Studio Feed: Starting from Scratch #6 Pt. 3

For the first 25 minutes I experiment with some different ideas and land on a pretty nasty synth riff that's almost acting as a B-section or one-time moment for the song. I then start adding some different drum parts to enhance that section.
This is a cool example of how your drop can be something totally different if you'r e just going for maximal club impact. And it gives the arp a break so that when it comes back, the whole song is suddenly driving and (potentially) even higher energy than before, because it's also more of a dance-y groove.
Around 45:00 I experiment with adding another synth element to hype up the drop even more, but overtime it becomes much more of a background element. I realize I'm overcrowding the drop when the idea is better suited to be very minimal + one crazy sound.
There's a good example of using reverb towards the end of the video. When the arp comes back in the drop, I get rid of the high octave part from the nasty synth and just isolate that lower downbeat hit. I then push it back pretty far with reverb, so that it's still pushing the groove like it was earlier, but without getting in the way.

Really nice to see how the track has evolved and see how it can pretty much go anywhere once you have an initial idea!
