-----------------------------
“Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!”
For a while, many ships exploded in that space area. These spaceships did not expect that they would be attacked suddenly, by their companions and comrades no less.
Therefore, they couldn’t activate their energy shield in time.
In an instant, four to five thousand ships exploded in the chaotic formation. More than a million soldiers and crew were killed.
At this time, the ships that were planning to move deeper into the fleet didn't dare to move easily anymore. They could only stay on the edge of the fleet.
In the deep void, Fang Yun coldly stared at the scene below. Both he and the giant turtle hid in the deep space relying on the giant turtle’s ability. Hence he clearly saw the previous scene.
A trace of joy surged in his heart.
"Heh, it seems that internal problems have begun to appear in their fleet."
Fang Yun had a smile on his face. He knew that reinforcements were coming. If he wants to destroy and eat this fleet, he has to act as soon as possible, and internal discord is a perfect opportunity.
However, he didn’t directly appear and attack the fleet. If he does so now, it’s likely to cause the fleet to unify again.
He needs to let the dissatisfaction and discord continue to ferment. After the seeds of hatred and discord have grown, it will be time to harvest them.
The fleets of the two heavens continued to move around this starfield. The team’s formation is still neat, but a more subtle emotion was hidden beneath this tranquillity.
Especially the ships on the periphery of the fleet. The soldiers and crew inside are seething with anger and dissatisfaction. Hua Rong is treating them as cannon fodder and he has no intention of covering it up.
No one wants to be cannon fodder for other people, especially if said people don’t care about their lives and can even ruthlessly kill them.
The same guys that have benefited from their sacrifice didn’t hesitate to attack and kill them on the orders of the commander-in-chief, Hua Rong.
Hua Rong hopes to maintain the discipline of the team. He doesn’t care about anything else, whoever is sacrificed or dead doesn’t matter to him. The team leaders and captains inside the fleet also don’t want to go to the edge.
Therefore, Hua Rong and these people immediately hit it off. They didn't want the ships outside to take their positions, hence they used force to make them obedient.
Due to the difference in number and authority, the spaceships on the edge of the fleet didn’t dare to cause trouble. At least not on the surface.
However, it’s undoubted that the spaceships and teams on the edge felt uncomfortable and angry, so they started secretly contacting each other.
"Carmen, Commander Hua Rong gave up on all of us."
Somewhere in the fleet, inside an inconspicuous battleship. A burly man said to a cold man on the holographic projection. The burly man is the captain of this battleship and he is currently talking with the captain of another battleship, his friend.
The relationship between the two is quite close. That’s why he dared to complain about the decision of the higher-ups.
"Huh, old Mo, we have no choice."
Carmen smiled bitterly,
"This is the decision of Commander Hua Rong, what can we do?"
"So we can only obediently act as cannon fodder? Can you accept this?!"
After a moment of silence, Mo Yun clenched his fist and shouted with an agitated look on his face.
"Carmen, you don't want that either, right?"
He squinted, "Maybe next time, our spaceship will be destroyed with the attack of the great serpent. At that time, no one will remember or mourn for us!"
“Why did I join the army and struggle so long for?! For status! Power and Money! Now, they want me to give up on everything that I struggled for and obediently act as cannon fodder for them?!!”
After hearing Mo Yun's almost hysterical shout, Carmen was also silent. After a while, he took a long breath and said.
"So what?"
After speaking, he also smiled bitterly, "Mo Yun, don't think too much, what else can we do?"
"Rather than thinking about the impossible, it's better to pray. Pray that the giant serpent doesn’t target us in the next attack."
"This..." Mo Yun clenched his fist tightly, his face turning red with anger, but he could only sigh in the end, powerless to change anything.
There is no more to say.
Carmen’s previous exhortation was because he hoped his friend would not go astray because of momentary anger. After all, the ideas of his friend are too bold.
However, deep in his heart, a similar bold idea emerged. Carmen’s idea was to leave the fleet and leave this dangerous place.
Anyway, he is unwilling to follow the fleet to continue struggling with the giant serpent. He has no hope for this battle anymore. It’s just that he didn’t find a suitable opportunity.
Conversations like this were arbitrarily unfolding around the periphery of the fleet. Even Hua Rong and the others at the center of the fleet felt the subtle change.
It’s just that they don’t take this kind of thing to heart. In their view, it’s justified to sacrifice some people for the well-being of the entire fleet. Besides, these people enjoy great status and well-fare every day, it’s time for them to pay back.
"Commander Hua Rong?"
In the command ship of the fifth heaven, a holographic projection popped up in front of Hua Rong. It was Byrne. He anxiously said.
"Commander Hua Rong, there’s a problem with the fleet. If this continues, I am afraid that large-scale riots will appear."
Such situations aren’t impossible in a large fleet, but they are very rare and most riots are small-scale ones.
"Keep going."
The expression on Hua Rong's face was particularly firm. He said with an indisputable tone.
"On such occasions, we must display tough means. If you find someone causing chaos, you must not be soft-hearted."
"...I understand"
After hesitating for a moment, Byrne nodded, but he still said, "Commander Hua Rong, what if there is a large-scale riot?"
Hearing this, Hua Rong’s expression changed slightly, then smiled bitterly.
"Then we can only bear it honestly. Now we have few choices."
"Try to encourage everyone. Our reinforcements are coming soon. As long as the reinforcements arrive, the giant serpent will definitely have nowhere to hide."
Byrne nodded, then closed the communication channel.
Between various teams and spaceships, encouraging words sounded again, which actually improved a lot of people's spirits.
Of course, the people who were encouraged are basically from the center of the formation. The people in the periphery are still full of fear, terrified that the great serpent will suddenly appear and eat them.
One day has passed. This time, nothing happened, but most people were still very tense. Facing the thought that they might die at any time, they couldn’t relax at all.
"They’re still holding on."
In a void, Fang Yun looked down at the fleet that was still orderly and he couldn't help but praise. This time, he was planning to act.
However, he isn’t going to directly attack the fleet. On their way forward, there is a planet twice the size of Jupiter.
It's just that this planet is still some distance away from the fleet. Fang Yun is planning to detonate that planet using "Space Collapse", releasing the energy of a super-planet explosion towards the fleet.
The planet explosion will have a certain impact on the fleet, but the impact won’t be that great. However, he plans to scare them and further disturb their mentality.
Soon, the fleet reached the vicinity of that planet. Fang Yun directly detonated the planet, releasing enormous energy that swept the fleet.
The nearest several hundred spaceships were directly destroyed. This sudden attack caused the fleet to panic.
The attention of the fleet was drawn to the planetary explosion.
Suddenly, Fang Yun launched an attack on the other side of the fleet.
He collapsed the space on the edge of the fleet, then used “Black Hole” to devour hundreds of spaceships.
In addition, he quickly used the "Gamma-Ray Burst" to destroy thousands of spaceships, reducing them into dust and debris.
After that, Fang Yun dashed away and left. This process was so fast that while the fleets’ attention was attracted by the planetary explosion, he completed it in less than 10 seconds, then instantly escaped.
The fleet was heavily affected by this attack.
This time, because Fang Yun chose to attack from a relatively remote location, his “Gamma-Ray Burst” didn’t do as much damage as usual.
The same goes for the fleet. At such a remote distance, their laser beams couldn't do much damage. Even if they could injure him slightly, it’s not a problem with his regeneration ability.
So in this way, he could attack the fleet recklessly but such an attack is a bit inefficient, especially when their energy barriers aren’t activated. Trading powerful blows is very cost-effective for Fang Yun after all.
However, this kind of harassment also made the peripheral ships feel annoyed, especially Fang Yun's occasional close-range attacks, which made them angry and fearful.
Sometimes, Fang Yun detonates planets along the way. As for stars, Fang Yun doesn’t dare touch them for now as he is likely to be affected by the supernovae.
Under Fang Yun’s continuous attacks, the peripheral ships have begun to feel restless. The giant serpent’s attacks are more powerful and frantic than ever.
After only half a day, tens of thousands of ships were either destroyed or swallowed by Fang Yun. This caused the spaceships in the periphery to sink into even further panic.
"Damn, I can't stand it anymore!"
In the periphery of the fleet, inside an inconspicuous ship, Mo Yun has a fierce look. There was a holographic projection in front of him, it was that of his friend Carmen.
Carmen's face is also unsightly. Not long ago, during the last attack, his spaceship was almost destroyed by the great serpent.
Even if it wasn’t destroyed, it was heavily affected by that attack, resulting in damage to the ship's hull, and causing its operational attacks, speed, and flexibility to decline.
The most important thing is that their energy shield can no longer be used, which is simply fatal.
In space, it’s a very scary thing for a spaceship’s energy shield to stop working. This means that they can no longer conduct long-range activities in space.
To enter the hyperspace, the energy shield is a critical component, because it’s necessary to protect the spaceship from space fluctuations and unexpected accidents.
Wandering in space for a long time without an energy shield is almost like suicide.
"Carmen, how is your spaceship, is it okay?"
After complaining, Mo Yun thought of his friend. His friend's luck was worse than him. He suffered an innocent disaster and almost died. It was due to pure luck that he could survive.
"It's okay," Carmen said with a bitter smile.
"But Mo Yun, maybe next time, my luck won't be so good."
"There is no energy shield. As long as the next serpent’s attack brushes our spaceship, it will immediately explode."
"No." Mo Yun comforted Carmen and said,
"I will report to our commander and ask him to allow you to enter the deeper layers of the fleet. The giant serpent mostly attacks the outer layers of the fleet, the inner layers are much safer.”
Carmen thought for a while before nodding.
In the end, Mo Yun reported the situation to the commander and sincerely requested for his friend’s spaceship to be transferred to a more safe location.
Unfortunately, to his dismay, the commander refused. He doesn’t care at all.
"It's impossible!"
He was shocked and angry at the commander’s answer.
This is the basic protocol! If a ship is damaged and can’t provide a certain combat capability, it must be pulled out from the first line of the battlefield and protected until it’s repaired!
Carmen’s spaceship has been heavily damaged, it’s completely unable to protect itself, let alone participate in the battle, how could they refuse to let it inside?
The reason given by the commander is very pertinent. He said that Carmen can’t go inside because it will cause dissatisfaction with the inner layer of the fleet and possibly cause a riot.
Don’t they know that doing so is precisely going to cause a riot in the edge of the fleet?
Mo Yun was particularly speechless with this fleet, but also particularly helpless. Now the fleet is very strict with the peripheral spaceships.
The previous destruction of thousands of spaceships ordered by Hua Rong is proof that they don’t take their lives seriously anymore.
Mo Yun didn't dare to be too tough at this time, because he was afraid that the commander would use him as a bad model. Killing the chicken to scare the monkey, deterring the other spaceships and teams with bad thoughts.
Now he can only pray.
Pray that the giant serpent will not attack him or his brother next time. He hoped they could survive until the arrival of the reinforcements. If there are any.
Unfortunately, what he was most afraid of happened in the end.
When Mo Yun wanted to comfort Carmen, the warning alarm rang on the ship again. Mo Yun had become extremely familiar with this sound during this period.
It became of the sounds he hates the most because it signifies that the giant serpent has appeared again.
"Damn it, why is that beast attacking so frequently?"
Mo Yun looked at the screen with an extremely resentful expression, on which there was a gigantic serpent. It’s the hateful great serpent.
