I dislike publishing my personal life online but I feel like I need to justify where I've been for the past month.
First of all, I got a surgery! My nose is now fixed and I can actually breathe through it. Neat!
Secondly, I finished the third semester of my Master's degree - this means that, aside from two days in January, I will no longer have classes. This is actually great news for my plugin development! It'll free up an incredibly significant amount of time. Obviously it'll have to be shared with my job and writing my Master's degree thesis, but it is still a huge improvement!
Thirdly, I've been working on a fresh combat system and a world boss system. I'd hoped that they'd be published by now, but it just couldn't be done due to the first two points. I will be trying to rush development as much as possible this week, even though neither feature is easy to do. I believe that the combat system is stable, and that a first iteration of the world bosses will be live for testers before the New Year.
The new combat system implements the most requested combat change for elitemobs - static damage values. The damage that weapons can deal is now fixed, which will make for more satisfying overall gear progression and for fairer arena fights in the very close future.
The new world boss system will allows admins to set a location in the server where a world boss will spawn. I initially got stuck working on this rather elaborate feature because I tried to add too many things to it. To correct that, I'll be releasing a much simpler initial version. For a start, it'll simply be a location which consistently spawns a custom boss, and respawns on a delay when it dies. These bosses are meant to be taken on by groups of players, and the intent is to have them consistently drop interesting / powerful loot, providing players with a way to consistently gather certain custom items. This can be a very interesting tool for distributing powerful pickaxes, shovels, axes or even some crazy armor or weapons. They can also be used to create memorable locations in your server - I certainly plan to build tiny boss rooms to house these bosses!
Additionally, with 1.15, I plan to bring my SSM project back from the land of the dead. Expect to hear more about that soon!
