Custom Models have been added!
🕑 Added 2021-12-30 11:54:55 +0000 UTCProbably sooner than most expected, myself included, Custom Models through Model Engine have been added!
This means you are now able to create your own custom models or use ones you find online to spice up the looks of your custom bosses!
As always, the setup on the EliteMobs side of things is as simple as I could make it; all you have to do is set the field customModel: modelName and that will immediately apply it to your mob. The custom animations are handled by Model Engine and EliteMobs in the background, and the visuals are displayed using resource packs.
The latest snapshot build of EliteMobs comes with a preview for the resource pack with a default custom model for the test boss, which will display its model if the model is installed on the server.
Some further work will be done to add an import process so models can be packaged with lairs/minidungeons/adventures, and some fine tweaking may be done to improve various aspects of the animations and displays, but as of right now the system seems fully functional.
I trust that I have surprised most people with how quickly that got added.
We are still aiming to try to release chapter 0 of the Primis tutorial adventure before the end of the month, the builds are all pretty much done and we are now adding bosses and quests. This will initially be available to $15 patrons, and once chapter 1 releases chapter 0 will released to the $10 tier, and so on.
Alright, that's all for now. Expect a new poll to vote for the direction again on January 1st!
Happy adventuring
