, and Rebecca are in my top 3 of his films. Obviously, there are movies prior to this one that would also fall into this category, but it just feels like the early touchstones of what we now refer to when we talk about a domestic/psychological thriller.
