---------------------------
A fleet moved silently in space, every ship has instruments dedicated to detecting life fluctuations. Of course, it might not be able to detect special lifeforms, but it’s more than enough to detect the life fluctuations of ordinary intelligent creatures.
"Payne, there is another life planet not far ahead."
Oliver looked at the instrument in front of him with an unbearable expression on his face.
"Those are our compatriots, but right now..."
He didn't speak anymore, but it could be seen that he was depressed from his expression.
"There is no other way," Payne said calmly.
"They can no longer be regarded as our compatriots. If we don't get rid of them in time, they will infect our entire galaxy, turning everyone into the pathogen’s slaves."
Oliver nodded. Although this extermination is indeed inevitable, he still felt painful at the thought of slaughtering so many of his compatriots.
Payne shook his head slightly. He knew that his deputy has a shortcoming, that is, he is very compassionate and tolerant towards their compatriots. This has something to do with the environment where he grew up, everyone was kind to him.
Being compassionate is a good thing, but in special circumstances, it might turn into a bad thing.
As a warrior executing the orders of the higher-ups, what they need is a cold and merciless heart, they don’t need to think about the consequences of their actions let alone question it. They must just fulfill their mission.
The fleet continued moving forward, but at this time, the spacecraft's instruments suddenly started ringing, pulling out Payne and Oliver from their thoughts.
"What’s wrong?"
Oliver asked the staff next to him. The staff member who was questioned continued tapping on the control board as he reported to him.
"We have entered an abnormal magnetic field, causing some o our equipment to malfunction."
"I see, deploy the energy shield!"
Payne frowned.
In space, it’s not rare to encounter an abnormal magnetic field, but encountering this time, on a dangerous mission is simply bad luck.
During this mission, it’s highly likely that they will encounter a pathogen, and encountering an abnormal magnetic field this time is simply bad luck. It might even be related to the pathogen.
"All units and teams, prepare for battle!"
In the end, he gave this order to the fleet. No one in the fleet questioned his order. All the spaceships entered a state of combat.
The compartments of many cargo spaceships and battleships opened up, releasing countless space fighters.
All spacecraft started shielding the abnormal magnetic field, but the further they moved forward, the more intense this magnetic field became.
"Damn, this abnormal magnetic field is strengthening."
Payne watched the data on the dashboard in front of him. If they continue to move forward, this magnetic field might become strong to the extent that their spaceships can’t withstand it, or they might fly out of the abnormal magnetic field area/magnetic cloud.
"Go back, go back!"
Payne knew that he couldn't move on, they can’t risk it.
"We need to get out, then go around this magnetic field cloud."
Along with his solemn order, the entire fleet started turning around, preparing to leave this magnetic field cloud and detour around, but at this time, before completing the turning motion, the entire fleet came to a halt
Right in front of them, space started distorting, after which a huge golden shadow appeared.
"Roar!!!!"
The moment this huge shadow appeared, a sharp howl rang across this entire dark area. Through a special detection device, all spaceships in that area were able to transform the violent electromagnetic waves sweeping around into a terrifying howl.
Sharp and hoarse, it sounded extremely penetrating.
The shadow in front of Payne’s fleet gradually became clear. It can be seen that this is a weird giant creature, at least forty to fifty kilometers long. At the same time, it’s completely golden and shining. If it weren’t for its hideous appearance, it would appear extremely handsome and majestic.
"It's the pathogen."
When Payne clearly saw the behemoth ahead, he said with a deep voice, completely certain that this is the culprit. Suddenly, the golden behemoth opened its mouth and released a giant golden beam towards the leading battleship.
In the face of this sudden attack, the leading Planet Destroyer immediately activated its energy shield, defending against the incoming laser attack and resist the explosion afterward.
“Boom!!!”
The golden behemoth didn’t hesitate to launch the second laser beam, breaking the energy shield and damaging the battleship.
The golden behemoth suddenly released a huge spider net, penetrating the dark space and crossing tens of thousands of kilometers. Almost instantly, The spider web appeared next to the battleships whose energy shield was broken then wrapped around it.
Without giving others the chance to react, the golden behemoth quickly pulled out the wrapped battleship towards it, then used its space manipulation to compress it before swallowing it.
"Alan!!!"
In the control center of the command ship, Payne stared at this scene with wide eyes, then screamed crazily. The captain of that Victory-class battleship is one of the old subordinates that has accompanied him across countless difficulties and trials. He is one of the few people he can trust and entrust his life with.
"Damn beast!"
Payne yelled angrily.
"Everyone! Execute plan Delta! Immediately launch an attack on this pathogen! You don’t have to worry about energy consumption!"
Payne is very tense at the moment. Although his heart is filled with bubbling anger, he knew that as the commander-in-chief, he has to keep absolute calm.
This pathogen isn’t easy to deal with. Its control of space is extremely high.
Under his order, all the Planet Destroyers began to spread out. All space fighters were split into ten different teams, composing different formations.
These space fighter teams quickly flew towards the golden behemoth, then surrounded it from all sides.
Of course, each team is far away from each other, but they have locked the golden behemoth and are ready to attack at any time.
Their main attack weapon is their laser cannons. Even if each individual cannon isn’t as powerful as the main cannon of planet destroyer battleships, the gathering of tens of thousands of cannons constitutes a threat far beyond that.
