Chapter 130: Storm
🕑 Added 2019-12-02 21:17:09 +0000 UTCHam was leaning on the side of the ship, using the binoculars in his hands, he looked into the distance.
There are no entertainment facilities on the boat, and everyone on the boat has their tasks, so no has the time to accompany him to play.
At first, Ham was very excited, carefully checking the boat and wandering from place to place, but after a few days, the freshness disappeared, and the same scenery on all sides caused him to be very bored.
Just like now.
He used the binoculars to view the distant sea surface. It's not that he wants to appreciate the beautiful scenery or something like that, he just wants to pass the time. If he doesn't do anything, he will be bored to death.
In the past few days, Ham also tried to help with some work, but it's just the simplest tasks, he isn't qualified yet to help with the main and difficult tasks.
And to be honest, there aren't so many complicated things in fishing.
They just need to throw the net and drag it for a day or a night.
The truly difficult tasks are to take the fish from the fishing nets, then sort them and refrigerate them. The most important task is actually the boat navigation, without a qualified navigator, they can easily get lost or have an accident.
Young men like him are hyperactive, staying in this boat for a just few days has suffocated him. Sometimes he wants to jump into the water to play. But he was stopped by his father.
Therefore, in addition to being dazed, his daily entertainment is to look at the distant sea scenery with the binoculars in his hands.
Suddenly, he stopped looking around and focused on a certain direction.
Using the binoculars, he spotted a shadow far away.
Ham closed one eye and adjusted the focal length of the binoculars. The shadow appearing in the lens barrel suddenly became clearer.
It's a ship.
At the bow of that ship, there is a huge hook. In addition, there are a lot of people moving on the ship's board. The most noticeable thing is that huge fish.
"whale?"
"They are whalers!"
He instantly came to this conclusion after seeing that whale. He had heard about this kind of ship from the stories that his father told him, so he knows that there is a group of people that like to hunt whales.
However, fishermen like his father never kill whales. Firstly, it's very hard and unprofitable, and even if they do so, they can't eat the whale nor will anyone buy it.
After looking at the boat for a while, Ham got bored of it and looked at other places.
"Ham."
When Ham was laying on the side of the ship, bored, someone suddenly called him. His father walked towards him and said. "It's time to eat."
Ham followed his dad and couldn't help but ask.
"Dad, how is it? is there any fish in the net?"
Hearing that, Nick paused for a moment, his face cloudy, but he still said. "Not yet, but there will be soon."
He touched Ham's head, his heart felt heavy.
This is the first time that Ham has followed them to go fishing in the sea. If nothing is caught, then things will be very bad for Ham. People in the village will say that Ham isn't blessed by the goddess of luck and he would have a hard time finding a wife.
It has been three days since they went to the sea, but they just caught some fish yesterday. Barely 500kg, which is definitely not enough.
However, Ham wasn't worried at all, he didn't have a particular understanding of these things, he just wants to play and impress his crush, that's all there is in his young mind.
The two walked towards the small restaurant on the boat and started eating with the other 9 people on the boat.
After having dinner, Ham played on the deck for a while, then returned to his lounge, at which time it was already dark.
"Ummm!"
Ham stretched his lower limbs, lit the kerosene lamp in front of his bed, then took out a picture book from the cabinet.
On the cover of the picture book, there is a picture of a fishing boat driving on a rough sea, under the fishing boat, there is a terrifying monster lurking below.
Ham opened the picture book, and the contents inside were all illustrated images of various monsters, as well as some brief text.
There's nothing really beautiful in it, But Ham still enjoyed it.
There are too few books in their island.
"It's night, you should go to sleep."
Nick glanced at Ham and told him to sleep before going out of the room.
"I know, Dad."
Ham nodded at Nick, planning to read this book for another twenty minutes, then go to sleep.
However, after reading for about ten minutes. The sound of wind could be heard outside the window, at first Ham didn't care, but that sound got louder and louder as time passed.
More importantly, the fishing boats started swaying.
"what happened?"
Experiencing such a thing for the first time caused Ham to be shocked. He quickly got out of bed and walked to the window.
At this time, the sky had completely darkened. On their fishing boat, lights radiated out, illuminating a range about a dozen meters.
Farther away, it's complete darkness.
The sky was gloomy, and thick dark clouds continued to gather. The violent wind blew past the fishing boat. At the same time, raging waves impacted their boat, causing it to sway from one direction to the other.
The shaking he felt is obviously the result of these raging waves.
"It's going to rain."
Ham looked tense, the outside scene looked a bit scary, and the shaking boat that looked about to overturn any time magnified that even further.
Obviously, a storm is coming.
It has been a few days since they went to the sea, but this is the first time they have experienced this kind of weather, so the fact that his heart is pounding violently is no surprise.
The gloomy sea surface surging around looked extremely scary, and their fishing boat is in the middle of the sea, with no land around. That caused Ham to feel very insecure.
Suddenly, the stories of various ships having accidents or disappearing that he had previously heard from the adults suddenly flashed in his mind. Most of the fishing boats in these stories had these accidents because of storms.
Recalling all these stories, Ham felt that his body is very cold.
All kinds of horrible fantasies and thoughts of accidents appeared in his mind, causing the panic in his heart to grow stronger and stronger.
