My first thought on the second house is that it's a shop or other kind of out-building. I've seen a few of them in my time.

I believe the "????" in the bonus room is the reflection off of the mirror doors on the far right hand side of the picture - reflecting a portion of the room. (I bet if you stand in the right place you can get that cool 'infinity' effect - the only fun part about trying on clothes in a department store dressing room.)
