Title: Guy Like Me?
….
Pamela looked James over as he had put on a very modest suit and made himself look like the victim. Even she felt a little wronged at why the guy was called to go to congress. She knew that James wasn't someone who did everything by the book, but the man truly was generous and a workaholic. Even she couldn't figure out how the hell he was able to do so much work in a day.
"Do I look charming and like a victim?" He turned around asking her.
She just shrugged. "I would smash you."
James frowned jokingly. "I am not asking if you would smash me for money."
Pamela smiled. "Well, what can I say? I have a way with words. But yes, you do look good. Wish we could change that face to be something more than barely above average, but it's generally workable."
He raised a questioning eyebrow at that. "You know, sometimes I wonder if you like me…"
"I like your money." She answered instantly, without missing a beat.
"Well, that is something I have." He countered as he fixed his hair.
As Pamela saw him do that, she smiled sweetly and body-slammed him on the ground, wrinkling his clothes and ruining his hair.
James though didn't seem worried at all as Pamela got close to almost kissing him.
"You really are a high maintenance girl." He said, ruining the romantic mood that Pamela was trying to raise.
"Damn," the woman swore before she got off him and offered her hand to help him get up, "If only my Hormone Medicine worked on you, then I wouldn't have to try so hard."
"C'mon now dear Pamela, you are saying your plans out loud." He criticized her jokingly, "You just lost 100 relationship points with me."
Pamela pouted at that and went to mess up his hair even more. As she went for that, James just grabbed a hold of her breasts, trying to stop the woman from the shock of what he just did, but she wasn't bothered and still went to mess up his hair.
"By the way, James, if you ever fire me, I will sue you for sexual harassment." She said before getting up and turning away, ready to put on her dress since she was technically his number two and Dr.Freeze wouldn't care for anything other than researching medicine for his wife.
"You think I would ever fire you? That would be a hazard that I wouldn't be able to handle. Just the things that you know could put this company down." He smirked confidently, which confused Pamela since it seemed like he knew something that she didn't. He then turned around and looked at her smiling. "If I ever plan to let you go, I will just put a bullet between your eyes."
Pamela's shuddered for a split second, wondering if he would do that. But then looking at James' face, he barely seemed to be holding back his laughter. "Hahaha, sorry, I just couldn't help myself. The look on your face, bahahaha!"
This annoyed her even more and she went to mess up his hair once more as James was trying to put it back in place. As she did so, James had one comment on the situation. "You have some nice breasts, Pamela."
He then squeezed her breasts. She would be the first to admit that her relationship with James was quite… strange to say the least. He always seemed just so… strange. It felt like whatever went on in the world around him, he didn't seem to mind. Sometimes he made jokes that she didn't know if they were the truth.
But at the end of the day, Pamela was happy here, happier than she had ever been before.
"Has Bruce Wayne contacted you yet?" He asked, finally being able to get his hair in place and he picked up some documents.
"Nope," Pamela answered without missing a beat, "I still don't know why you had me tell him that at the party. The man is a dimwitted playboy who was born on money. Plus by me saying that it made you seem suspicious as hell."
James smirked at that, but he still had a thoughtful look on his face. "Sometimes it's best to have people look directly at you and try to find something wrong, other than go snooping around."
She was confused at first because even she didn't know what James was trying to hide. But then it dawned on her, she wasn't known as a genius for nothing, so Pamela figured it out uite fast. "So what you are trying to hide isn't any of your backhanded dealings, but me instead. I am the thing you are hiding. No, more correctly… you are trying to hide my action... you are trying to hide that I killed my father."
He didn't answer but only looked at her calmly. That was enough for Pamela to make her conclusions.
"Well, I don't need you to protect me! I made that choice, not you, so don't go throwing everything that you have built down the drain just because of me." Her voice was a little heated on the exchange because she knew deep down that she didn't want James to ruin everything he worked so hard for just because of her.
But by the look on James' face, she knew that he wouldn't be that easy to convince.
"You have made your choices Pamela, and so will I make mine," James stated, leaving no room for discussion. He silently dismissed Pamela, but she wasn't going to let something like this go, so she got close to him and picked him by his collar.
"I don't give a damn about your choices. I know you aren't stupid, so don't do something stupid. Be the cold, pragmatic man that works on logic. That is what I expect of you, I can take care of myself." Pamela was insistent on this, while she would never admit it, she looked up to a man like James. He was always confident and rarely was he wrong. So having all of that be destroyed because of her… it left a weird feeling in her chest that didn't feel nice.
James on the other hand sighed. "You just don't get it, Pamela. You are someone who is way more important to me than a company. I can rebuild this again, but if I lose you I can never have you back again."
This caused Pamela to turn around and walk out without saying anything. James on the other hand looked at the door she walked out of and then turned back to looking at himself in the mirror. "Well, that could have gone better."
He really did mean it though, Pamela and Doctor Frost were the two people who were indisposable to him. Their knowledge and abilities could help him build the wealth all over again if he wanted.
…
On the other hand, Pamela, as soon as she walked outside of the door, she let all of her feelings out and her heart felt like it would burst out of her chest by how fast it was beating.
"Fuck!" She swore in annoyance, none of the employees dared get in her way as she had an enraged look on her face.
She went to the women's bathroom and closed the door in annoyance. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a hint of a flushed face as she tried to calm herself down. "Damn it… saying things like that… what the hell James! You know I have feelings too and saying things like that will make them…" she stopped what she was about to say, "Damn it!!"
As Pamela thought of her boss, she could feel her heartbeat increase. "Damn it… this is the worst, falling for a guy like him."
