---------------------
"No! Damn it, it's another pathogen!"
Chris yelled loudly. He quickly pressed on a few buttons, his fingers left a series of afterimages. In just a fraction of a second, Elvira moved sharply to the side, dodging the claw attack.
The giant claw above them crashed down, plunged heavily into the sea, creating a comet-like explosion, then abruptly disappearing.
The people in the base far away looked at all of this with stunned expressions on their faces.
In the military base on the coast, Miller, Henry, and Tang Guo looked at the scene not far away with astonishment. The tsunami created as a result of the collision struck heavily on their steel wall, causing the base to shake slightly.
However, they didn’t pay attention to this, they are still immersed in the previous scene.
A golden giant claw fell from the sky. The giant steel-like claw is over 1 kilometer long. Furthermore, its appearance out of nowhere and its acceleration to cosmic speeds level made it power almost like that of a meteor.
"That’s... the body of the ‘Great Will’, the Pathogen?"
Tang Guo struggled to say.
"It's too big, what kind of creature is this?"
Miller swallowed his saliva. He stood next to Tang Guo and Henry on a tower on the base. They looked as all of these previous events unfolded in just a few seconds.
The giant claw has disappeared, but the tsunamis it generated are still striking their base.
"It's another pathogen!"
In the control room of the Elvira, Locker's face was extremely ugly. He didn’t think that there would really be two Pathogens on the same planet.
"Captain, what should we do now?"
Chris glanced nervously at the screen in front of him. On which the scenery around their spaceship was projected. He is afraid that another claw will attack them from a random direction.
"That pathogen has definitely evolved to the third stage!"
Chris said loudly. Their judgment this time is fatally wrong. Pathogens that have evolved to the third stage can no longer be dealt with planet-destroying spacecraft.
In fact, even the planet-destroying spacecraft itself is in danger after encountering this type of creature.
According to the SkyRiver civilization's research on pathogens. This type of creature can be divided into five stages.
Pathogens in the first stage have a relatively small size and timid personality. They will instinctively hide upon encountering danger. Their attack methods are mainly mental attacks, physical attacks, electromagnetic pulses, and energy beams.
Pathogens in the second stage are larger. They basically have the same attacks as those of the first stage pathogens, but they are vastly more powerful and aggressive.
Apart from Planet-destroying weapons, Pathogens of the second stage can hardly be killed.
Pathogens of the third stage are vastly more powerful. They are on a whole new level. They might no be that much different from level 2 pathogens in terms of size. Most of them have a body size around dozens of kilometers.
However, they have a new space manipulation ability.
They can use this ability to freely attack, just like the giant claw before. Perhaps the body of the pathogen is thousands of kilometers away, but it can use its space ability to fold space and strike enemies from a very long distance away.
Pathogens of this stage can no longer be deal with just using planet-destroying spaceships.
Not only can it escape trough space whenever it wants, but just its space folding ability is also enough to cause a headache for them.
Although a planet-destroying cannon does have the ability to destroy planets, it does not mean that it has the ability to destroy any planet in a single shot.
Using the majority of energy that their spaceship has, they can transform an average-sized life planet into a dead rock. As for truly destroying a planet and reducing it into pieces, their cannons can do so only to small planets.
In fact, planet-destroying cannons itself has many different levels. For spaceships like Elvira that are responsible for patrolling remote areas of the galaxy, they are equipped with only a low level one.
Higher-level planet destroyers only need a single shot to reduce a planet like the Earth into dust. However, weapons of that level and above aren’t used for patrol.
Firstly, they are too precious and secondly, they are too costly to use.
Cannons of that level not only are extremely huge and heavy. The energy required to use them is ginormous. Furthermore, after using them, many of the weaker weapons won’t be usable anymore due to the lack of energy.
They are generally used in large-scale interstellar battlefields, mainly for strategic deterrence.
Elvira is a Victory-class planet destroyer from the SkyRiver Empire. Its overall strength belongs to the lower class amongst all destroyers of the Empire. Its speed under normal navigation is slow, its space jumping ability is relatively slow and laggy, its defense is almost fragile, not to mention its inferior firepower.
Of course, this is compared to other planet destroyers from the SkyRiver Empire.
Compared with the motherships and spaceship of the Blue Plate Federation, it’s basically a super-advanced spaceship a few hundred years ahead. This is why Locker and Chris entered the orbit of the earth so carelessly and fought head one with the military of the Federation.
"We must immediately leave this planet."
Locker didn’t hesitate to pass the order. Although the rewards they will get after killing the Pathogen are very enticing, their safety is still more important.
There are two pathogens on this planet, and one of them has reached the third stage.
"We will probably die if we continue to stay here."
Locker yelled loudly.
"Activate the hyperspace engine and immediately initiate the space jump!"
A loud noise suddenly sounded from the alien spaceship. Space suddenly started to be distorted around. At the same time, an energy shield suddenly enclosed it. This is Elvira’s preparation for the space jump.
When the power generator is in operation, it will quickly distort the nearby space, creating a wormhole. The energy shield is there to protect the spaceship from deadly interstellar gas and dark matter particles.
After discovering that this pathogen is not something they can deal with, Locker decisively gave the retreat order. He is planning to go back and report this matter.
"Damn monster, what awaits you is the empire's planet-destroyer fleet!"
Locker said with a cruel smile on his face. He once participated in an interstellar war. At that time, he was also controlling this spacecraft, Elvira. In that battle, he destroyed a high-class planet destroyer and received a badge of honor, which is still hanging on his chest until now.
This is his pride.
Even in such a fierce and devastating war, he still bravely moved forward and successfully destroyed a higher-class spaceship.
However, right now he suffered such a big loss on this ordinary planet. Before even the opponent revealed itself, he fled in panic. This is a shame he can’t tolerate.
"I swear that you won't have such good luck next time I come to this planet."
Locker pledged in his heart.
His Elvira is around 1.5 kilometers long and belongs to the Victory-class planet-destroyer. Above that is an Imperial-class planet destroyer.
For example, his boss, Colonel Reel Hall is the captain of an Imperial-class planet-destroyer.
Furthermore, the Imperial-class planet Destroyer of Colonel Reel Hall is still the main ship of their star destroyer fleet.
Of course, in peaceful times, many star destroyer fleets will be temporarily disbanded, and different spaceships in the fleet have to perform other tasks, such as patrolling for example.
When there’s a war, the star destroyer fleets will gather together to participate in the war.
While Locker was thinking about this, Elvira has reached a critical juncture. Just 2 to 3 seconds before initiating the space jump.
The roar of the spacecraft's engine reached its extreme, finally activating and instantly disappearing from that place. In the next second, they entered a space tunnel;
"Oh!"
In the control room of the spaceship, Locker and the others celebrated their successful escape.
However, their expression changed in the next second.
