-------------------------
"Lieutenant Henry, the research team is nearby!"
Lee Sheng yelled while looking at the clearing in front of him. Traces of a camp can be seen here. More importantly, looking at the traces left behind, they should have camped here fairly recently.
Henry also stepped forward, checked the camping traces, then asked Lee Sheng.
"Your research team went in that direction, should we follow them now?"
"Of course!"
Lee Sheng looked excited and nervous at the same time. The reason why he went to such great trouble and even put his and many people’s life at danger isn’t actually for the research team, but a single person in it.
If it wasn't to save that person. He wouldn’t have had to come to this dangerous place at all.
This time, Henry was the one leading the team, and Lee Sheng was still protected tightly in the middle. Their team slowly moved forward. This speed is actually perfect as the scouts need to look for the traces left behind by the team and the defense team needs to look for any danger.
"Stop!"
Henry suddenly raised his hand and signaled everyone to stop. After a few seconds, rustling sounded from the area head of them.
“Shhh!!”
Everyone's complexion immediately changed. They raised their guns almost immediately, pointing them at the bushes not far ahead.
A few seconds later, swarms of bats suddenly appeared.
These bats are actually quite small, not much different from ordinary bats, but there are thousands of them, and they are currently heading towards their face.
"Open Fire!"
Henry yelled loudly, He pressed the trigger of the gun in his hand, spewing countless bullets and killing many bats.
While many others used ordinary guns to shot at the bat swarm, someone in the team picked up explosive guns and fired at the incoming bats.
Many bullets flew from this special gun, which immediately exploded upon contact with the bat swarm, killing many of them with every explosion.
“Wooo!!”
The bats let out an ear-piercing scream, then quickly scattered. Only to gather once again far away from the team, then attack again.
After several waves of attacks. Only about 100 bats remained, which quickly scattered around. On the other hand, over 10 people from their team died.
Although these bats have the size of ordinary bats. Whether it’s their strength, bone density, and even speed are extremely high.
As long as a single bat gain enough momentum, they can easily shatter the glass covering the head of the team members, then break their heads. Not to mention that a swarm of them pounce every time.
"Let's go."
Henry looked at his team members lying on the ground. Then continued to lead the team to follow the traces left behind with a grim look on his face.
Lee Sheng silently followed not far behind Henry. In fact, amongst the dead people, only a few were from Henry’s team, most of which are part of his team.
The only reason why he was able to live until now is because of the protection of everyone, but if his team members continue to die like this, then his turn will soon arrive.
"Hopefully, I can find the young lady sooner."
Lee Sheng smiled bitterly. The only reason why they paid so much to come to the Forbidden Land is that their boss’s daughter is part of the research team. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have gone to such length and sacrificed so many people for a single research team.
"Lieutenant Herny, did you hear the sound of gunshots?"
Walking absentmindedly on the road, Lee Sheng suddenly froze. Just a second before, he heard the faint sound of gunshots. He immediately turned around and asked Henry, with a look of urgency and expectations on his face.
“Pa! pa! pa!”
Henry frowned slightly, just as he was about to say something. The sound of gunshots sounded again, this time much clearer than before.
"The sound came from there!"
Henry closed his eyes and discerned the direction of the gunfire. A few seconds ahead, he violently opened his eyes, pointed to the north-west, and said loudly.
After determining the direction of the sound, the team suddenly accelerated, running straight towards the source of the sound.
.............
"Protect the young lady, go! go!!"
A few hundred meters away from Henry and Lee Sheng’s team, a group of people was quickly running away. It’s like there was something terrifying behind them.
However, there was nothing behind them, just the gentle wind and many giant trees.
There are a total of twenty people on this team. The leading person is a beautiful young woman. She is wearing a power suit, so she isn’t burdened by running and jumping on this rough terrain. However, the glass cover on her head was broken.
"Miss, you must take that code back. It’s the boss’s only hope."
Next to that young woman was a burly young man. He gritted his teeth and said loudly, then suddenly turned around and ran to the back of the team.
"Damn animal! Come after your grandpa if you have the ability!"
After saying this, the young man raised the gun in his hand, looking alertly around, ready to shoot anytime.
However, at the next moment, a dark shadow passed by, instantly taking the young man away. In just a fraction of a second, a leopard appeared on the branches of a tree 20 meters away, the young man is in its mouth.
This leopard is more than seven meters long and almost three meters high. Fortunately, the tree it was standing on is quite a big one, so its branches didn’t break.
The young man was softly hanging from the leopard’s mouth. He was bitten by the leopard on his neck, instantly killing him;
"The leopard is there."
Amongst the 20 people team, a man suddenly shouted, followed by many people lifting their weapons and firing at the leopard.
"Bang! Bang! bang!."
The weapons they used this time are laser guns. This type of weapons has an extremely high destructive power, very high speed, and a wide range.
However, the leopard still dodged the laser attacks. It sensed danger the moment they raised their guns and evaded before they even fired.
Still running away, Tang Guo looked back, she watched with red eyes as the young man’s neck was bitten by the leopard and as buckets of blood seeped from it.
Biting her lips, she wiped the tears at the corner of her eyes and continued running.
Five years ago, she suddenly became very interested in sea and land monsters, so using her father’s giant company, she started research on them.
As she continued researching and conducting experiments on various monsters and weird creatures, she discovered something unusual.
In fact, in the Old Land, there are many ruins of the Weiner people’s cities, and in those ruins, there are still many books and relics left behind by them.
Even before humans knew about the existence of the Old Dominator, she found descriptions about him in some of these books. It’s just that she couldn’t interpret it at that time.
Just when she wanted to seek the government’s help, she didn't expect them to already get information about the Old Dominator from the Star Tree.
At that time, after wasting a lot of money and effort, she was finally able to interpret the text on it, gaining a lot of information.
The writer of that ancient book indicated that he will enter the Forbidden Land and do some research.
He was planning to look for the source of the ‘Great Will’, then study it and look for some ways to stop its spreading.
The book writer didn’t know at that time that the owner of the ‘great will’ is a living creature, an Old Dominator.
Anyway, after writing the final parts about his trip and the location of his research institute, he didn’t mention anything about the research or what happened after that.
The reason Tang Guo came to the "forbidden Land" this time to look for the research institute left behind by the book writer and see if he had any results.
In the end, she didn't expect that only 20 people would survive from the 200 she brought with her originally. Furthermore, they are far away from the coast of this forsaken continent.
