Chapter 64: Anna
🕑 Added 2021-06-30 13:18:32 +0000 UTCThey finally arrived at Star city
This city has a giant outer wall. It was almost 50 meters tall, and it encircled the entire city
Building such a large wall even in the modern age would be a very hard and long-term task. Technically, it should be impossible to build it in the middle-ages.
However, although this world is in the middle ages, it’s a magic world.
As the main city of the Starland Kingdom, Star City naturally possesses a very large number of magicians.
It’s not surprising to build such a large wall.
At the gate, there were seven or eight soldiers in black iron armor protecting the gate strictly.
The arrival of the two dragons, Shillong and Arman just caused them to take a glance.
In Star city, there aren’t only humans. It can be considered as an international city
There are humans, dwarves, elves, gnomes, and naturally Dragonborn.
However, Dragonborn is still a rare race, and most of the ones that enter Star city are the righteous Dragonborn.
However, the scales covering Shillong were black, indicating that he was a black dragon Dragonborn, that is the descendent of the black dragon race from the five-color evil dragon race. Such a Dragonborn usually belongs to the evil camp.
Therefore, one of the guard captains looked at the two young dragons with a look of warning and said.
"Black Dragonborn! And this elf! The Starland Kingdom welcomes the arrival of any race, but the premise is that they must abide by the discipline and rules here! If you dare to disrupt the order of the city, the Starland Kingdom will not let you go! Remember this!"
Of course, this was said mainly to Shillong. Arman, who had the appearance of an elf, would be welcomed no matter where he went.
"Of course! I will definitely abide by the rules." Shillong briskly replied.
After a quick inspection, the guards allowed the two dragons inside.
At this time, the sky was very dark, but the city was very bright. Inside and outside Star city looked like two different worlds.
There are many street lights on both sides of the road.
The streets are full of pedestrians, and roadside stalls.
The whole city is full of sounds and life. It looked very peaceful.
This is very different from what Shillong had imagined. He thought that the Starland Kingdom should lean towards the level of the European Middle Ages, but he didn't expect it to be so prosperous.
In his inherited memory, there are not many countries with advanced magic technology, most of them are at the medieval level. At least, there is no technological empire capable of making that airship that he couldn’t break after dozens of strikes in his inherited memory.
Maybe it has been recorded by some other dragon and passed it on, but his clan definitely has never seen it.
Not all ancestors are the same. The memories passed down are also different. Each generation can add or remove certain memories before passing them on to the next generation. This is how the dragon clan accumulates wisdom and keeps up with the times.
Arman was also dazzled by the sight in front of him. He stared blankly for a while.
The arrival of the two dragons didn’t attract the attention of too many pedestrians on the street, but there will always be some people with ulterior motives that notice newcomers. In this case, the two dragons.
A blond beauty with a prominent figure and a beautiful appearance noticed the two dragons. She was wearing leather armor and looked about 20 years old. Standing at the entrance of an alley, she carefully examined Arman and Shillong.
A moment later, she walked towards the two of them with a smile on her face.
"Did the two little brothers come from outside?"
She asked in a very gentle and kind tone, like a patient older sister.
"Yeah! Hello, little sister!" Arman replied with a smile.
He is 40 this year, and the woman in front of him looks no more than 20 years old.
"Little sister...?"
The woman was taken aback. Only after noticing Arman’s pointed long ears did she realize. Just now, she only looked at the outfits of the two of them, and almost forgot that the elves are a long-lived species. Although the elf in front of her looked only 14 years old, he must be at least 30 or 40 years old.
"This elf brother, and this little Dragonborn brother. Seeing as it’s your first time here, do the two of you need a guide? How about I take you around?" the blond beauty gently said.
"We are here to find Andre!" Arman confidently said.
"Andre? Sorry! There are too many people in Star City with this name, and I don’t know the person you are looking for. Let’s go shopping first! You can ask the Sheriff tomorrow about the Andre you’re looking for."
"Andre! Andre Claudius! Don't you know him? That bastard told me that he is very famous now! The entire Starland Kingdom knows about him!" Arman angrily said.
"...Sorry, I don't know your friend Andre." The woman apologized.
’This shameless bastard! Sure enough, he’s not reliable! Shillong shouldn't work with him and give him so much money!’
Arman cursed internally.
"We are here to find the Soderberg Chamber of Commerce," Shillong said after thinking for a moment.
"Soderberg Chamber of Commerce!"
The woman exclaimed. She looked up and down the two dragons, then finally glanced at the two dragons' clothes and fingers.
It seems that she made a certain determination.
She smiled and said,
"Of course I know the Soderberg Chamber of Commerce! But their address is on the west side of the city. We’re now on the east side of the city. The distance you need to cross is too big. Even if you take a carriage now, it will take more than half a day. Instead of wasting so much time, why not go shopping with me first, your sister will invite you to eat delicious food!"
”Eat?! Something delicious?!"
Arman's eyes lit up. He immediately nodded and said,
"Okay! Then please lead the way! Little sister!"
Anna, "……"
"Please call me by my name! My name is Anna. You can’t keep calling me little sister, it’s so strange! The two of you are too young after all!"
Anna laughed and said.
"Well then! Anna! Take me to eat delicious food! I don't know how your human food tastes." Arman said.
Shillong did not try to stop Arman's request. Since someone invited them, why refuse? They can save so much money!
’Damn it! Why do I care more and more about these foreign things?’
The two dragons followed Anna for a while before entering a "mercenary tavern".
The area inside is not particularly large, only about 70 or 80 square meters.
Among the seven or eight tables, only three or four were sparsely filled.
The people who sat there were mostly strong and burly men. They were wearing leather armor and carrying various weapons. Judging from the name displayed outside the tavern, these people should be mercenaries.
Mercenaries are a group of high-income, high-danger people. They are the kind of people that lick blood on the tip of their blades.
Most of them will go to the mercenary union to pick up tasks or go to the nearby wilderness to hunt for supplies.
Because they are making money with their lives, their annual income is at least more than three or four times higher than ordinary people.
Ordinary people’s annual income is 3 to 4 gold coins, and even the most trashy mercenary can make at least 10 gold coins a year.
Most of the food on their table is grilled meat and a barrel of beer. The food is very generous.
Everyone paused slightly after seeing Anna taking Shillong and Arman in, then continued drinking and bragging nonchalantly.
Anna smiled and said to the two young dragons,
"It's here, two little brothers, this place might look shabby, but the chef here is definitely a master. The meat that he cooks is the favorite of the mercenaries nearby! Moreover, as long as someone tastes the wine here, no one will say that it tastes bad!"
"Then give us the food!" Arman said anxiously.
"I'll let you taste it right away. Go and sit down first. I'll order the wine and a few dishes then come over right away!" Anna said with a grin.
"Okay! Anna, thank you! You really are a good person!" Arman happily said.
"Haha! It's all because of our destiny! When I saw the two little brothers, I felt like we’re kindred spirits! After eating this meal, we will be friends!" Anna had a particularly amiable smile on her face.
