EliteMobs 7.3 Roadmap
🕑 Added 2021-02-05 10:11:28 +0000 UTCHello everyone!
I have been putting off addressing the fact that we might have reached the $600/mo goal for a little while now simply because the goal tracker seems convince that this is not the case; I have contacted Patreon support to see what's going on with that but at this stage I am simply going to call it - EliteMobs has reached a goal that I honestly did not expect it would ever reach! Thank you to all EliteMobs supporters, this has really allowed me to work much harder on this plugin!
As such, and in the spirit of treating as a more professional project, I have decided to make a few changes to how I develop and publish updates.
For those of you who have been around for a while, you might be painfully aware of how bad my public release schedules are.
To fix this, I will be restricting the scope of updates to core sets of features that are more realistic and will be publishing public version much more regularly. I believe that releasing minor versions once a month would be good; twice a month would be ideal but as of right now that is not something I can currently commit to.
To this end, I have created the roadmap you see above. There are quite a few things I want to elaborate, especially considering how this represents a major departure from how I have been releasing updates.
1) The roadmap only shows the broad strokes of what will be contained in the updates and is not a detailed list.
2) The public releases will gradually build up to the main feature instead of releasing with it already fully developed after months of dev builds (i.e., the arena mechanic will be developed throughout 7.3 until it is done).
3) I am changing the way I do versioning to be able to send quick critical fixes directly to the public builds without having to release the full dev build.
Now that that is out of the way, let us talk about this month's roadmap.
Looking at what is on the plate for this month, I think everyone is probably as excited as I am for them finally getting worked on.
The Soulbind removal feature for player has easily been one of the most requested features for EliteMobs.
The item scrapping and upgrade system will add a lot of depth and several very interesting options for player progression.
Additionally, a significant amount of development effort will be dedicated to working on The Oasis Adventure, a new category of minidungeons! This means that the update will also come with several new powers, mechanics, and custom enchantments!
As of right now, it is hard to tell if The Oasis will be fully finished for this month, and as such I am simply calling this month’s release v1.0. Much like with other minidungeons, it will probably be revisited in the future to improve with new mechanics, but we hope to provide an experience that already feels complete this month. Please be patient while we work on it, as it is 3-4 times larger than any other minidungeon I have published so far, and we are looking to really make it stand out. It is possible that development will spill into March.
This is it for now. Let me know what you think about all these changes and upcoming features, and if I should keep releasing roadmaps like these! If there is enough feedback for them, I will try to keep releasing them every month.
Happy adventuring!
