Chapter 264: Battle Development
🕑 Added 2020-05-26 22:31:00 +0000 UTCThis sudden monster attack has caused a lot of people in the surrounding islands to panic. It's not just military and research personnel that live on these islands.
Many civilians live on the transformed islands, almost a million actually. Many of them looked fearful at the sight of the bloody war not far away. Their psychological abilities naturally aren't as good as specially trained soldiers.
Under the order of the human leaders including Lu Cheng. Civilians were quickly gathered on a single island. After which the island's engine started, driving it to the distance away from the battlefield.
The situation in the grass sea quickly reached the ears of the people in the outside world.
Every country regards the grass sea settlements as the future of mankind, so they didn't hesitate to abandon many defense points in their respective countries, sending many reinforcements towards the grass sea.
In these dire times, having too much territory is a big burden for all countries. Therefore, all of the world's countries have voluntarily given up on most of their territory to concentrate on the few small places where humans can live.
Right now, places all around the world are filled with rampaging kaiju and wandering ancient/mutant creatures.
For example, the area of life that humans held in 'Panda country' isn't even as big as a province in the last age.
Most of their settlements and defense lines are concentrate on high lands, and natural areas that are easy to defend. The results have been remarkable so far, they were able to defend the last settlements without much difficulty so far.
However, in this way, other unprotected areas have become wastelands, filled with all kinds of dangerous monsters.
However, this doesn't mean that humans have completely disappeared from these places. Many humans can't withdraw along with the big forces and are left behind.
They live in ruined cities, sneaking around every day, trying to the avoid the wandering giant monsters. They live on the food left in ruined supermarkets and factories, struggling on the edge of life and death, just to see the sunshine of tomorrow.
Most of these people eventually become the food of ancient/mutant creatures and kaiju or starve to death while weeping in despair.
In short, in such an era, the cheapest thing is human life.
Most of the countries around the world have fallen into anarchies or were completely destroyed. Only a few superpowers and countries that banded together are barely preserving the basic shape of society.
However, even then, they are barely holding on. Apart from some main cities and survivors' strongholds, all other places have become restricted-life areas.
In small and weak countries, most of their land was captured by monsters. Almost all of their main cities have become ruins.
Not many people remain, there are few survivors hiding in the city ruins, barely surviving and without hope.
The only way those small countries could hold embers of their previous civilization is by sending their few surviving people to the stronghold of big countries. Only in this way can they continue surviving.
Unfortunately, a few places around the world have become a complete wasteland, humans have become extinct in those places. Such places include the Australian continent and the majority of the African continent.
It's truly a tragedy.
If things continue like this, then humans will truly become extinct. At least the humans that are outside of the grass sea. In fact, the country leaders have mostly given up on the outside world.
The only reason they still have military forces over there is to protect the last embers of humanity over there. More importantly, if they are able to destroy the aliens' base in the Grass sea, the monsters in the continent might withdraw from the human world.
Back to Grass.
The battle lasted a total of three days. The human side has lost a lot of manpower and material resources, the alien side was almost completely destroyed. Humans finally won at great cost.
However, the human side wasn't even able to rest for two days before the second wave of monsters attacked. It turned out that this is just the beginning.
Fortunately, the reinforcements arrived, giving humans the edge in that battle, letting them breathe out.
The big battle continued.
In that sea area, there is the sound shells exploding every day, the sound of flesh and blood bursting, both that of humans and monsters.
Many missiles exploded, many warships sunk, many airships and motherships fell from the sky, many fighters were destroyed. The number of human lives that were lost in uncountable.
Men and women shed tears and fought for their future. The sea in that area has completely changed colors due to the innumerable casualties.
The human alliance suffered unprecedented losses in that battle.
It wasn't just the human alliance that suffered. The aliens also faced innumerable losses. Over a thousand kaiju were killed in that battle, including dozens of level 6 ones. The number of ancient and mutant creatures that died is innumerable. Even the aliens themselves had many casualties.
The only one who can be said to have benefitted from this war is the giant serpent.
This giant monster has never stopped eating since the war started.
His level was raised to 34, obtaining 33 skill points.
In addition to the 11 points left from before, he has a total of 44 skill points.
Fang Yun didn't hesitate to max out "Energy Beam", bringing its might to a whole new level. He is now confident to easily penetrate a giant mountain using this skill. Its power has become the highest out of all the skills he has.
Furthermore, his size has also increased to a certain extent.
This evolution directly bought his length to 600 meters and diameter to 19 meters.
He is undoubtedly the biggest creature in the world. Of course, apart from the kaiju mother.
His fighting power has also reached unprecedented heights.
Level 5 kaiju are now no different from paper for him. Just relying on his physical strength, without using any skill, he can easily kill them. That's just relying on his physical abilities. Using any attack skill against them is overkill.
Level 6 kaiju can be easily killed by an "Energy Beam" or a "Thunder Domain" followed by "Overclocking Resonance".
Not far after his evolution. He demonstrated his power in front of the human alliance by abusing a level 5 kaiju.
It's a whale-like giant kaiju that is 200 meters long and 60 meters wide. It was rampaging across the battlefield, depressing the controllable kaiju of the human alliance.
Then it was stared at by Fang Yun.
Without giving it the chance to react, he quickly wrapped around it. Then using his tremendous muscle power, he twisted it into a meat sauce. A giant monster that is much harder than its size equivalent of steel was twisted into a meat paste easily.
Fang Yun directly ate it without paying attention to its gruesome appearance.
Such a cruel scene would have scared people to this if this wasn't the apocalypse.
"The human alliance is gradually getting stronger."
Fang Yun didn't just stay on the battlefield all this time, he often swam around in the surrounding area. In the past few days, he saw an endless stream of airships flying towards this area.
According to his calculations, the number of those airships has surpassed a thousand.
In addition, the number of islands controlled by the Blue Stars has reached 25.
These islands were scattered at first, but they were brought close together after putting engines on them. They are currently in a circular formation, protecting the important islands like Guardian 1 in the center.
Not only was the human alliance increasing their strength. Even the alien side is getting stronger. After the first battle, the number of monsters around isn't decreasing at all, it's rather increasing.
The number of ancient/mutant creatures is almost like ants, enough to make an OCD person crazy.
Fang Yun is mostly responsible for dealing with these monsters, he has an attack skill with a very large range.
"Thunder Domain" is very effective in dealing with an army of monsters. Launching this skill is enough to kill tens of thousands of monsters every time.
After killing a large number of monsters, Fang Yun would start a feast, eating the endless roasted bodies of these giant monsters. Sometimes, the human alliance will send a few warships to scavenger a few of these monsters' bodies.
The flesh of these mutant creatures is very important to humans. Eating them will increase the physical strength of the human body tremendously, so from time to time, humans does sneakily take some bodies of the monsters killed by Fang Yun.
