Global events are finally here!
🕑 Added 2021-08-09 03:35:58 +0000 UTCFor a long time it has been an ambition of mine to come up with a solid system to make global events.
By this I mean events that when they start affect the whole world they happen in, in a way that is not just announced but felt by the players, that changes the way players play for a little while.
The Dead Moon event was an attempt at this, but it was a weak one. This was due to limitations related to how EliteMobs worked years ago when I first created that event.
With the release of EliteMobs 7.3.5-SNAPSHOT-11, these limitations are a thing of the past!
Thanks to the new GLOBAL type of custom reinforcements, bosses can now spawn reinforcements not only around themselves but around players everywhere on the world for as long as the boss is alive.
This can be used to do a lot of interesting things, and the revamped Dead Moon event shows one of the possibilities!
The fight now spawns The Living Dead around the world, and unlike previously these Living Dead will chase players down across great distances to try to get to them until either dawn breaks or the Zombie King is slain.
I am really satisfied with the feel of the new encounter, and I have quite a few more tricks planned using this new extremely powerful tool for creating events.
You'll be able to see more on tomorrow's stream!
Happy adventuring!
