------------------------
The entire fortress is circular. Its outer wall is hundreds of meters high and more than 20 meters wide. Some parts of the wall are hollow. They are usually filled with many destructive weapons along with many people.
Because of the thickness of the wall, a variety of heavy weapons are placed on it. Whether it’s a ground or air attack, they can be used to easily defend against both of them.
In addition, there is an airport inside the fortress. If the fortress encounters any kind of attack, the aircraft in the airport can immediately take off and fight the enemy.
From these all these points, the safety factor of this fortress can be said to be extremely high, meaning that the humans living in this place can protect themselves.
However, Humans living on the Old Land doesn’t just need to resist those giant monsters. The thing that brings them the most trouble is the electromagnetic field that makes people irritable and crazy.
Although its effect in the Old Land is far from that of the forbidden Land, it still greatly affects their thoughts and actions.
Therefore, the humans inside this fortress are all wearing power suits. This suit has the same purpose as the exoskeleton, but it’s more advanced and more effective.
They don’t need to manually regulate or manipulate this type of suit. It will automatically detect changes in the muscles of the wearer, then calculate the action the person is intending to make. Whether it’s dodging or jumping.
However, the most important function of this suit is still to help humans resist the electromagnetic field that is omnipresent in the Old Land.
With this power suit, even the weakest human can carry oxygen cylinders weighing hundreds of kilograms for a long period of time without feeling tired.
With the oxygen cylinder, humans can continue wearing a glass mask that partially isolates the electromagnetic field for several consecutive days. Even up to ten days, giving them the ability to carry operations on the Old Land for a long time?
Due to this power suit, the number of humans walking on the Old Land has reached a very large point.
While Fang Yun observed the base through the countless cameras hidden everywhere, he saw many soldiers patrolling the base, wearing power suits and glass masks on their faces.
“Dododododo!”
Suddenly, a closed-wing helicopter flew over from the World Tree. Fang Yun remember hat humans have already created this type of helicopters back in the blue planet. They were widely used against kaiju and land monsters.
After the helicopter landed at the airport, the corresponding staff immediately ran over, then took out a large number of roots from inside.
Fang Yun watched all this through the cameras, then shifted his sight to other places.
Suddenly, a conference room appeared in his vision.
A meeting was being held in the conference room. The conference table was already full of people of different ages and genders. Through the speakers and microphones, Fang Yun was able to hear these people’s speech.
The person sitting in the most prominent place is a middle-aged man with a bald head. His body is so huge that it made his head look small. Judging from his skin color, he is a white man, but his skin is a bit tanned.
He wore a camouflage uniform and was looking seriously at a fair-skinned middle-aged man in front of him. His suit, face, skin complexion, and aura made him look like a pampered master rather than a serious military man.
"Chief Miller, The operation of entering the Forbidden Land and reducing our team is very urgent, they have been there for more than 10 days, this can’t be delayed anymore!”
The fair-skinned middle-aged man asked urgently.
"Mr.Lee."
Miller seriously replied to him.
"I can understand your feelings, but I also hope you can understand us. We didn’t receive any orders from the higher-ups. Furthermore, my authority doesn’t give me the right to send our men to that hell-like place, even if it’s only 100 kilometers away!”
For current humans, a distance of 100 kilometers is very short. Any healthy adult man can cross it in a few hours.
"Our company's research team responded to your call for help in your toughest times, but now we are in a pinch, you just ignore it! Perhaps, I should report this to my boss and let him talk with your boss."
"No! You can’t do that Lee Sheng."
Miller pondered for a moment then said.
"How about sending a team of fifty people to escort you to the Forbidden Land?"
"The inconvenience over there is mainly the electromagnetic field, give me your best equipment, and some sturgeon oil."
"Lee Sheng, sorry, my rights aren’t enough to give you such precious materials."
Lee Sheng returned to his seat, frowning. He also knew that although Miller is the highest-ranked officer here, he doesn’t have the right to send an army to the Forbidden Land without authorization.
If his superiors knew that, he would definitely be sent to the military court.
The Forbidden Land block has been lifted, causing some research teams to go into that continent, and they usually hover at just its entrance.
It just so happened that the research team of their company decided to take the risk and enter that continent after hearing this news.
At the beginning, it was agreed that the research team could only move within an area of 30 kilometers from the entrance. Their only way of communication in such an area filled with magnetic disturbance is the primitive signal flares.
However, it has been a week since their research team has released a signal flare, it’s obvious that they encountered some kind of accident.
Lee Sheng came to the Black Iron Fortress. hoping that Miller could help them look for their missing research team in the Forbidden Land. Unfortunately, he refused.
A team losing contact for over a week means that they don’t have a high chance of surviving. Miller knows the situation inside the Forbidden Land more than anyone, so he knows that that research team has a small chance of surviving.
Under various considerations, Miller rejected Lee Sheng’s request, but this Lee Sheng background is very big, so even he has to be polite, and according to him, there is an important person amongst the research team.
Miller is really tired of this bullshit. They are the ones that sent their research team into the Forbidden Land, why must he be the one to take the responsibility?
"So...Chief Miller, when will the action begin?"
Taking off his glasses and rubbing his brows, Lee Sheng suddenly looked up and asked the tired-looking Miller.
……
"Humans have already started exploring the Forbidden Land.”
Fang Yun was feeling quite surprised. "Why are they suddenly so interested in the Forbidden Land?"
In the past, although humans were curious about the Forbidden Land, they were more curious and afraid of it, so, after a few tragic accidents, almost no one tried to explore it anymore.
Unexpectedly, five years later, the government and many giant corporations started exploring it.
Fang Yun hacked into the database of the "Black Iron Fortress", then started to carefully search for the reason. After reading some top-secret documents, he finally understood why.
The reason why the leaders of the human class are so eager to explore the Forbidden area is that they found some information recorded in the roots of the world tree.
