Frequently Given Feedback #1: Referencing/Studying The Low End

Starting off a new series here where I provide some detailed advice that I find myself giving to a lot of producers (including you all for demo feedback). I wanted to start with a little low-end referencing masterclass as low-end is one of the biggest pain points for all producers, and a lot of my tips going forward often will have me using SPAN + the referencing techniques in this video to demonstrate my points.
I mention it in the video but this exercise helped me immensely years ago in better understanding what makes a track 'work' in the club...I can't recommend it enough especially when you're listening environment just isn't very accurate.

1. Yeah I tend to stick between around 40-55hz but I'm very partial to deep meaty kicks. I know plenty of producers that go way higher, especially for more old school housey or minimal genres. no hard rules though! 2. I have no idea why those are blue haha you can ignore that
This is super useful, looks set to be a really insightful series! I still feel I have a lot to learn about the anatomy of a kick, so this goes towards helping me understand them more. Two questions from me: 1) Do you have a frequency range you tend to stick to for kicks? Your kick drum pack you shared on Patreon covers E to G#, same as another pack I purchased recently so wondered if there were general rules on this? 2) Are the blue boxes on the scale note chart relevant to anything in particular? Magic frequencies perhaps...?! An analysis of Alex O'Rion's 'Avalanche' would be appreciated, a lot going on in the low end of that one so will try and inspect that one myself too! Thanks again!
