Chapter 212: Energy Crisis
🕑 Added 2020-03-09 00:20:33 +0000 UTCAfter this evolution, Fang Yun's level was raised to 25, obtaining 24 skills points. Counting the points he has left, he has exactly 31 skill points.
This time, he upgraded "Thunder Domain" without hesitation.
After the upgrade, the power and range of this skill have more than doubled. After activating this skill, he can cover the range of 500 meters around him in a thunder sea.
The thunder he can release right now is almost catching up with natural thunder.
In addition, his Dragon/Snake field has become even stronger. Currently, as long as he gets closer to a creature about the size of a normal megalodon, it will immediately become crazy, sometimes it will even directly faint.
The closer he is to a creature, the greater the effect of his field, Conversely, the farther he gets from a creature, the less affected the creature is.
Fang Yun and the giant turtle moved slowly along the coast of the African continent. The situation here is much worse than he thought. There were a lot of fishing villages along the coast previously, but they have all disappeared.
He saw a lot of amphibious creatures on the coast, occupying the territory that originally belonged to humans.
Along the way, he didn't find a single human.
"Is the situation in Africa already so severe?"
Fang Yun let out a long sigh and shook his head, he already guessed why the situation in Africa is so bad.
There are many countries on the African continent, but most of them are small countries that are either in civil war or impoverished. They are also hardly united. Due to the extreme diversification of language and culture, it's almost impossible for them to band together.
Adding to that their weak military strength. They can hardly gather the strength to resist the kaiju invasion.
In addition, the kaiju have launched a large scale invasion right now. Even the major superpowers are struggling in the face of the increasing kaiju, so the variety of small countries on the African continent ushered in a disaster.
After the Kaiju destroyed the armed forces of these countries, just some amphibious mutant creatures can easily still the corresponding territories from the defenseless citizens.
Fang Yun is growing, and the giant turtle under him is also growing. Its current maximum width has reached 320 meters. Its growth rate isn't slow at all.
However, this turtle doesn't have any special ability. At least Fang Yun didn't find it. The only eye-catching characteristic of this turtle is its large body and high defense.
Looking at the giant turtle under him, Fang Yun remembered that giant octopus.
He met that giant twice before, and each time the octopus was able to escape. He wondered if that octopus is still alive.
In fact, the giant octopus, aka the Kraken, is still alive and doing well.
Since the giant octopus escaped to the Antarctic Sea, it has been living a moist life. That place has a relatively large number of ancient and mutant creatures, but the Kraken is still firmly occupying the top spot.
Most importantly, after the outbreak of Kaiju, the Antarctic Sea became a neglected place. Since there are no humans there, the kaiju didn't target that place.
Occasionally, a kaiju will pass through that sea. However, relying on its sharp instincts, the Kraken was able to escape in advance.
In fact, the Kraken will even take the initiative to hunt small and weak kaiju.
A total of 7 Kaiju have passed through that area, and the Kraken has successfully killed one and devoured it.
If Fang Yun were to see the current Kraken, he would be greatly surprised.
Its body size is much larger than before. Counting its tentacles, its length is over 200 meters. Just its head alone has a diameter of 40 meters.
Furthermore, after swallowing that kaiju, it gained the ability to secrete acid from its mouth and tentacles.
That acid is extremely corrosive, able to corrode most prey in the ocean into liquid in just 10 seconds.
The Kraken's confidence has greatly increased after getting this ability. It's now preparing to leave the Antarctic ocean, and get revenge on the guy that drove it out of its original territory.
The giant octopus doesn't have a high IQ, but it has a good memory. It can still remember the creature that defeated it, and it wants to get revenge.
Of course, this isn't the only reason why the Kraken decided to leave the Antarctic ocean. It has become somewhat overconfident and wants to hunt other kaiju. Mostly because its strength has increased a lot after eating that small one.
After leaving the Antarctic ocean, the Kraken headed straight towards the Indian Ocean. Precisely, the Grass sea.
On the other side, Fang Yun has now arrived in the southeast region of South Africa. The area where he is currently located already belongs to the Indian Ocean.
He has been encountering more and more mutant creatures recently, even kaiju became increasingly numerous as he got closer to the grass sea.
This time, the requited bio-energy points for the next evolution is 12 million, which would have taken him ages to gather in the previous era. In this monster era, the thing that he is the least worried about is bio-energy.
Fang Yun still doesn't know that humans have created a grade for kaiju. If he did, he will discover that...
Level 2 Kaiju can provide about 300,000 bio-energy points. Level 3 Kaiju can provide about 400,000 points.
Level 4 Kaiju can provide about 500,000 bio-energy points.
He hasn't encountered a level 5 kaiju yet, so it would be difficult to determine how much it can provide.
As for level 1 kaiju. It's in fact a kaiju in the baby to the juvenile age. It hardly has any strength or ability. It's basically impossible to see it on the battlefield between humans and kaiju.
The kaiju that Fang Yun has previously encountered and hunted are usually between levels 3 and 4. He has rarely encountered a level 2, in which he is able to easily kill them.
He still hasn't encountered a level 5 kaiju, but it won't take him long to meet one.
After moving forward for another half a month, Fang Yun raised his bio-energy to 5 million points. In addition, Fang Yun has also encountered a kaiju on this day.
That Kaiju was much stronger than any of the kaiju he encountered before.
...
It was an eventful day. While human beings were facing a lot of major problems such as kaiju, mutated creatures, and nuclear radiation, another major problem appeared in front of humans.
In Panda country's Bohai Oilfield, a lot of mysterious creatures were found in the crude oil that was extracted. Those creatures were just the size of a flea, but there were a lot of them.
Someone recorded a video of a worker scooping a cup of the crude oil that was just mined, as a result, obvious traces of those insects can be seen inside.
A lot of small creatures like maggots can be seen squirming inside.
According to the research, these organisms can feed on crude oil.
That bug was named "oil bug".
After the strange bug was first found in the Bohai Oilfield, it was also found in several coastal oilfields.
The number of these bugs is unimaginable. They just appeared in oil fields not long ago, but statistics show that the amount of crude oil is quickly decreasing because of them.
It wasn't only oil fields, a large number of small worms were also found in natural gas mines. This type of worm was named "Gas Worm", which survive by swallowing natural gas.
The appearance of these two types of bugs will cause humans to potentially fall into an energy crisis.
Fortunately, these two kinds of weird creatures were only discovered in various oilfields and gas mines near the coast. They haven't been found yet deep inland.
However, countries around the world are starting to get nervous. In the current age, humans must be prepared to face any situation.
They started to plan ahead. They decided to look for new energy sources before the situation worsens.
One of the most supported suggestion is cloning kaiju, breeding them to obtain their blood, then using it to create a new energy source.
