Chapter 242: Desperate People
🕑 Added 2020-04-21 17:03:31 +0000 UTC"Damn, when will this end?"
A large group of people was squeezed into a corner, among them were Xiao Lan and Li Zhi. Before that, they followed the driver of the tour bus to this base, seeking shelter.
Unfortunately, the base they struggled to reach isn't safe at all. It's surrounded by many giant creatures.
Although they were shocked by the reappearance of ancient and mutant creatures, it wasn't the time for questions. Under the leadership of that driver, they successfully entered the base.
Compared with the base, the outside is undoubtedly more dangerous.
Beside Xiaolan, a black man punched the ground heavily, his face filled with despair. Their situation is a mortal one, so it's not strange for him to fall into despair.
In fact, most of the people in this base are in a state of impending collapse. Even the security personnel who are standing on the base wall and shooting the giant creatures below with machine guns fell into a frenzy.
Yang Ping's face was pale as the sound of gunshots constantly resounded in his ears. His face was filled with despair as he asked Luo Yong.
"Luo Yong, are we going to die here?"
As soon as his voice sounded, many people started shaking, especially women.
Luo Yong, who was watching the people on the wall, looked at him and said.
"Don't talk nonsense, the base is still standing, and don't forget what the park administrator said before. The reinforcement will arrive soon."
Xiao Lan listened to Luo Yong's words, and couldn't help but glance at the wall not far ahead. There are many security personnel holding machine guns and madly shooting at the creatures outside of the base.
Occasionally, some agile ancient/mutant creatures will jump on the wall, then immediately get shot down.
In addition, from time to time some pterosaurs will try to fly over the wall and attack the people inside, fortunately the personnel keeps shooting them.
Their base is surrounded by a 10-meter high wall, and inside is a square. In the center of the square is the command room, which is composed of steel and other special metals, making it the safest place in the whole island.
Unfortunately, they aren't allowed inside. They are prohibited from even approaching it.
Xiao Lan listened to the dense gunshots and buried her head in her knees.
At first, she was very nervous and scared like everyone else, but she eventually calmed down. It's not like this is the first disaster she suffered from.
Whether it was the mutant creatures attack or kaiju attacks, she has experienced many disasters. She lost her family, her father, mother, and even her little brother.
This is just another disaster she is suffering from, but this time she isn't sure if she can survive or not.
Sometimes she wonders who is she so unlucky, what did she do to suffer from all of this?
"Lester, when will our air force come?"
Hammond, the guy in charge of the park, held a wooden cane tightly. He looked at the young man who was configuring the control board and asked. He looked quite calm, seemingly not afraid of the giant creatures attacking the base outside.
In fact, this is indeed the case, he is indeed not afraid, just angry. The appearance of these mutant creatures has destroyed his Jurassic Park.
As for his own safety ... not to mention that he has already contacted the military of the 'Bald Eagle'. It won't take long for a mothership to come here, which is enough to pick all the people in the base.
Even if the base gets destroyed before the mothership come, he still has a backhand-in his back garden. A private military helicopter on which he can safely escape from this place.
Of course, he won't use it easily. If he escapes alone, leaving all the people on this island to die. He will suffer from a lot of legal issues and public condemnation once he goes back.
"Mr.Hammond, in another fifteen minutes, our Galaxy III will arrive here."
The guy called Lester is a young black man. After hearing his boss's inquiry, he immediately operated the instrument in front of him, bringing up a picture on the screen in front of him.
Three red dots on the picture are constantly moving forward, and not far in front of these dots is their island.
Hammond nodded slightly, walked to the back door, opened it, then walked out.
Out of the command room, he came to his back garden.
There, a helicopter 15 meters long was docked.
He quickly got on the helicopter. Hammond nodded at the two drivers inside the helicopter, then looked at the screen in front.
The scene outside the base is displayed on the screen.
He watched as various giant creatures madly attacked the base. Occasionally, a pterosaur dived down from the sky, attacking the personnel on the defensive wall.
The security staff wouldn't be able to withstand for much longer. Hammond had seen many people who are already very tired. They are holding on with sheer willpower. However, they won't last for a long time.
"I hope they can withstand the pressure until the reinforcements arrive."
After looking at the screen for a while, Hammond said this. He leaned against the couch, then closed his eyes. He is waiting for the result. If the base's defense was broken, he will immediately escape in this helicopter.
……
There are many creatures that can climb ashore from the sea. Whether it's giant toads, giant salamanders, crabs, even crocodiles, mutated or non-mutated, all of them climbed on the shore, then madly ran towards the base.
Fang Yun even saw some weird creatures, similar to spiders among these creatures. Their size is similar to that of an ordinary leatherback turtle. However, they are much faster, also very numerous.
These spider-like creatures somewhat reminded Fang Yun of the giant spider monster he saw on the space channel. It's just that one is a few meters long and the other is dozens of kilometers long.
Fang Yun looked at those spiders curiously, then he swam towards the shore. His huge body bulldozed through the swarm of giant creatures, including those spiders. None of them were able to resist his huge body weighing countless tons and exploded.
The meat sauce that bursts out of the body of those spiders is surprisingly not disgusting. It's like a white gooey liquid, a bit like yogurt?
Fang Yun didn't stay for too long on the coast, nor did he devour the creatures that were crushed on the way. He went straight to the place where these creatures are heading.
About ten minutes later, he finally got out of the jungle, his huge head turned around, examining the surrounding scenery.
The most eye-catching thing in this clearing is the giant walls ahead and the base behind them. He watched as countless giant creatures along with the previous giant spiders madly attacking the base.
On the giant walls outside the base, many security personnel are holding weapons and striking down the attacking creatures. Even Fang Yun noticed the exhaustion an despair n their faces.
"These people won't last long."
Fang Yun saw at a glance that the security personnel were on the verge of exhaustion. Perhaps it would not take long for their bodies to collapse together with their spirits.
However, just at this time, the sound of engines roaring sounded from the sky. Fang Yun immediately looked up to determine the source of the sound.
In the distant sky, three giant motherships quickly approached the base. Each one of them has an extremely terrifying size, covering the sky and casting a shadow over the base.
Especially the one in the middle. It's particularly exaggerated, probably over 1 kilometer long.
"This should be a mothership created by the Bald Eagle."
Fang Yun immediately guessed where the three motherships came from.
"These people should be saved."
Just when Fang Yun thought of this, something unexpected happened.
